No, I'm still a newbie to the Ren-faire scene :) I do have friends in the SCA and occasionally try to make it to an event. My work schedule tries to prevent me from having any fun though, so I don't get to go too often.

Hmmm......I don't do any drugs but caffiene. Maybe you should talk to your doc about changing birth control drugs.

What's your macronutrient composition? Eg, carbs, protein, fat?  Fiddling with that, and with the type and duration of your workouts (more resistance training, less low intensity cardio) is generally the most effective tweak for stubborn weight loss.

Losing on a low fat, high-GI index carb diet is difficult and with some metabolisms it literally sets you up for failure. You might try isocaloric (a third of your calories from protein, a third from fat and the remainder from low glycemic index carbs) or straight low carb. 

And yeah, go off the hormones if it's remotely possible.  They can fuck you up but good when you're trying to lose weight.

Weight lifting and protein is your friend!  Works for me, and a strong arm helps me whack the shit out of my opponents when boffer larping.  Also it's nice to have endurance for jogging in armor.   [8D]

I did, sigh. 3 years ago in fact. I switched from a tricyclen to a monocyclen and it has helped but I've never been able to get all the weight off. Without any change in my eating habits, I went from a  120lbs to 220lbs. Changed the pills, cut my calories from about 2200 to 1500, upped my exercise from 3x a week to 5, and yet here I am, 3 yrs later, still stuck at 185. Oh well, shit happens! And now I meet better guys, so I don't stress it too much.

Thank you for the advice, I will definately look into that! I generally just watch my calories and fat content.  I could definately use some beefing up for larping :P

I don't do much in regards to weights. It's mostly aerobics.

I do plan on going off the BC after my tubal, so maybe it will help!

Too much aerobics, too little protein and fat, too many hormones....yep, no surprise you're having trouble losing that last bit of weight.  Eat more protein, cut the high glycemic index carbs out completely, and dump the low intensity long duration aerobics.  Focus on resistance work (eg, weight lifting or machines that provide resistance) and high intensity interval aerobics with shorter duration.  Eat moderate to high glycemic index carbs only when you're glycogen-depleted (eg, after a resistance workout) and only in small quantity.

Well, no, you aren't doing the wrong thing exactly.  But there are some tactics that are more effective than others for body recomposition under specific circumstances.  What you've been doing is not generally all that effective in your specific set of circumstances, so tweaks are called for. 

I'd like to emphasize that I don't think there is anything *wrong* with being a plus size, and you can be in pretty decent physical health and still be overweight by society's standards.  But if you truly *want* to lose body fat and gain muscle, then there are effective ways to accomplish your goals.

Attraction is odd.  I prefer dark, tall, well built men.  i want a power house.  With good jaw lines.  Saying that, i'm not really looking for anyone. 

People are shallow in general, but its not always shallowness.  Sometimes its just the laws of attraction.  If you sent a photo of a short, squat, balding guy with a funny looking face.. he might not be considereed attractive.  Why dig deeper with some one you dun find attractive? 

Its simply the way the world works.  Ya dun get hired if they dun like yer looks.  Some will like them, some wont. 

you know and i HAVE dug deeper with those i didnt really find attractive.  Never works out well.  I'm not one of those girls who can just close my eyes and pretend they look different as i'm kissing or trying to get the dirty on.  Unlike MOST guys, i cant put a flag over the face and do it for the country.  I tried, i felt disgusted. 

i dun get the whole pissiness with "they dun like the way i look so that means their BAD"  i'm a LARGE women and MEN who dont like LARGE women are SHALLOW.  or the flip i'm a HAIRY guy and women who cant over look the rug on my back are SHALLOW. 

Hell, i'm a short girl with brown hair even.  Some guys like Tall Blondes.  Does that make guys who like talls blondes shallow?  Naaaah.. just means they have a preference. 

Whats wrong with having a preference? 

cant please all the people all the time.  So um, folks i think you just need to be happy with pleasing some of the ppl some of the time and stop GRIPING about not pleasing everyone.

Go tell that to anorexics!  Go tell anorexics that all they have
to do is eat more, and exercise less.  Tell them they have
no discipline.  
 
In the long run, most people have very control over how they 
eat and how much they exercise.   People with an active CNS
eat less and exercise more.  People with a depressed CNS
eat more and exercise less.  Overweight and underweight
people can fight their body chemistry, but 98% of the time,
it is a losing battle. Actually, anorexics have a much better
chance of recovery than people who are obese.
 
A normal person does not have to go around feeling faint
and hungry all day to maintain their weight.  Normal people
feel a burst of energy when they eat food.  When obese
people eat food, instead of feeling a burst of energy they
feel tired.  The more energy you feel you have, the more
you will exercise.  No one has to tell most teenagers to
exercise.  And the body does not autmatically slow down
as we age.  There are plenty of people just as active and
enegetic in their eighties as they were in their teens.  The
issue of obesity is much more complicated than most people
and most doctors think. 
 
The body produces natural amphetamines like adrenalin
and cortisol.  When the receptors in the body lose sensitivity
to these hormones, humans become more sluggish and eat
more.  So, yes what people eat and how much they exercise
matter, but ultimately people don't have a choice over how
much they eat and exercise. 
 
I eat little and exercise from morning to night.  It is not a
choice, but a compulsion.  I couldn't eat more if I wanted
to, and I couldn't exercise less if I wanted to.  I don't
exercise for health reasons. There is no reason for me
not to believe that obese people have a craving to eat
more and don't feel the energy I feel.  No one could be
obese if they had my body chemistry.  There is no choice
involved in weight.  I do no choose how much I eat. 
I do not chose my weight.
 
But myths are hard to destroy.

Oh, I'm raising my hand here. I'm shallow..yup, I am. If I'm looking for a partner, I want it to be with someone who is gonna be a pleasure for me to look at, to lust after, to admire. Looks aren't gonna get it on their own, I want more than just that. The best looking man on earth is gonna start looking ugly if he has an ugly heart and mind. I want the whole package. Yup!
If two men approach me at the same time, same personality, they're both great guys, they both have the humor I like, guess who I'm picking LOL
Example, again approached all at the same time:
I'd rather date someone who looks like Barry Manalow (sp) than someone who looked like Christopher Reeves (in his prime).
I'm not saying I like all Barry's music, but he's a nice guy. Christopher Reeves was a nice guy too, but I never found him attractive at all, not my type. But if Jon Bon Jovi wanted to date me..hey, I'm there. He's just sweet all the way around. Toss in Einstein into the equation (ha ha), I'd be in a quandry
I'm just giving the above examples of people who you'd probably know what they look like and a type of chrisma they exude.

To the OP:
As far as age goes: my slave is 32. I am 20 going on 21. Age doesn't factor into it.
As far as weight, both of my boys are larger than I am, and I am 220lbs. So, shallow I am not. Ultimately it is the person behind the body that makes the difference to me, not the other way around. Bodies change, personalities don't.

Now see, I read this, and I thought, "ah, pathetic and desperate, I better look at this profile", so I do and all I see is compatable interests - you even had the balls (guts?) to state your weight - 5-4, 150 sounds plump, not fat to me - unless your talking stones - anyway, I'm tall, reasonably fit and  attractive, and I kinda like short, plump women, but hell nobody ever ever responds to me - I solicit both 19 year old breadsticks, and 50-something grapefruit, all with the same result, nada.

I'd contact you in a heartbeat, just for being honest about how much you weigh (not more than I do), and our outside interests correspond as well, which is even more intriguing, and I think you're probobly selling yourself short - no pun intended - I just usually confine my searches to a more localized area.

Hmmm... travel much?
