Actually, I find that quite plausible. Perhaps: Booze, plus some gripe that had put him in a bad mood that night particularly ... on top of many years of growing misanthropic anger.

on top of the point she made that she doesn't listen to country music.

greta---for the most part, accents are accents and you cannot necessarily differentiate skin color based on them.

there are however other indicators by which that can be done, just not accent alone.

and country music as a genre is incredibly eclectic and in many cases, at least to the average music listener, fairly indistinguishable from pop and rock.

last point---there ARE black country singers.

Greta it makes no difference his motivation... he is mentally ill.... and we must institute stronger screening for gun owners to at least try to weed out people like this.

Butch

We don't know if he is mentally ill yet.

Oh yes we do.... unless you think killing 58 strangers is normal... there is no sane justification for this.

Lucylastic -> RE: Las Vegas shooting unfolding now (10/2/2017 1:52:02 PM)

Maybe, it also seems he was a known gambler, maybe he lost some money? but he had ten guns, this isnt a temper tantrum, spur of the moment..rage, crazy bastard

He did it because in the US, anyone at any moment could get drunk, depressed, have a bad dream, or just suddenly snap, take out their legally purchased automatic or semi-automatic weapons of war and kill a bunch of people.

I know the answer wasn't only meant to be taken literally (aka cheeky) but it just strikes me that, in this case, this has got to be some serious planning. We're talking about an individual who made hotel reservations in advance for a good shooting location, checked in the Thursday before, the girlfriend just happens to be on vacation the same weekend of the event, and so on.

There's nothing about this that says it was a spur of the moment thing.

It sounds like he spent a lot of time at casinos. I'm not sure the girlfriend being on vacation is evidence of it being thought out.
He had a lot of guns in his hotel room, but I don't see how that's so rare in the US... people carry guns around all the time, nobody does anything to stop it.

He could have just been hanging out in his room with his usual stash of guns, looked down at the concert, got the idea, and decided to go through with it.
If he was impulsive by nature, which it sort of sounds like he was, it really isn't a stretch.

I know everyone wants to look for deeper meaning in things like this, but I know people for whom a week of hardcore drinking would be enough for them to snap like this.
Serious alcoholics can get pretty messed up... it starts as a party, then goes wrong, then gets even more wrong, and finally shit like this is possible.

I agree, you don't sneak 10 rifles into a hotel room by accident.

One of my first thoughts after hearing about this was that after having his room bombarded by three days of constant very loud Country music may have just reached his limit and snapped. Vegas is the kind of town where he might have just been there to sell or buy guns and do a bit of gambling on the side.
It may not have been planned ahead of time at all. Rather that he just happened to have guns at hand when he broke.

Meh... he loved his guns.
And he wasn't doing anything unique.

http://pacevegas.com/2016/06/casino_guns/

If he was a big gambler and spent a lot of time there, they'd be even more willing to let it slide.

And it's a good thing too... otherwise we would have tyranny.

Al queda is taking responsibility saying he recently converted to islam but the fbi isn't confirming it.

ThatDizzyChick -> RE: Las Vegas shooting unfolding now (10/2/2017 2:25:51 PM)

Yeah right, that explains why he snuck them in and hid them.

I don't think he hid them.

But now I'm reading that he had tripods and 19 rifles, so I guess it must have been premeditated.
That still doesn't mean that it always has to be, which is my point anyways.

theres been research done on listening preferences and political persuasion. on the whole, country music is not a liberal predilection while it more or less is for the right...

Geftman-Gold continued: “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic].”

Amen to that.

And Darius Rucker's voice was made for country music.

Or maybe they just weren't there when the staff was cleaning.
Just because the maid doesn't find something doesn't mean it is hidden.

They were probably in a suitcase.
