That's why I don't like going to "Munches", too many obese people at them.
Hey, how about Munches for non-obese people only?
We're in the minority these days anyway.

Hope ur ready for the flaming!!

Personally i think that opinion is bang out of order.
I excercise usually but cant at the moment as i have been in hospital having a laparoscopy, cystectomy and adhesion correction. I have a litre of jelly in my abdomen at the moment trying to keep my ovaries, bladder, uterus and bowel from reconnecting. I cant get in any of my clothes and am having to wear jogging pants all the time. The looks i have got - i look obese at the moment are really hurtful. Maybe being obese isnt healthy or attractive to some but comments like you just made are not needed.

i know that there are some people that are slightly over weight for what ever reason however there is a difference between carrying a bit of extra weight and being obese, clinically obese or even morbidly obese.

as for the question of whether being in shape would improve your experience, well would you prefer it if your domme or sub was in shape or not.

Of course i would prefer a fit and healthy Dom - that would be my choice.
However that was not the point of my post. The point was that to make the statemnents made by popeye was insensitive and bang out of order. Who is he to say their should be munches where obese people are banned?

Missturbation, obese people could have their own Munches.
"For obese only". I wouldn't have a problem with that, would you?

Well some folks DO have medical conditions that cause the weight to remain or cause weight gain.  But compared to the number of food addicts the ratios are very low.  Just look at the number of food commercials and fast food joints.  Many events revolve around food.  i eat to live, rather than live to eat.  It is a mindset that i had adopted many years ago, when i watched some members of my family let their health go, didn't get themselves help and used food as their crutch for their emotional and mental issues.  Just a thought.  i don't go out of my way to pick on anyone that is obese, for we each have our vices.  Some are just more visible than others.

Personal Opinion:
Most physical activities that get intense are easier when you are in better shape. Its a fact, since the body is better suited to sustain the work.  That doesnt mean that if you are out of shape you wont enjoy it, it just might mean that you will not be able to sustain the higher level of phsyical activity for as long.
Being in physically good shape does not strictly mean not being obese.  If you are extremely UNDERweight, you will have many the same problems with enery and stamina that the overweight have.  Most people focus on the obesity angle and forget about the other side. I have dealt with speople who are severly underweight as well and it was just as bad of not worse than when I ad been with heavier set people.

But to answer the question, yes, I enjoy my activities more when I am in good shape.

Actually, I'm all in favor of holding two separate Munches--one where obese people are NOT allowed, and one where everyone is welcome.

'Cause, y'know, it's really rare that I get the opportunity to cull the herd of superficial, insensitive, self-involved jagoff's so efficiently, before I ever have to meet them.

Yes..but don't be so sure that a BBW cant be in shape..
anyone here want to armwrestle?
I think anyone who is flabby is gross looking..
but that's one of my personal dislikes..
In keeping to the question that the OP asked..
yes of course..we should be in shape
unless you like  your Dom or sub panting heavily and swooning...

well, i say forget the gym or whatever and spend that time having sex and sceneing. and the money you save you can spend on equipment! sure, you may need to recover from the shingles (ouch) first...

Hello A/all,

In the days of Yore, I used to teach 4 martial arts classes a week.  Go to Aerobics 3 days a week.  Work out in the weight room 2 days a week.  Go rollerblading or playing football (the real kind, called soccer in the states) or basketball 3 days a week.  On the weekends I would do things like hiking and biking and goofing off with my kids.

Now I am old and flabby.  I am a mock assailant to women in full-contact self defense 2-4 days a week.  I pick up jobs like portering (carrying people's luggage off ships) and lashing (hooking up steel bars to containers on a ship) and steel hold jobs (looping up huge chains to 2-8 ton coils of steel cable or pipe) 2-3 times a week.  And I am starting to get back into east coast swing (jitterbugging) dancing 2-3 nights a week.  Although I am a bit worried about myself, I went to Octoberfest last weekend and was grumpy that the stupid band only played three (3) Polka songs the whole evening.

Whats up with that?

I could not tell you what Zip code my Ballys membership card is in as I have moved a few times in the last 3 years.  Going to a gym just bores the hell out of me.

I have never looked overly buff and macho-mannish.  I look like a regular average build guy.  I have never really cared what I look like.  But I want to have a physique that when I decide for shitzengiggles to go bouldering in Joshua Tree, that I will be able to scramble around climbing rocks for hours and hours and hours.

I dont know if being out of shape would negatively impact scening.  I feel fine scening.  I would imagine the people I scene with would have a better answer as to whether being in shape positively affects scening.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Sinergy

You are absolutely right.  What this lifestyle and the world in general needs is much more intolerance of other people.

i go to munches for non-assholes only.   to each their own.

Popeye, you know, i used to think you were just being funny, but i guess i was wrong.  you're an incredibly ill-mannered and insensitive person who has no idea how to act in polite society.  Appearantly that can't be cured by walking 5 miles a day.  Any submissive that would place herself under the leadership of such a jerk will spend her days wanting to apologise to others for your behavior.  How sad for her.

Akasha, my life just doesn't revolve around food.
I eat once or twice a day.
That "Munch" was a real orgy of eating. And there were 3-4 kinds of Macaroni & Cheese! I mean should obese people really be eating macaroni & cheese? And one lettuce and tomato salad that pretty much sat there all night next to a huge tin of lasagna that didn't last an hour. And talk about cakes, pies, brownies and cookies!
And it was all about politics, in-fighting and eating. Maybe 10% of it had anything to do with B&D S&M.
Maybe we should do away with "Munches" and just have "Socials" with coffee, tea and soft drinks.
And since people of average weight or slender people are now "in the minority" why shouldn't we be able to have our own functions like anyone else?

Because most people aren't that shallow, thats why.

Edited to add: Why did this have to turn into another overweight bashing thread? The OP was asking about being in shape, as in muscular strength and stamina. Not weight.

Popeye, they are called "munches" because people get together and eat.
Like a lot of the social events in our culture, it revolves around food.
If you want to have the coffee-and-nicotine set over to your place for a little kink talk, nobody is stopping you.

I'd like to go to a get together that doesn't revolve around food.
Like just have dinner before you go or something then drinks only or something like that.
Hey, how about Munches for non-obese people only?
We're in the minority these days anyway.
Walking and bicycling is great excercise!
Nothing like a 5 mile walk along the beach!
Staying in shape makes everything better!

I lift weights, work out. have an active physical job and am committed to staying in shape and eating healthy.  I'd enjoy a Munch that involved a fitness activity, because my other choice tends to be to sit around and drink coffee while everyone else is eating junk food.  Sometimes if I'm lucky a restaurant will have a healthy choice on the menu that fits in with my regimen, but not always.

However if there was ever such a thing as a Munch like you are proposing, I would not come anywhere near it, except maybe once to find out who the assholes were so I could avoid them in the future.

I don't go to Munches solely so I can troll for sex partners and act like a total jerk to anyone who doesn't happen to fit my personal parameters for a sex partner.  There's a lot more to the BDSM community than that, and I'm sorry that's something you will never be able to understand or respect.

I have always been the kind of person that looked at the asthetics of everyone, until I met a man who showed me that the real part of a person is who they are inside.

Whoever said lets just make a munch specific to the assholes has my vote.

The person that wants to judge people for what is on the outside I really don't want to be at a Munch with anyway.
