Some people believe that the Bill of Rights only covers citizens.. that is not true... that is why they needed Gitmo, because to do that crap on our soil is against the constitution.

It never ceases to amaze me that people love the constitution until it interferes with their opinions.. then they have no use whatsoever for it.. and that is exactly why we need it so very desperately

Actually they do... if they are held here to face trial they have rights... sorry to break it to you, but they do. Now we could always send them back to wherever they came from, but if we keep them they have every protection of a citizen

Maybe the US cannot guarantee them a social security with all the rights that would entail or free medical care, but it should (and does) treat illegals as human beings....if they were completely not covered by the constitution, this country could torture them, kill them at will....then the US would not be a civil nation anymore. This has not happened and cannot happen.

So by your standard anybody who is opposed to tougher laws on any particular illegal activity is automatically in favour of that activety.
Here's one, how about we make a law that gives you 1 chance for a DUI...on the first offence we remove the offender's driving priveledges for life, and if caught behind the wheel we give them a life sentence with no chance of parole for 50 years.
Would you support this law...I hope so, otherwise you are OK with drunk driving, and support it......

Article IV Section 4 US CONSTITUTION, "The United States shall guarantee to every state in the Union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion."

14th Amendment: US CONSTITUTION,"all persons born.. in the United States are citizens".


NOT ILLEGALS


WHERE does it say they have constitutional rights?

Of course they do.  Anyone on American soil has constitutional rights.

It's odd that someone so knowledgeable about the constitution in some matters can be so ignorant about it in others.

Nope....I SAID..I am AGAINST what they are PROTESTING.

IN MY EYES......supporting illegal immigration is harboring criminal activity.

But that's just me.

I couldn't agree more.  Also, the government should order that any american workers replaced with H1B visa immigrants be given their jobs back with a substantial raise and compensation. If the immigrant has done a good job, the company should be forced to keep and continue paying them until their visa expires. Thus, the company has to pay both and make room for both. I'll bet the companies would change their attitudes real quick and wouldn't likely repeat the mistake.

I may be wrong, but this thread is about LEGAL immigrants. I will not debate that illegal immigrants have broken the law and that they should be liable for whatever penalties the law provides.

And I may be misinformed on this one, but I believe that the US Constitution applies to anybody in the US, regarless of origin or legal status. I do not recall a section in the constitution where the rights are limited to citizens, if there is such a clause then please tell me where, I would be interested to know.
Remember, Social Security, welfare, and Medicare, free education, etc. are not Constitutional rights.

No one said they had the SAME rights.  You said they had NO rights, and that's incorrect.  They have rights.  The entire blessed Bill of Rights applies to them.  Are you really not understanding this?

First off, a person is not an "illegal" immigrant until they are proven to be such in a court of law in the United States and until such time as that happens they are protected by Due Process and Habeas Corpus laws as apply to American citizens.

Secondly, a person who is tried and found to be an illegal immigrant is promptly deported.

However, a bunch of people protesting immigration laws and ranting about Aztlan and Hispanic Supremacy is a GUARANTEED RIGHT under the US Constitution.

They can rant all day long, but until you try them in a court of law, there is no way to determine if they are illegal or legal immigrants.  How you feel about them is not actually a crime under US or state penal codes.

While you personally might think that they are supporting illegal immigrants, the fact of the matter is that they have not been accused, tried, and convicted of committing an illegal act.  Until that happens, everything they are saying are just words which are protected under our constitution.

If you want to be so up in arms about illegal acts in the United States, why dont you start protesting George W. Bush and his administrations flagrant violation of both US law and laws like the Geneva Convention.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Considering that you live in Massachusetts...why exactly is this such a hot-button issue for you?  You really seem to have some irrational ideas about illegal immigration and the threat that it poses to life as we know it.

Depends on how you define the word "invasion"

I believe the general concept involves armed forces under the flag of a foreign nation attacking and holding territory.

But I could be wrong.
