Ever read Mike Royko, Sinergy?  He granted absolution to the verbal 'mis-understanderings' of Chicago's Mayor Daley (the first one) by saying, "he said it, we understood it, what more can you ask of a language?"  If your audience doesn't understand what you are trying to express, no matter how many times or slowly they read it, who's the monkey?

Hello WyrdRich,

I have had any number of intelligent replies which tended to assure me that my points were understood from other people, in the 3-4 years I have been on this board, to things I have posted.

I find it mildly amusing that you refer to yourself as "my audience."

I am not interested in helping you try to figure out who the monkey is, but I do wish you success in all of your endeavors.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

After the age of consent thing has been taken off the table and levels of hypocrisy have been overlooked (and you'd need a pretty tall ladder to do that), all that remains is sexual harassment in the workplace, which I believe is still a criminal offense.

Then there is Hastert, the guy who must have learned how to hide perverts from the Catholic Church. Personally, I hope he doesn't resign. I hope it takes a long time to get out of office and that the process takes as many conscum congresswhores with him as possible.

If Foley was truly apologetic about his actions, he would have revealed the name of the alleged priest who molested him.. if he actually exists.

I think that former Congressman Jerry Studds (D-Mass) was appointed to a House Committee AFTER (he) had actual sex with a 17 year old male page. Anyone remember?
And then there was Cong. Barney Frank also of Mass and gay who's boyfriend "Hot Bottom" (That was his knickname) was using his Georgetown brownstone as a house of homosexual prostitution.
Of course Cong. Frank claimed he knew nothing about it.

Now we are getting into homosexual bashing with the Franks case.

Julia, what "bashing?" Franks admitted he did it and was censured in the House.

Bringing up something he did not know about is bashing... would it even have come up if he was not gay?

Hello A/all,

I have to agree with this.  Politicians have been dipping/been dipped their/other peoples wicks for as long as we have had politicians.

There is a distinct difference between a [insert proclivity here] politician's significant other doing [blah] and a politician sexually molesting (per criminal statutes) a minor in their charge / employ.

I personally am happy that Clinton got a hummer.  He is a man whose nickname as the Governor of Arkansas was "Zipper" for his philandering.  I am personally shocked that anybody cared.  His alleged "lie under oath" was actually a rhetorical (or personal justification that Clinton had convinced himself of) argument that the word "sex" implied vaginal intercourse, whereas oral sex was not technically "sex."  It simply happened to be used against him by the holier than thous running Congress to kick him out of office, as they had so diligently tried to do for most of his terms.

What makes me almost ashamed to be an American, although understandable considering our puritanical predecessors and tendencies, is the fact that so many American citizens expressed outrage at him doing it.  Reminds me of the way Greyhounds chase an electronic rabbit controlled by other people.  Or perhaps Pavlov's dogs.  I personally am unwilling to be just another sheep suckling at the teat of Faux News, CNN, etc.

As a kinkster, I personally find it rather shocking that people in this lifestyle would be upset by what Franks did or what Clinton did, etc.  The primary difference between Foley and those other people is that the Holier Than Thous in Congress covered up an illegal activity for years, probably during times when they were beating up other people from their Holier Than Thou pulpits about those people's illicit behaviors.

It is just amazing to me.  But in the words of Stimpy, "Happy Happy Joy Joy Joy"

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Julia, running a house of prostitution is, evidently illegal in Georgetown.
Barney Frank would have known that. And how could he not have known that his own home was being used as a whorehouse?
Same thing with drug houses.
"I didn't know" is not an excuse.

Remember to tell Monkeyboy that when he uses that as his defense against treasonous acts committed and violation of constitutional law after he is no longer protected by his ReThuglican cronies.

Sinergy, he pleaded "No-Lo" on it and took a centure from the House on it.
It was a Brownstone, only one front door and one back door.

You insinuated he lied about his knowledge without proof, had he been proven to have known more would have happened then simple censure

No lo contendre, if I remember correctly, means "I am not admitting guilt, but I am not going to waste my time defending myself against the charges, so do what you will to me."  It is frequently used by people who dont want to waste their lives fighting ridiculous charges and simply want to get on with their lives.  It is also sometimes used by guilty people to avoid admitting guilt.

He did not admit to being guilty, regardless of what you might believe.  He also was not found guilty, regardless of what you might believe.  You can believe
you know why he pleaded no lo contendre, but this is and will always be simply
your own personal opinion.

I am not sure what the architecture of the building has to do with anything, but I will certainly stipulate that it is somehow relevant to your point.

How exactly could a man with the last name of Studds NOT get a standing ovation from Congress for sexual pecadillos.  Im surprised they didnt erect a phallic monument in his honor.

But that is just me, and I could be wrong.

I'm interested. Which is the worse of the following?

1) a grown adult man in a position of power, soliciting and/or having sex with a 16 year old girl
2) a grown adult man in a position of power, soliciting and/or having sex with a 16 year old boy

It's the spin out of trouble scam.
I'm sure a PR agency is handling the whole thing.
When he gets through all the steps. The last one likely being born again. He may actually get reelected to something. If not, there is always evangelist. Or of course priesthood He has all the qualifications.

Playfulone, ah....there was something  very illegal about what Clinton did; he lied UNDER OATH about it
He lied about doing another woman.  For all we know his wife knew and they have an open marriage, which is none of our Goddamned business unless we are personally interested in blowing him, and therefore jealous.

Well, Hillary was in a damned if she divorced him and damned if
she stayed with him position.  Either way, I think that she made
the decision to stay with him in spite of his wandering earlier
in their marriage.

The one person I felt sorry for in that whole mess?
Chelsea

The adults did what they did and had to live with it.
She was in the midst of the whole crises and only 18
at the time, getting ready for college.  That had to suck.

You or I would go to prison for that!
How many people in modern history go to jail for cheating?  You have to lie about sex, because the truth is too shocking most of the time, especially if it looks like cheating to the masses.

Many people cheat and lie.  Clinton happened to get caught
and was already a public figure.

quote:

And he was Impeached by the House of Representatives for it
Only because they were jealous wankers in my opinion.

I like the Italian take on the whole situation.  They found it
laughable that the Americans were shocked by the President's
indiscretions.  They called the story, "Sexygate"!

quote:

I don't think it's right for anyone in public office to use their position to take advantage of another person sexually but that's just me
Oh puhleez!   Everyone uses what they have in order to get what they want.   Sex is something a lot of people want, and will go to great lengths to get.   It's primal, necessary!

This will all be out of the news before the election -- I expect Dick Cheney to invite Foley to go quail hunting and the problem will be solved.
LMAO, that would be a good news story.   M

How about taking all the politicians out to a remote island
and letting them have their own "Survivor" or "Lost" reality show?
