In 2005 the Colts allowed 15.4 points per game and this year they have allowed 22.5 points per game.

BAL, NE, and CHI have the top defenses of all the playoff teams. Of those teams BAL has a +17 turnover ratio while CHI and NE are at +8.

Of the top teams in the playoffs, BAL leads all teams in TOP coming in at 32.49 or a + 4.98 minute per game advantage over its opponents.

SD is the top rushing team avg. 161 yards per game, but teams in the playoffs can typically stuff the run, so I think SD's fate rests on the shoulders of Philip Rivers, and I would not be suprised to see NE upset SD.

IND has the the second best passing attack behind NO, which is somewhat suprising. Neither team, though, has a very good defense.

Its quite possible that KC with LJ could upset the Colts by running the ball down IND's throat. This game should be a pure, unadulterated shootout, but because IND is at home, I give them the edge.

The Colts matchup well against the Ravens, and this contest will depend on who wins the turnover battle. If BAL is able to sack Peyton Manning (BAL leads the league in sacks and almost had four players with 10 sacks a piece) and force him to turn the ball over, the BAL will take the air out of the IND offense by winning the TOP battle. In my mind this game pits the best NFL offense against the best NFL defense and the outcome will be very interesting to see.

If KC advances, I don't think it can beat BAL at home, period.

In the NFC, which I do not follow as closely, I see PHI as having the hot hand and CHI as having the best defense and home field advantage. NO passing attack will be neutralized on Soldier Field, and CHI will advance to the SB.

In the AFC, I see BAL defeating NE narrowly at home to advance to the SB. SD, I predict, will lay an egg.

BAL will then defeat CHI in the end.

At long last, a fellow Pats fan  ! I no longer feel soooo alone.

Very sad about Williams. Another reminder to hug the ones you love.

Should be a good game on Sunday. Here's hoping it's injury free for both our teams. Are either of you coming up for the game ? Our tailgating section always welcomes other teams fans, so take this as an open invite.

It should be a great game.
But the one I'm looking forward to is Chiefs vs Colts, I think Peyton's gonna choke....again.

Are you just going by yardage?  Indianapolis was much more efficient than New Orleans in the passing game.  Fewer sacks, fewer interceptions, higher completion percentage...it's really not even that close.  In fact, New Orleans wasn't even second.  Philadelphia was second.  (Now THERE'S a surprise.)

I guess you just go by yards gained and points allowed.

Yes, I was just going by a cursory glance of the NFL standings where the passing #s were concerned. BAL pretty much manhandled NO in NO, and I don't think the BAL defense can do the same against IND in BAL. So, I would readily agree with your conclusion here. I think NO is overated and that it might actually be a bubble team here in the AFC.

NO does run a good scheme, though, and it has an excellent vertical passing game with impressive quick strike capabilities.

PHI has great passing numbers b/c Andy Reid is way too pass happy and his team has played from behind often this season.

There's more to it than that.  If that were the whole explanation, you'd see a ton of interceptions--and you don't.  That's because Jeff Garcia, as surprising as this sounds, was the best QB in the NFC down the stretch.  Overall, of course, I'd still take Drew Brees.

mbmbn,
No - The body is fully acclimated to the warmth of SoCal. Just the thought of freezing in the stands, or the parking lot of New England in January gives me the chills.

I became a Jet fan during the Joe Namath era. I've survived Richard Todd. Took hope with Gastineau and Klecko's "Sack Exchange". Contemplated 'Football Suicide' when Richy Kotite was hired after Pete Carroll's team fell for a Dan Marino "false spike". Hoped 'Vinny' and that mercenary Parcels would take us to the promised land. I have a 'blood oath' to attend any Superbowl that the jets appear. Short of that, I'll be happy watching from the comfort of my living room.

THANKS for the invite though. I bet I'd get the same warm, friendly, welcoming greeting and hospitality as when I attended Red Sox games in a Yankee jacket.

He wasn't that bad.  He was a whole lot better than Browning Nagle.

And mbmbn, thanks for the invite, but I won't be able to go to the game.  I'll be watching though.

I don't know about the Red Sox games, not a Baseball fan. I've had Colts friends in from Indy and Dolphin fans in from Miami and short of a little good natured ribbing back and forth, all was good.

I had a huge crush on Gastineau.
My very first Patriots game was a Jets/Pats game at the old Sullivan Stadium. I think it was 79 or 80. NY Sack exchange was in there inception.
Enjoy the game Sunday, I will be nice and toasty warm in my Michelin Man gear in the stadium.Altho I was raised in Philly, I am a true New England girl. I love the cold, the snow and the elements. And if lucky enough to have a football game in those conditions, it's frosting on the cake. There is just something magical about being in the stands with all the energy and looking up and having snowflakes land on your eyelashes. LOL, I am sure the players don';t see it that way tho.

indeed!  He was a phenonemal pass rusher, but he had too much hair, and he wasn't a man's man, like Joe Klecko.

It's how football was meant to be played.  In the elements.  Not in a weather-controlled dome.  What jersey are you wearing?

Yeah.....and there's never been another player in the game that had a better ''straightarm'' - That includes Eric Dickerson.

I will be wearing my John " Hog"  Hannah Jersey this weekend.  It's an old one, but it was my first, and you know we never forget our first.
