ORIGINAL: Musicmystery Are the differences so great that partisans don't want them solved? Will the US (eventually) split up? How would your state/region fare? California, New York, and Texas could probably make it as independent countries -- they have strong economies and sea ports, for example. Are you sure about the "California, New York" part of it? The former being the fount of predatory mortgage lending and the latter being the prime capitalizers thereby? (Fraudulent structured finance 'securetization,' fraudulent credit ratings, predatory 'consumer lending,' and all that.) Who would bail them out, post USA? With out further stealing wealth from everybody else in the country as before, even beyond that obtained by the wealth predation of the CA/NY financial segment already? "I could go for a NY/New England nation." So could the rest of the country, to great benefit. Throw California into that mess and the remaining country is ten times better off already, before we even put the dot at end of the eviction order.
