I agree with you cuddleheart (and thanks for the email btw, I am sorry I didn't respond to it, but I was in the throws of madness at the time... jury is still out if I am still in the throws of madness or not, but that is a totally different poll, I think).

I am not rich; I am not powerful, and honestly have very little desire to change my life to attain those things, as they are not of the most value to me in terms of leading a 'good' life.

Saying that, however, I will not sit back on my ass and lick my self proclaimed wounds and not utilize what rights and powers, however flawed they may be, to effect positive change, or even just the foundations of a positive change.  To me, that means voting, writing letters and making phone calls to the officials who are elected to serve me.  It means actually voting and legitimizing the voice I have when speaking to those elected officials ( they can check voting records, remember). It means doing what I can for causes I believe in, be it offering what little money or support I can.  And it also means volunteering to in some way do something which benefits society and others, not just my own agendas.

I have very little time for people who have complaints and conspiracy theories, who in the next breath tell me they do not vote, and give a list of apethetic reasons why voting means and changes nothing.  There is no greater hypocrisy, in my book.

My feelings exactly puella. [:D]

Maybe me and you should run for president!

puella -> RE: Will You Be Voting in November? (9/17/2006 10:33:47 AM)

Hehe, I am not presidential material, I am too idealistic.. I would make a much better first lady...fucking the president (and yanno giving him the things he might need to relax after a long stressful day saving our nation... Hey, paint me patriotic, I'm willing to fuck for America!), hosting fabulous parties and trying to effect change with my own voice, without having to worry so much about partisan politics.  (Wonder how many FL's have been bound, 'tortured' and used like the sluts they are in the White House....maybe I will write Whitehouse.gov and see if they have those stats...lol)

Hahaha, for some it could be a campaign slogan!  Hell, I'd wear that button to a rally!

Hmmm... maybe I should write Russ Feingold and see if he will have me?  (woo hoo double entendre!)

I have to go to the mall today, and I'm gonna go to that store that makes buttons and I'm gonna have them make me some that says....Fuck for America....gosh, I just love that!  [:D]

You should care, and you should vote, because our freedom, peace of mind, survival and world peace is at stake.    M

Yes and anyone "IN" office I will vote against.
In 2008 there are a lot of people in this state who will be voting against Sen. Lindsey Graham after he voted for that Senate "Amnesty" Bill.
The people in this state are* Enraged* at him for voting for that P.O.S.
I'll be up at 0600 on election day 2008 to vote him out of office for sure!
Splash one Senator!

That is only in the primaries,... you can vote anyway you like in November.. I thought you should know that

I wish that were true.

They changed this about a year and a half ago.

I have researched this and it appears that pick-a-party ballots only apply in primaries... perhaps there is some other information you could point me to? I am really interested in these sorts of things..they are so fluid and they affect all of us, not just people living in your state.

Good article.

All I can tell you is, I've been getting the mailer ballot for about 15 years because I travel so often that being there on a specific day to vote just doesn't work for me and the last time we voted for Governor, in November, my ballot stated that if I chose a Republican, I had to make any and all of my choices as Republican.

Maybe it's been changed back...it created a huuuuuge firestorm when it first came out.  It so disgusted me that I haven't voted again.
