I'm amazed the critisism Kerry comes under for 4 Purple Hearts in Vietnam. They don't give Purple Hearts for falling off bar stools in Texas, or skipping flight physicals so you don't fail the drug test.

There is that double standard again.  How did Clinton deal with his military service requirement?  Start holding people you like to the same standards you apply to President Bush.

Yeah, I fear I'm posting in a dead thread walking. It seems to me that the CollarMe community is probably 99% liberal*... And I've found that it's nigh impossible to debate with left-wingers, especially when outnumbered.

All this said, I wouldn't say I like Bush. He's an average president who did some things right, some things wrong. Increasing government spending to new records, despite being a republican? Bad. Taking a stand on international politics and trying to bring some stability to an area of the world that desperately needs it? I'd say good.

Still, I think it is important to try and project both sides of an issue, and have a balanced discussion ("D00D he lied about wmds and he eats puppys they said so in the paper!!1 zomg worst president evar!" doesn't count). I'm just not sure that this site in particular is the place to do it. Anyway, best of luck.

* I'm not making any kind of judgement call, here. Just calling it as I see it.

US govt is bought, paid for and beholdent to the elites. no allegience to any people,  only cash.

                  Where is the  proof?

this crowd will stop at nothing...they lecture the masses how to behave, then rob pensions and the meekest for personal gain.

                  Where is the proof?

equal time is a total joke,.[thye OWN the media, the lobbiests for corps own them]

Last time I saw PBS, ABC, NBC, and CBS (I don't watch CNN and Fox) they looked pro liberal ajenda to me.   And seems they don't support the war against terror, but who knows.   Maybe you have more insight thatn I do

if W were any type of man- he would step down today- and go home to Texas.

he confuses president with king.  he thinks he is king.

Hmmmmmmmmm    You clarivoient?   How do you know what he thinks?

ANY prez would have served during 9-11. the typical shopper at the grocery store would have dont a good job.

I am not sure what is being said here?   Any shopper in a grocery store would have commanded the military or what?   Beats me

many conservatives dont recognize this man. he has run amuck.

Ahhhhhhh the many word.   That   Many can be almost any number from 3 up.   and I haven't seen him Run    Did I miss something?

if i am to get excited about a cause -explain to me reasons why. dont just say because i said so.

Don't remember anyone using that?   I must have missed it.

i cant think if anything he has done right. i turn off the tv when he comes on. i tune out noise. it has become as unwelcome as living  under an airport runway.

If he didn't do something right, how did he get elected, have kids, go potty, walk, chew, talk, etc?   LOL
no disrepect to the every day folks here. but W lost me the many many times he doesnt give me aduquate details to justify a radical policy the deviates from precedent.

many are more interested in 08. if it is even possible to regain our former glory.

They do give purple hearts for smashing your finger under fire.   I had a friend that got his that way.  He closed a door on it.

I love statements that broad brush groups of millions of people:

"Liberals are (insert whatever) ... "
"Conservatives thing (insert whatever ... "
"I would never vote for any Democrat because (insert whatever) ... "
"I would never support any Republican because (insert whatever) ... "

I love these broad brush statements because you immediately know you are reading or listening to someone that is probably too fucking stupid to vote.

I'm all for my elitist agenda of limiting the vote to people that have a good grasp of the issues. Those that give a fuck about purple hearts, grades at Yale, National Guard meetings, who got blowjobs, etc ... can go back to watching Larry King and reading the Enquirer.

Not a Fan of his record domesticly for the most part, but I do support the foriegn policy funny as that may seem for a Libertarian.

WMD's have been found the report came out over a month ago that 500 shells had been located, call them degraded all you want but they exist. So the NO WMD's thing has been shown false as I expected it would be. WILL DESTROY AND PROVE that ALL WMD's means just that and 14 years is way to long to keep threatening to do something and not following through.

But that's just my ow standard I wasn't mislead, I was convinced it was the right thing to do long before they even took it to the UN.

Was some intellignece wrong? Certainly so it's never been perfect, it's always been a best guess.
I've yet to see any legitimate intelligence network in the world have a report saying they were all gone, dated before the invassion. France said yep he's got them, GB said Yep he's got them Russia said Yep he's got them. The differences were in was 14 years long enough to wait for a 30 day deadline item to be achieved? Some places said nope they just need more time, I felt yep been about 12 years too long.

Post invassion in Iraq mistakes certainly in hindsight the level of power vacume left was too high, the potencial leaders that were selected certainly left something to be desired. But I didn't see anyone with the pull to get what needs to be done done without ending up with someone who had nothing bad in their closet. Those tht had the ability had histories that were ugly.

Domesticly I have trouble with Bush in many areas, some on both sides of the left/ right platforms.
Conservatively the no vetos and the lack of spending dicsipline make me angry, Libertarian wise The interference in personal freedoms and over regulations of many morality matters upset me.

I had the luxury of being able to vote my concious though and voted for Badnarick last election and will likely have the same luxury in 08, since the sate is pretty solidly in one camp I can vote libertarian without worry since we are not a swing state.

No..I was sincere in starting this thresad. I'm in no way a Bush supporter but I figured instead of the two sides fighting online.. let's give them (The Bush supporters) their own spot in the sun. Anyone that wants to see what they have to say come here here and bask in their insight.

i am a fan of the wit and wisdom of dubya..........it's a shame he missed his vocation though. He would have made a really good comedian, in fact as he's term limited maybe thats what he'll do...and he wont have to change his speechwriters either.
If i'd been in the audience when he said 'the french have no word for entrepeneur' i think i'd probably still be laughing..........

(just a quick addition.......i dont only collect quotes demonstrating an inattention to detail from american politicians, John Major once said 'we have our backs to the wall...we must turn around and fight')

Double standard? Bill Clinton took his student defferment from the draft, just like Dead-Eye Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Bill Frist,  Newt, & Rummey did. In November when the Dems take back the house prepare for some actual hearings with actual subpoenas.

First off the terrorist threat is a joke, the entire united Muslim world with the backing of Communist Russia AND China couldn't defeat microscopic Israel despite three attempts.  So now a tiny ragtag group of them is suddenly a threat to the WEST?  Only right wing idiots are stupid enough to buy that line of bullshit.   Do they need to be killed and their heads on a pike?  Sure, but Bush wandered off to invade a non Muslim run country instead.

Bush has spent 100s of billions of borrowed dollars and 200% of the goodwill we had in the world before and because of 9/11 and for what?

To turn Iraq into a training ground for Al Queda?
To increase the power of the Shia and Iran?
To ensure every fucking Arab despises America?

Who are our allies?  Pakistan and Saudi Arabia?  That is so unfunny as to be terrifying

His daddy didn't go to Baghdad the first time because if you allow democracy in Iraq, the Shia who are allied with Iran, win.

So then you have energy, what has Bush done to end our dependency on foreign oil?   A pathetic and pale shadow of an energy plan proposed first by a Democrat over three decades ago and dismantled by Republicans.

Bush and this Republican reign will be remarked on by historians as the turning point in not only America's downward spiral and the rise of China but a dark period in world history where important changes could have been made but weren't by a nation that had the power, influence, and wealth but lacked the will and the leadership.

I think most people on this list are a bit on the fringe of society and thus tend to lean liberal-wise. Discusions of politics and religeion tend to make enimies faster than any other subejct I know of.

So rather than continuing to rip on the guy, let me ask: What would YOU like to see him do? What could he do tomorrow, that would bolster your faith in him? If he called you up and asked what you thought he should do, what would you suggest?

haha.  That was priceless.  That idiot Kerry's entire campaign platform was his medals, at least one of which were a complete joke.  The Dem's really blew it when they dragged that bozo from under a bar stool.

I voted for him the second time around and, while I think some of his domestic decisions are totally wrong-headed, I continue to support him.

And let us not forget that when John Kerry FINALLY allowed the release of his college transcripts, GW had a higher GPA by one-tenth of a point.  There was also the fact that, to this veteran at least, 3 Purple Hearts in 4 months meant Kerry was too dumb to duck.

Ironic. Bush supporters always bring up Clinton or Kerry. Can you not defend Bush on what you think his own merit is?????

Mudd...excellent idea!

If he got on board with the Military Brass and started listening to their information about Iraq, making plans or at least discussing withdraw from Iraq,  working with other nations by creating more allies, signing the Kyoto Treaty, and having our troops work to better guard our borders.

Don't you get it?  I'm not bashing Clinton (I wanna party with that Dude!).  We are just pointing out the hypocrisy (seems like I'm using that word in every post) of the attacks on Bush.

Five years ago I couldn't imagine myself voting for a Republican but the HATRED and all the ugliness that comes with it have driven me away from the Dems.  I guess I was raised better than that.

Rich,
I'm neither Dem nor Rep. I've been involved in the past with both parties and BOTH have their lies, and deceit....I wouldn't care if Bush were a Dem---I would have never voted for the man based on his record and inexperience.
That's just me.
