Oh Well, I tried.

Here's the thing: Voting does do you good.  A far wiser man than I once said "Democracy is a system where the uninformed many control the informed few."  The problem isn't the politicians, it's the other people in the system who vote against what you want who are the "problem."

If everyone was informed, read up on the candidates, and voted for them based on party allegiance, personal record, and other salient issues (past scandals, murdering secretaries, alcoholism and the likes) you would not have a 98% incumbency rate.

Yours,

benji

but it's the informed few that actually control the elections and leads the uninformed many to believe they have a say...but they really don't...it already decided, they are just putting on a show to make us think we're doing good.

Well one thing is beyond speculation.

If you do not vote, you will not make any difference.

It's just such a labor to take 10 minutes and cast a vote... might miss some of the game or Survivor or Desperate Housewives or something.. and I am not about to lose my right to TV just to exercise my right to vote.... that sure would be dumb.  Anyway, I can always gripe on a message board, even if it is hypocritical to do so having not cast a vote.

michaelGA2 -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 5:31:51 PM)

why...someone's probably placing a vote on my behalf anyway...like i said...it's rigged. (i wonder how many people in the cemetaries are still counted in the voting process)

cuddleheart50 -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 5:32:49 PM)

Michael, I know that you are smarter than that.

Level -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 5:33:40 PM)

Yes I'll vote, I always have. Got to get Governor Hair out of office.

michaelGA2 -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 5:33:47 PM)

i know, that's why i don't bother...i'm not falling for it.

gooddogbenji -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 5:36:39 PM)

It seems Michael has had a relapse, just as he was doing so well for a while.

Oh well, I don't pander to crying children.

Its a ONE PARTY system masquarading as a two party system.

Welcome to democracy - if enough people cared about their own lives to do research and run as independants, or even to vote for for people with a good track record, or to simply not vote for people who have scandals behind them, or, hell, I'll settle for voting, rather than bitching about how it does no good, you might no be here bitching about how it does no good.

Now I'll refer you to my previous comment about crying children.

First of all....we don't live in a "democracy".....we are SUPPOSED to live in a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC....which we sure-as-hell don't.

I WON'T vote for the evil of two lessers...but I will vote for a Constitution candidate....if one is available.

I'll throw out the question then:  What is the difference between a democracy and a constituional blablabla?  Yes, I know the answer, and to me it's close enough.

And by not voting for the lesser of two evils, you endorse the greater of the two.  Hey, your choice, just don't bitch about it.

benji

sissifytoserve -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 6:42:58 PM)

A Constitutional Rebulic is a purely representative government in the best sense of the word....where as a "democracy" is essentially mob rule.

EX: If 51% of the population think killing all shoplifters is good...basically it becomes law.

The ones who don't complain about it are part of the problem.

Period.

I guess Paul Revere shouldn't have "Bitched about it" when it came to the tyrannical British.

cuddleheart50 -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 6:45:11 PM)

You are right, you shouldnt vote.

gooddogbenji -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/16/2006 6:49:48 PM)

LOL, cuddles!

Okay, the difference between a pure democracy and a whachamcallit is that you guys have a constitution protecting you.  In a pure democracy, the elected officials can do whatever the hell they want.  The rest is democratic - you vote for senators, reps, and the pres.

And there is a difference between bitching and making a difference.  Bitching is uninformed whining about how the world sucks.  Being useful would mean voting for change, writing letters, and reading something other than playboy (I swear, I get it for the articles!)

Yours,

benji

You have no idea what you are talking about.
