Plus of course whether or not one believes in any of the gods as most Americans say they do while failing to enact policies that reflect that belief, simply demonstrates their increasing hypocrisy.

Let's have an amen to that, brother.

Where's my fucking steak?

Oh please. You asked for someone to feed you, not kill you.

Quinoa, hummus, cut vegetables to dip in the hummus, tabbouleh, falafel deep fried in organic coconut oil, etc.

I thought you were rich and could afford all this stuff.

But in any case the lady and I are of charitable notion, at the moment.

Don't expect it to last.

(I fucking LOVE it when people speak French to me!...or....whatever the fuck that was)

(For the record....I NEVER said I was "rich"....I simply alluded to the fact that I live a life of total debauchery....and I pay cash).

This need not be framed in terms of "entitlement."

"Should we ensure every American can eat" is a more honest question.

I think, bounty, if it's a question of godlessness, that the point that charity does not and never has pulled up the slack casts the blame of godlessness upon the entire society.

And if we're such a godless secular society, yes, we'll have to address it ourselves, since the goodness of our hearts isn't sufficient.

Welcome to reality.

Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or a god. ... Many secular humanists derive their moral codes from a philosophy of utilitarianism, ethical naturalism, or evolutionary ethics, and some advocate a science of morality. [no different from any other religion]

yeh secular humanism, by gubmint, the modern day 'religion'.

Just think in another 20 years when its far too late a few people here will wake up to their loony owellian contradictions

Or how about as an alternative (that will rile the RWNJs) do we all have a duty to be sure no American is starving?

How about duty or not it's just something we see as basic decency?

The way Americans eat should be a crime. I mean 80% of the grocery store is full of stuff that is no good for you.

Sugar, carbs, 'empty calories'. People are addicted to putting 'stuff' in their mouth and chewing & swallowing it. They aren't necessarily interested in nourishment.

Even the farmers' market is 1/3 produce, 1/3 sugary baked goods, and 1/3 wines and craft beers.

That hardly seems the point.

How about we cut the military expenditures on stuff the military doesn't even want and spend that feeding people.

How about we limit food stamps to actual nutritious food?

1) We sort of do
2) Not everyone knows what to do with it (how to prepare it), so they get processed foods.
3) Many a college student has scraped by on Ramon noodles.

Nutritious food is expensive. Not a big deal to us, but a much bigger deal to someone on food stamps.

Or, how about we cut the military expenditures (along with a whole host of other expenditures), lower taxes so people have more of their own money, and let people be charitable?
