Wow. For someone who complains about some people not paying taxes, BoscoX sure doesn't seem to have a job. He's on here virtually 24/7/365 griping about "leftists".

Ain't it great

Actually I don't have a job, I make a lot of money having fun. Most of it right here on this computer

Here

Flipping over to this web page is just a mouse click away, and more fun yet

So, you're not just a lying-assed, traitorous Russkie-loving troll, you're also a spammer.

Income level Share of total federal individual income tax paid Average income tax bill per person
Lowest 20% -2.2% -$643
Second lowest 20% -1.7% -$621
Middle income 4.2% $1,743
Second richest 20% 12.9% $6,285
Richest 20% 86.8% $50,176

From my link above, despite leftist ignorance, percentages paid by relative income

Middle to lower income people can file to get welfare "refunds" through the tax system, if they have two brain cells to rub together

And no one has to pay in until middle class, who still pay very little in relative terms

Except for the Obamacare scam tax fine penalties perhaps

And still no answer to my pointing out how it is the leftist useful idiot global warming cult members screaming for punishing carbon taxes on everyone, and VAT taxes

Literally, everything taxed at much higher rates than today for everyone "to save the planet"

With the poor, and the elderly, women, children and minorities hit hardest

Sure it does

Alt left trash can never win a debate so you always have to try to take the threads to the gutter

Make it personal, if you are to have any hope of "winning"

Put on your masks, pepper spray women, beat old men. Riot against free speech, and do everything else leftists are so well known for

Wasn't this thread about Republicans opening the doors for ISPs to sell our browsing information?

If those numbers were accurate, then someone making $57,806 would be in the top 20%, paying 86.8%, a bill of $50,176 ($50,176/.868).

I make well over this, and don't pay anything close to that. Even if you say "well, it's all the little taxes," I STILL have disposable income of well over the $7,630 (I put more than twice that in savings each year) left from $57,806 - $50,176.

In fact, according to taxpolicycenter.org, $57,806 is roughly the mean of the middle quintile (middle 20%). The mean of the top quintile (top 20%) is roughly $195,000. [In both cases, "roughly" because their data is on 2014.]

Point is -- the data you've listed is clearly inaccurate.

I could totally see someone making $195,000 paying taxes of $50,176.

But here's what the table you posted ACTUALLY looks like in your MarketWatch link:

So, that makes more sense. Clearly, people with less income paying lower tax rates are going to pay less tax than people with more income paying higher rates.

But that hardly makes the case for the claim that "the poor, and the elderly, women, children and minorities" are "hit hardest." In fact, based on this table anyway, it seems an equitable distribution for a progressive tax system, whereas flat rates would indeed be regressive, hitting lower income people the hardest, while giving a break to the highest income earners.

And, this table clarifies that the second column isn't the tax rate, but the total of all earners in that quintile.

So mystery solved. But also not a problem, unless you feel poor and rich should carry the same burden.

I'm in the second quintile actually (which is a very large income range, incidentally). Frankly, my taxes aren't a burden. It's just a number in my budget.

P.S. Stop being a child and changing thread titles. It's also a violation of forum guidelines.

As to your OP, I'm just tired of all the partisanship, and especially the lazy people who blame all troubles on one side or the other.

Look, whether you like it or not, the stuff you (hopefully) learned in Civics class holds true here. We DO have a Congress (yes? I hope no disagreement there?), they DO vote on laws, and those laws DO affect you and me when they go into effect.

And I'm sorry that you're "tired of all the partisanship", but if you look back at those links in my OP, you will note that this was passed on nearly a straight party line vote. It LITERALLY should be blamed on one party. The party that voted to make this law, and the president who signed it.

Or does holding those who do things accountable for doing the things offend your sensibilities too much?

In your first sentence, let's go for the "or not" in my case. No, I don't like it how things have gone, the so-called 'balance of power' thing getting a "fail" vote from me. Indisputable evidence shows that there is a great imbalance between corporate and military contractor vs.civilian influence upon, and ultimate determination of, governmental construct.

As pointed out by others on this site and else where, the Republicans and any honest notion of conservatism parted ways from Reagan onwards. And in my and numerous others' estimation, the Democrats and any concern for betterment of society parted ways from Clinton onwards.

Yes, I understand that Obama made some good noises about that and actually tried to do some useful things in the face of every kind of obstruction,
but the Micheal Taylor (Monsanto) thing and the Larry Summers thing just completely ruined it for me. But even after that, unlike numerous others before him, Obama at least tried to do some few good things alongside. I'm actually old enough to remember the last president who attempted that also, but many people today were not in the world at that time.

So while you are preaching to me about what I should be learning in a civics class or US government class, how much within that are we taught about ALEC or the registered lobbying firms or the non-registered lobbying groups or the 'think tanks' who do the actual writing of the vast majority of US legislation?

I didn't hear a peep about any of that in my classes, how about you?

The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) was signed onto by many Democrats and the president at that time, which replaced the previous educational support for 'welfare' recipients, and forced them away from education for better jobs to being Molly Maids -right now-!

This is why the US has gone downhill; because the powers that be, no matter whom we vote for, consider it to be in their interest that lower wages are more beneficial to them than better jobs.

So if you understand any of that at all, you would not be preaching to me about accountability, because the Democrats have completely sucked at that for years.

"But, the Republicans suck worse!"

Maybe they do, but if that's all the Democrats have, then it should come as no surprise that so many thinking people just got fed up and threw all that in the trash this last election.

You are really thick

The lowest earners get money refunded that they never paid in, only the top 55% pay taxes. Middle income and up

With the wealthiest paying most all of the taxes - period.

My link proved that

Only in your crazed hallucinations has anyone asked the poor to pay more taxes.

Well, except the alt left global warming cult people, who want to tax breathing, practically.

Tax the bejeezus out of everything carbon, which is everything. And for everyone - with the poor, the elderly, women, children and minorities hit hardest

"To save the planet"

I'm starting to wonder if you ever worked in your life.

I paid taxes when I was washing dishes in a hotel restaurant when I was 15. Deducted from paycheck every two weeks. I think I got a refund from the IRS about three times in my life, but the net was always in the government's favor in every year I've worked.

I already told you what shit your link was, and I already explained why that was so, and already explained that you are incapable of understanding anything I said and there is no way I could dumb it down enough for you. Any imagined or experimental stupid I could come up with would still be ten times above your 'brightest.'

There is just no hope for the situation, here.

Because you were too stupid to file for your return?

You are either just a liar or a complete troll and a fool

I've filed my own tax returns every year, long form or the"EZ" form, whatever worked out best for that year. I've taken three more accounting classes then you have, so I think I'm covered there. Though anyone having learned what five plus two is would be well ahead of you in any case.

You've already demonstrated that you consider anyone smarter than you (which constitutes the large majority of the world) to be a "liar," so guess why I am laughing and not offended by your puerile and actually childish incantations.

If your link had any merit, it would have been all over the place. It wasn't. I already pointed out the logical and basic numerical and statistical problems with it, you called me a liar, and that settles it for you.

"Facts are lies!", you've made that plain in pretty much all your posts.

But, you know, after all these years of being hell-bent on dumbing down the work force in service to keeping wages low, what we have now is in fact the government's massive subsidizing of the corporations yet again by way of TANF, food stamps, etc. because the stupid fucks just can't figure out to make a go of it without the third world mentality towards workers as taught and instilled in the highest level US university business courses.
