I'm gonna puke.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/5/2006 5:15:56 PM)

I can't breathe.  SIX TURNOVERS.  We have to be the best at giving it away thus far this season.  Someone please link me to the turnover stats for the season.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/5/2006 5:23:26 PM)

Steelers are near the bottom, here's the rankings (not sure if they include today though)

Whew, you had it rough too, katy. That last fumble by Ward was hard to watch.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/5/2006 5:31:52 PM)

Try listening to the final 3 quarters of the game on a long car drive.  sigh.  It wasn't much fun.  Nor was the post-game interview (also in the car).  "We have turnover problems, we know that, we address it all week at practice, we talk about it, I have no answers." (paraphrased but close to what both Cowher and Whisenhunt said)

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/5/2006 5:39:07 PM)

Well, keep your head up. Ben is throwing strong again, the running game looks solid, and the D is still tough. A lot of your turnovers are due to bad luck, and that doesn't last.

Big upset of the day? I'm looking at Miami slapping the Bears around a bit..... Dolphins DE Jason Taylor had a sack, and interception, a TD, and forced a fumble.

And for those of you following at home: Indy 0     Pats 0        6 minutes left in the 1st quarter.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/5/2006 6:07:15 PM)

I think the Bears are what Denny Green thought they were.

I love it!    [;)]
Confession:  I still waunder over the youtube and listen to that rant.  It makes me smile.

edit for spelling

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/5/2006 8:04:03 PM)

24-17 now, after back-to-back interceptions.  However this game ends, these are the two best teams in the NFL.  Sorry, Bears fans.

Where's mbmbn?  It's way too soon for her to partake of the kool-aide.  But I am almost ready for a sip.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 1:10:58 PM)

Hiya Katy !!
I'm here to check in.. Sorry for my tardiness, but I had to eat a little crow on a Football MB. I sure prefer the Kool aid. [8D]

Hmm.. where to start. The Colts were impressive last night. That completed pass to Harrison when Pats D had PM out of the pocket and ready to go down, was unfreaking believable. Probably the best poass I have ever seen.
As for my own team... well 5 turnovers, poor play calling, IMO and no run game in the second half  ? You just can't win a game playing like that. Our defense was pretty good, they got to PM and hurried him and got him out of the pocket, but he knew exactly where his recievers were and went for it. Impressive.

Colts/Pats is always an emotional game for both sides, fans and players.... I cannot tell you how much pleasure I got out of watching Vinitraitor missing not one... but TWO.. count em TWO field goals. It took a little of the sting out of the loss. So sis Troy Brown breaking Stanley Morgans reciption record. That was great to see. A player who just does not get the credit he deserves.
Again... horrible officiating.. atrocious. We discussed that earlier and I agree with LAM and Mercnbeth about full time, professional refs. I'm not just talking about last nights game... since the play offs last year.. there has been some very poor reffing throughout the league.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 1:23:23 PM)

Vinitraitor - hehe  Brady said "he looks funny in that uniform"  It's hard to believe he missed the field goals, too nervous, or what?  And Peyton, well, he looked great, no soul, whatever.   [8D]

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 1:56:50 PM)

Well, yeah, but he's nowhere near the player Stanley Morgan was.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 2:08:43 PM)

I have no idea why he missed those two chip shots, believe me no one was more surprised than me. My sister was screaming explitives and hexing him to miss, and in my defeated tone, I told her.... He's the same guy, just a diff uniform, he doesn't miss. Some are saying he wasn't expecting the hostile fan reception he got. They were pretty loud and vocal with their boos and some pretty taunting signs. Believe me when I tell you, he is definately not loved currently by his old fanbase.  I'm not so sure that really had anything to do with it tho.

You know how I feel about PM, Katy.. so for me to throw him those accolades eats at my core, but I can't wish it away. lol..

I saw the Steelers game.[:(] I know the play off run is almost def. out of reach, so now you guys are playing for pride and that can be a dangerous thing. Look at Miami's ass whooping on the Bears yesterday.

I see Level got a little tummy ache yesterday. I saw that one too. I can't believe Parcells sat there and took TO's crap on the sidelines. I am no fan of Parcells but I hope he had a
" private chat" with him in the locker room with a baseball bat. As for the frosting on Dallas's cupcakes... I know Vandy has the best kicking record, but he choked in Indy at crunch time, and I don't think that has changed. It really didn't surprise me.

I'm not so sure on that LAM. Taking nothing away from Morgan, Brown is a different kind of player  but equally as good, IMO. Brown has played so many positions with us he doesn't stand out at any one position, but if you pick it apart.. the guy is as impressive as Morgan.

Morgan was a great WR, graceful, pure, head up player.  My sister used to work for the law firm that represents the Pats.. Back in the day she got me a real jersey from Morgan and Hannah, ones they had worn. I thought I was the cat's ass having them.  Back then I was about 95 lbs and I would wear those to the games. Over sized wasn't popular back then, but I didn't care.

Brown may not have his finesse or style, but as a player, you couldn't ask for a better and he gives 110% at what ever is asked of him.

We be the spoiler.....bring it on.  Or something.  lol

You know, he's always missed a kick here and there, and has never had the highest success rate in history (I think that's Vanderjagt, right?).  It's when the game is on the line, or in the postseason, that he seems to be automatic.

The idiot kicker was perfect in the 2003 season.   I will forever love him for missing in the clutch against the Steelers in the 2005 playoffs.

Yup.. that's right LAM, Vandy has the best record. They are like mirror images in a way. Vintieri does miss a few, but at crunch time, he never misses. While Vandy always makes his kicks, his misses are at crucial times.

I think that miss Katy referred to in the AFC game last year was Vandy's ticket out of Indy... one too many for Dungy and Polian. Smart move, IMO he was alot of trouble for them in many ways. Attitude and mouth. At the AFC championship game in Foxboro, I watched him walk on the field for what would have been a crusial FG and walk by the Pats bench and make a "money gesture" with his fingers at the team.... as he proceeded to miss a chip shot. He did alot of that kind of thing and as much as I dislike the Colts they are a pretty classy humble team. He just didn't fit.
No offense Level.. but he and TO are a nice little tandem in Dallas. I almost spit my diet coke when I heard both of them would be playing in Dallas this year.
