I agree with you cuddleheart (and thanks for the email btw, I am sorry I didn't respond to it, but I was in the throws of madness at the time... jury is still out if I am still in the throws of madness or not, but that is a totally different poll, I think). I am not rich; I am not powerful, and honestly have very little desire to change my life to attain those things, as they are not of the most value to me in terms of leading a 'good' life. Saying that, however, I will not sit back on my ass and lick my self proclaimed wounds and not utilize what rights and powers, however flawed they may be, to effect positive change, or even just the foundations of a positive change. To me, that means voting, writing letters and making phone calls to the officials who are elected to serve me. It means actually voting and legitimizing the voice I have when speaking to those elected officials ( they can check voting records, remember). It means doing what I can for causes I believe in, be it offering what little money or support I can. And it also means volunteering to in some way do something which benefits society and others, not just my own agendas. I have very little time for people who have complaints and conspiracy theories, who in the next breath tell me they do not vote, and give a list of apethetic reasons why voting means and changes nothing. There is no greater hypocrisy, in my book.
