Hiya Katy !!
I'm here to check in.. Sorry for my tardiness, but I had to eat a little crow on a Football MB. I sure prefer the Kool aid. [8D]

Hmm.. where to start. The Colts were impressive last night. That completed pass to Harrison when Pats D had PM out of the pocket and ready to go down, was unfreaking believable. Probably the best poass I have ever seen.
As for my own team... well 5 turnovers, poor play calling, IMO and no run game in the second half  ? You just can't win a game playing like that. Our defense was pretty good, they got to PM and hurried him and got him out of the pocket, but he knew exactly where his recievers were and went for it. Impressive.

Colts/Pats is always an emotional game for both sides, fans and players.... I cannot tell you how much pleasure I got out of watching Vinitraitor missing not one... but TWO.. count em TWO field goals. It took a little of the sting out of the loss. So sis Troy Brown breaking Stanley Morgans reciption record. That was great to see. A player who just does not get the credit he deserves.
Again... horrible officiating.. atrocious. We discussed that earlier and I agree with LAM and Mercnbeth about full time, professional refs. I'm not just talking about last nights game... since the play offs last year.. there has been some very poor reffing throughout the league.

John Madden speaks wisdom. To paraphrase: "I don't understand why the Patriots are using these trick plays; they should just run and run at Indy."

Truer words have seldom been spoken.

Still, it was a good game [8|].

Well, yeah, but he's nowhere near the player Stanley Morgan was.

Brown's a fine player, but I agree with Lam, Morgan was dangerous and productive for a long time. Irving Fryar wasn't too shabby, either.

No doubt.  If nothing else, we knew it would be good for some dramaand that Parcells would have his hands full with those two egos.

I see Level got a little tummy ache yesterday. I saw that one too. I can't believe Parcells sat there and took TO's crap on the sidelines.

I can't believe he dropped the ball! [>:]

My sister used to work for the law firm that represents the Pats.. Back in the day she got me a real jersey from Morgan and Hannah, ones they had worn.

John Hannah was a monster. He might be the only guard to ever totally dominate Randy White.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 3:45:20 PM)

I still think TO's gonna have a grand meltdown.  He can't be controlled.

Oy..... like having Hitler and Mussolini on your team.......TO has poisoned the atmosphere allready, I'm afraid, and Gunga Dim doesn't seem much better, personality wise. Jerry Jones gives 100% in trying to make Dallas as good as possible, but sometimes he overeaches....

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 3:52:30 PM)

They looked like a bunch of klutzes yesterday, but the Cowboys might very well make the playoffs.  On the other hand, I just don't see a team with T.O. ever winning anything.  At this point he's become a clown, and he's no longer the best receiver in the NFL--not by a long shot, unfortunately.

Oh, I'm starting to think the best team in the NFC is the Saints.  Who'da picked THAT?

Sadly, I think you're right. He's a spaz lol.

We have 'em next week.  And we are favored - wtf?

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 3:56:54 PM)

What's the line?

Don't forget, the AFC is still a lot stronger than the NFC--but I can't see the Steelers being favored over the Saints.

Yup, I think they'll get into the postseason, despite TO.

The Saints..... someone has a bad ass voodoo doll somewhere lol. I thought the offense would be fine, but the defense is doing their share too, which blows my mind. I think/thought they had some of the absolute worst D personal in the league, but it's looking like this is one of those rare, magical seasons for them. Yeah, who'da thunk it??

Good analogy ! I think it was during a e mail conversation with Katy, I referred to TO as locker room cyanide.
I think Jones went to the stat book last year and bought himself the kicker and  WR with the best numbers. He forgot to factor in the poisen denominator. I'm sure he thought things would be different, what with Parcells being as * tough* a coach as he is suppose to be. Unfortunately Jones underestimated, God himself couldn't handle TO. Vandy might be salvagable with regular attendance at AA meetings. Unfortunately Jones is a hands on owner and should leave the personel/drafting etc decisions to his coaching staff.
TO is on a one year contract no? Option to drop his azz after this season?

Side note on Morgan/Brown- Morgan was in NE 13 years and with Indy < I believe > his last year for a total of 14 years. Same amount of time as Brown has been currently. He has been pretty consistant every year, that I re call. I will agree with you and LAM in that Morgan was more fun to watch and more finesse, but the offense was vastly different under Grogan.

Ditto to both.

Didn't you and I predict this earlier in the season? But I am now wondering if Parcells will have one first. I think he is very very unhappy in Dallas these days.

I don't know the line, I heard it on the radio this afternoon and found it hard to believe.  And insulting to the Saints.  The Steelers can't touch the ball without turning it over (it sure feels that way)

Yes, we did.  And you also did use the words "locker room cyanide."  I remember McNabb saying, this season, in a not so veiled comment, "one guy can't make a team, but one guy can definitely break a team."

I thought that od thing was TO's meltdown.  All that did was prove that he's crazier than we thought and he can do it bigger than that.

No, it's a 3 year, $25 million dollar deal. I firmly believe he'll go before Parcells, though.

Okay, how badly is Seattle going to beat Oakland tonight? I say they win by 17.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 4:35:55 PM)

I'm taking Oakland with those 7 points.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/6/2006 4:37:10 PM)

It's 3.  Tough call, because I don't think the Steelers are as bad as they've looked, but I'd have to take the Saints and the points.

Edited to add: Shit, it's up to 4.  People are actually betting on the Steelers???
