Damn, I never thought of it in those terms before. But in conjunction with anther current thread, it's the best evidence yet presented that god is best described as a menopausal woman! Wondering if god's tender breasts cause earthquakes?????

though for many reasons I hate the "menopauasal, premenstral" argument... thanks!  I think the both of you are quite on track and have admired you from afar. for a long while.

As for God... perfection doesn't need favorites, even on an arc.

Status: offline 		many times I have refused to get into a battle of the bible and christianity ... and to stop your next question . yes I am catholic . I raised in a christian home . for pete sake I was an alter boy too. so now debate me on the bible as you know it . it is nothing more then a very long played out game of operator .... passing one version on to the next each translating it to mean what they need it to mean ... the Devil . he was an angel ... the chief angel if you have it .. after a fallout with the almighty . he was cast into hell to rule for eternity in damnation ..... now I have to say Puella hit right about on it . if this the truth according to your bible then our God is one of retribution . yet the bible says hes the all forgiving god
 
maybe I should walk away from this thread before I get flamed for translations of the bible that people really don't want to hear

Status: offline 		God is omnipotent, meaning all knowing, NOT all choosing.  Lucifer was jealous and he was full of pride; he made the choice to be rebellious and not follow God's laws.  Perhaps God knew what was going to happen, but He allows free will in us all, but in angels?  Lucifer, was the Archangel of Light. Since Heavenly words often have a metaphorical sense to them, Light didn't just mean illumination in the physical sense of the word, it meant that Lucifer was able to see how free will worked and could see how the angels were being deprived of it.  In Isaiah 14:12, it tells us of Lucifer's choice. "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit on the mount of assembly on the heights of Zaphon; I will ascend to the tops of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High." Look at all those "I wills."  Lucifer doesn't say that "It is God's will that I..."  I suppose the question is was Lucifer predestined for all of this.  i believe that he did have free will, like we all do.  He (we) made his own choice.  God knew his will, knows our will, because He is omnipotent, but He did not predestine Lucifer to make the choices he made, which ultimately cast him out of Heaven.

I have to say, when i first saw this forum, i couldn't believe the lunacy of it.  It's Satan, for crying out loud.  Bum rap??  Hell no! (No pun intended).  It has really made me contemplate this and do a little research on it.  i think that there will be lots of interpretations of this, from Catholics to Protestants, from believers to nonbelievers.

Status: offline 		I was raised Christian and I am still one, though I don't claim a denomination. With that you get the cartoon type character of satan and his li'l old pitchfork.  The thing about satan I always found most interesting, is that he is portrayed as ugly, scary, and with horns.  That is the farthest thing from the truth there is.  He is of great beauty, he is of light. 
 
How hard is it to stay away from something scary, demonic, and evil?  The thing about evil is it's beauty, it's pleasure, that is how you are drawn in and before you know it, you find yourself in a pit of misery and fire. 
 
I do not see the literal translation of a pit with fire, nor being tortured for the rest of eternity.  I see, what is far worse than any physical pain.  It is is eternity without God, in darkness,  separated from my Creator.  That to me is what hell is and instills far more fear in my mind than any thought of fire. 
 
To many, it is a joke.. ha ha.. I would rather party with the sinners..(or their definition of that), than to cry with the saints (again, ones version). 
 
To me, being in the dark, feeling alone from the One that created me, is no party, it is not fun, it is a pit (figurative) that I cannot climb out of.  I think that hell is even available here on earth every day.  It is a place one can exist, yet be dead. 

To know hell, is to truly fight for the light (heaven).  Those that mock that hell exists, have never visited there.  It is a place where every bit of wind screams against the skin, where every tear drips of blood, where your soul screams out in the darkness, for just a glimpse of relief, where your body aches for peace, your spirit for rest.
 
To know this, is to crave the light of existence, of bowing at the feet of my Creator, longing to bask in just the feel of Him.  That place where you know, even thru all of the pain, all of the evil in this world..that you can go and just "be", where you can just have peace.
 
I find that I babbled.. but.. Yes, satan does exist (in many forms)for Goodness to be appreciated, perhaps you must at some point be touched by true evil.
 
I know that personal faith, or lack of... is just that, personal.  These are my personal ones.

Neither author is credited with a single "Star Trek" episode.

and here's a joke for you all, just to show that hockey really is the true way........

This guy dies and goees to heaven, where he meets St. Peter, and is getting the tour. He asks if they have hockey there, and St. Peter says of course they do, all the great players of the past are there and in their prime. So the guy asks to see some of them playing, so Pete takes him to the rink, and sure enough it is great.

Wow - Aging is a scary transition. I'm just happy it seems to be effecting me from the top down. First the hair leaves, then the synapses start to loose their connections; what's next?! Should I start looking into a walker? I always thought when I get older it would make the perfect accessory for an older slave or Master. You can use it to assist in walking, and I think it would also be a great portable bondage frame.

Status: offline 		ok . for all the bible thumpers in here let me state this . the ORIGINAL teachings or prohecys as they were of the one called Jesus Christ were written in a language dead and defunct ..... it was called sandscrit .. a language with no literal translation in any modern form .. other languages have the same issues . if read as leteral in translation they make no sense but since the teacher/translator says it a certain way now it makes sense .... so in as something is once written a certain way we take it as literal from the translators point of view ...... the bible as we know it has had at least 4 different versions written over the years .. and thats all that needs to be said . what we know of satan is what someone else whispered in our ear so now we assume that it is true . the real translation was lost shortly after the death of the one called Jesus Christ

first let me say thank you to the people that made the posts about the dancing bananas and the dislexic devil worshipper for making me laff so hard.  i personally have struggled with the god/devil issue for most if not all of my life. i am a person that needs facts and tangibles to believe in something. so i searched.  it gets confusing when some religions believe Jesus is Gods son, others do not.  i bought several different versions of the bible even the one that tells it in a more understandable way, one day i was reading it an got to the part where the jews that were destined to wander never finding the promised land were once again in trouble and crying out to God to save them (when things were goin ok they didnt bother with God) and it bothered me to find out that God made a plan to free them yet again by telling one of them to commit murder....isnt that one of his own commandments that THOU SHALT NOT series?  since then i have not attempted to read the bible or understand it further than i already do.

for a long time i had a belief that reasonable explained God to me (still does)...anyone ever seen the ending to Mission to Mars?

i believe that both God and Satan are in actuality just another part of our own ying-yang make up we all have that dual sides of everything masculine/feminine Dominant/submissive good/evil it just depends on which is the stronger force within us
but i think that there will always be that internal struggle to do right or wrong.... some where along the line way back in history i think someone thought it would be easier to deal with if they were personified .....hence God and Satan.
these are just my thoughts on the subject im sorry if i went off track or have offended anyone that was not the intent. thank you for taking the time to ready my rambling thoughts.

Erm... well I think that by flooding his entire creation in a fit of rage, but sparing his favorites... and saying woops sorry won't do that again folks, my bad!... then going and destroying an entire city and a guys wife for looking back at the carnage.... for holding imperfect people accountable for their transgressions with the option of spending all of eternity in a hell, when we have no real way of even conceptualizing all of eternity....and of course, taking another of his lesser beings, Lucifer, whom he created (and that goes for the bad bits too) and using him as the ultimate fear factor for everyone to do his bidding (its not really free will if you are coerced into it, is it?) and effectively dooming the poor thing to that role for having a blow out argument with him over yanno, heavenly political issues.... I guess... well that to me demonstrates both poor judgment, lack of control and self control, errors and yep, a very very bad temper (is there an appropriate anger management class for God, maybe  he and Mel can sign up together, the do seem to be such close friends???)... which to me states far more than just a bad temper... but essential a very clear case that God is not perfect.

I mean.... if a Dom acted the way God does to his lesser beings.... just think of the names we would be calling him here on the forums!
