It is almost worth giving up on this forum in one sense because certain key people, such as Northern, Chaingang and CrappyDom have ruined it for everybody.  We can not even have a fun thread without it being trashed by politics.  This forum should be renamed the Politics forum and let those three run rampant in it.

I tend to agree that it should be a hard limit so we can get back to having some fun like it was before they came around.  Most forums actually prohibit politics as a topic.  Bring on the boobies!!!!!  lol

Kenin, I have a not so sneaking feeling you have a dented ego after being tied in knots on more than a few occasions.

I seem to remember you diving into more than a few Christian and Bush related threads so perhaps practicing what you preach would be a good start with toning down the politics?

More importantly, let me know when you start your "boobies" thread because it sounds like more fun than you can shake a stick at!

Not me. I have my own political views and the only one who I discuss them with is those who I know for a fact are open minded enough not to become idiots when they clash.

pretty pathetic if you ask me

I enjoy people who have a difference of views from mine; I enjoy a good spirited debate in which all participants are aware that their views will not be shared by all.

I am disgusted though when someone is convinced that their view is THE view and consistantly try to prove that.

Oh all right, it's 3 A.M. here, so I'll take a stab at it.

Bush and the fucking Republicans are not fucking idiots.  They're greedy motherfuckers whose primary purpose is to enrich themselves and their cronies.  And they're prepared to violate the law, lie to the American people, and undermine the Constitution in order to get their way.

OK, on to the second part.  The Democrats will not be our saviors until they are prepared to tame the corporations that are ass-raping the human race.  They're nowhere near ready to take that step because they don't think they can be elected without sucking corporate cock.  But until they do, they'll always be the party that has to explain why it's soft on everything from crime and national security to family values and immigration.

Are you just as disgusted when some one elses view  match yours -and  they are convinced and consistantly try to prove it. Or just disgusted when it doesnt match your own

Hi Scooter. No, it's not a limit, but I would have little patience for someone who thought they knew it all, or that could only see one side of an issue, and they certainly would have to have other interests, to keep mine.

I couldn't agree more Level. To the casual observer however, it appears that they all must be right...if you don't believe it, just ask them...lol.

I'm very passionate about politics and the current state of our nation.  I would find it difficult to be involved closely with someone who was of a strongly opposing opinion, as we would clash, or who was ambivalent, as I take it very seriously.

That being said, there is life outside of politics.  My closest friend is conservative whereas I am liberal.  We mostly avoid that subject and agree to disagree.  Our friendship is not based on our political beliefs.  There is more to each of us than our opinion on a particular topic.

I have known some very nice right wing people. I would trust them, break bread with them, talk with them, and laugh with them... even about politics... but I do not fuck them

I am with you, I want to know that the person beating the crap outta me for our mutual pleasure has a similar value system to my own, even if they claim they are apolitical. In other words, it is the values that form political ideology and the intelligence that goes along with it I am looking for... not party affiliation.

I want to know the person who ties me up is not prejudiced, has some superiority complex based upon his ethnicity or gender, and wants to be kind to small children, the elderly, and animals. I want to know they care about planet Earth and her inhabitants... you know... that sort of thing.

Amen!   We don't have to mention the word politics at all, and I'll know we are misaligned politically because of what he values in his everyday life or by what he continually boasts about in his life.   I simply don't do well (respect/like to phuck 'em) with people who are very different on those positions from myself.   M

It is amazing to me the amount of people who are totally absorbed with political ideology and who constantly interject politics into otherwise non-political discussions. I see party affiliations slung about, reference to right wing, left wing mentioned, conservatives versus liberals and probably some other defining characteristics I didn’t even pick up on. I can’t help but wonder, who really cares? Is this really that big of a deal to some people? My take on it is that anyone who is so obsessed with politics that it seems their very essence and most of their opinions are derived from it, are a little too surreal. I can’t help thinking that someone probing for a political view or party affiliation, soon after an introduction, would only receive a “see ya” in most instances”. It’s tough enough to find compatible people under the best circumstances; it seems a bit self defeating to bring yet another obstacle into the equation. Anyone else just not give a damned about someone’s politics?

DUH!!! Politics is government. Government is the way we try and run out society. I t affects every aspect of our lives.
It totally PISSES ME OFF!! when people think politics has nothing to do with them! It has everything to do with all of us !!! It SHOULD be in most of our discussions. It's too bad that so many that are very shallow in their depth of information often yap the loudest and most. That goes for left and right.

Sorry but I disagree. Politics may be a part of my life, but it does NOT affect every aspect.

Politics is the process by which groups make decisions. Although the term is generally applied to behavior within governments, politics is observed in all human (and many non-human) group interactions, including corporate, academic, and religious institutions.

Political science (also political studies) is the study of political behavior and examines the acquisition and application of power.
