Alright, final one for today.

This dessert which I have typically when I visit the filipino family is like gelatin, yet has no gelatin in it. It shares a few things in common with pennicilin actually in how it is created or first created actually since now it can be found canned in certian really ethnic food areas, I had to go to Vegas's Chinatown plaza to help the old lady find this stuff.

Creep Level - 3 since its pretty exotic for most of you folks, but not really creepy, in fact it's pretty damn tasty, I'd have it over jello anyday.

Lorelei115 -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 10:30:09 PM)

I'd say agar agar?

All hail the mighty Wikipedia..

"Agar is an unbranched polysaccharide obtained from the cell walls of some species of red algae or seaweed. The word agar comes from the Malay word agar-agar (meaning jelly). It is also known as kanten or agal-agal (Ceylon agar). Chemically, agar is a polymer made up of subunits of the sugar galactose. Agar polysaccharides serve as the primary structural support for the algae's cell walls. Dissolved in hot water and cooled, agar becomes gelatinous. Its chief use is as a culture medium for microbiological work. Other uses are as a laxative, a vegetarian gelatin substitute, a thickener for soups, in jellies, ice cream and Japanese desserts such as anmitsu, as a clarifying agent in brewing, and for paper sizing fabrics."

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 10:39:41 PM)

nata de coco?

Bingo.

Nata de coco is made by growing a culture on some coconut water. You know, bacteria...like growing a culture netted us pennecillien or however it's spelled.

Pretty damn good, has to be sweetened though, I love it.

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 10:50:55 PM)

Okay so at the end of round one.

Our champ Erin leads with 2 points, Aileen with 1 from the spider, and the newcomer Willow gets on the board with another single.

See ya'll tomarrow.

And you refuse to eat kefir - culture is culture, hon.

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/28/2006 2:22:29 PM)

Alright, another day, another round, i'll start with something less complex.

This fruit is not widley known, yet it is one of the biggest in the world, it is known for being able to kill a man when it falls from the tree, dosent really look like the most friendly fruit in the world.

Creep Level - 5 for a very good reason to be uncovered in the hints.
