I did a test of a couple of profiles, I even used the same wording just different pictures, one showing a "handsome" guy, one showing an "ugly " guy and another blank.

I only got responses from the "handsome" picture. Almost all were women that the ugly guy might have considered being seen with.

Now love and lust come in strange packages, I will admit that and heck, I have known large women I have lusted after for what was inside them. That said, for them to NOT respond to the words, the SAME words, not until they were tied to a handsome face is hypocritical and far more shallow than men who at least have the integrity to admit looks matter.

So, lets see where this thread goes other than a flame fest against me for pointing out the fat elephant in the corner.

I appreciate your point and am not at all surprised with your *results*.

I was curious how you know that the *very same women* aren't emailing because of *size and looks*?...... Did you mean that in the literal sense?

For clarity.....Are you saying that the VERY same women that ferociously defend * fatness* have responded to your *thin and handsome* profile?......and not your * fat and ugly* one?

Anyhowww........ You know, it's one thing to accept that people that are fat are rather wonderful etc, etc... but quite another to be attracted to someone fat yourself.

So basically, your complaint appears to be that the people upon whom you are inclined to cast harsh and petty judgment are not your moral superiors?

I find it repellent that you felt the need to characterize a bunch of women as "fat, old or ugly", and then "test" them to see whether they would respond better to an offer from someone who would be regarded by society as "above their station". The results of the "test" are not surprising from a number of standpoints, however; most of the people in the world are beaten down by all this superficial bullshit. Not surprising, considered how many times a day they are bombarded with messages about the superiority of "Beautiful People".

For your next amazing bit of research, pick out a group of women who are "fat, old and ugly" and leave a hundred dollar bill on the ground in front of them. First put it in a brown paper bag that cost 33 cents; then put it in a brightly-colored Macy's bag with tissue paper and ribbons. See which bag they're more likely to pick up and look inside.

Soooooooo… I don’t mean to hijack this thread; but aren’t people allowed their personal preferences? I just got dumped by a guy because we are polar opposites politically (and he’s rabid about his politics) and…while he apparently thought he could ‘deal’ with my extra 30#; his reaction to my 38D’s was (and I quote); when you loose weight, we can get them reduced and more perky. LOL

Sure, it kinda hurt; I was looking forward to getting to know the guy better. He had absolutely NO sense of humor about bush and, as I’ve said elsewhere, went apoplectic when I said I liked Clinton as a president.

Any who…. A few months ago I chatted with a guy who’s actually not all that far away. We exchanged several many notes and seemed to be doing fine, when he let it (a bomb in my book) drop that he was in the process of adopting his five-year old granddaughter! I promptly told him I wished him well and hoped he had a happy the rest of his life.

He was flummoxed! I figured I was being polite by not just ‘poofing’; but he still has not accepted it that I just will not date a guy with a kid at home. I’m done with parenting. I raised three little brothers when my mom died (I was 19) and I was a single mother to a seriously handicapped son. I’m done with it…

So, my question is: do I have that right? I believe I do…OF COURSE I DO, even! But…I get as much harassment for ‘my’ choice regarding this as do some guys for not wanting to date my rather large breasts. <shrugs>

That sentence is quite telling, anondom. It suggests that you're more interested in what other people think of you when you are seen with someone rather than the person you've been seen with. Your image of yourself is far more important to you than your interest in another person.

I wonder if that may be why you tend not to get the kind of responses you want. If you are so superficial, it is natural that you will attract superficial people; and it is natural that superficial people will reject someone who is considered "fat", "ugly", or "old."

If you are really looking for someone who is not shallow, then I recommend that you become someone who is not shallow. It will probably be too hard for you, though. Thus, I will recommend masturbation.

Unless you don't turn even yourself on.

Which could, in fact, be possible. Do you mind being seen with yourself?

I'm not Brad Pitt, nor do I even play him on television. But I do get my share of responses from women. But I think it has a lot more to do with attitude and personality than the fact that I am a dead ringer for Fabio. Really, I am. Okay, maybe not, but that just means Fabio has got more work to do to catch up to me.

The point is: It's easy to make these complaints and base them off of very singular moments in time, but my experience has told me that if you are seeking a QUALITY partner, then you're probably going to have a lot more luck if you are a QUALITY seeker. What this means is that it's not about hooking up, getting a sex partner or chasing anything hot that moves. It means being honest with yourself with what you seek and then doing the impossible: Being honest with those you are trying to convince you are as honest as you claim to be.

I didn't mean that directed at you particularly. I just remembered this thread from its first outing. At the time I thought 'ho hum, another high school kid who thinks he's clever for pointing out people's hypocrisy.'

But then these threads generally seem to go on for ages so what do I know? People must get something out of them.

I am very over weight. And I know there are many out there that do not find that appealing. I have no problem with that. I do not however think of myself as unattractive or ugly. So I find it offensive that you would assume, I would go for some guy who is physically unappealing to me. Why would I? It infers that I am lesser then, and do not deserve a man I find attractive. Everyone has their preferences. We have to look within ourselves to love ourselves, and not to others to help us love ourselves. Do looks count? Absolutely. Are they the only thing that counts? No.

Exactly Im over waigth so that means I have to settle for someone I dont find atractive just because some dont find me attractive that makes a lot of sence!!! There is nothing wrong with haveing standerds but at least I dont come here makeing threads about why ever Dom is over waight or scrawny or old I dont complain about others apearances and I dont expect others to complain about mine!!!
