These are mutually exclusive? You can't get paid for doing what you love?

Listen to any good player or ex-player talk. You can't get paid the money if you're not emotionally invested. You simply will be unable to play with the intensity and focus needed if you only want to get paid.

As far as the Super Bowl goes...I'm not a fan of either team, but I'll take the 49ers in this one. I love what Jim Harbaugh's done for SF, and I loved Kaepernick coming out of college (and I'm not a Nevada fan either).

I am not saying you cant, but the pay scheme is really more at the front of the careers not at after they cant play anymore.

As far as the super bowl, yeah I like the 49's enough to put a hundred on them.

You might make some dough there.

Say what you want about the Ravens, but they went to "work" on New England tonight.

I am totally an old school sort of person.

Considering I am an old school hard hitting football type, I have to agree, the Ravens play hard. But I think SF is real hungry this year, could be wrong we will see.

Now I would have preferred the Packers got in, I mean they need some reward for playing in an open stadium in one of the coldest states in the lower 48.

As Walter said about Lambo field, "Put a roof on it, we have the technology"

I mean playing all those home games in freezing weather, based on three visits up there in the dead of winter, those guys organs must be so frozen it is going to take wives and girlfriends months to get the blood flowing again.

Wow.

I was surprised and disgusted when the Ravens beat the Broncos. I felt like the Broncos were the better team but just didn't show up for the game. I also thought that the Broncos' defense was the only one capable of stopping Brady.

Well, after today's game, I have to admit that the Ravens are for real.

Oddly enough, both winning teams trailed and had to come back, and both won with 28 points.

I can't predict what will happen in New Orleans.

The Ravens should check out the film and figure how the Rams stopped SF twice. It had to be the game plan not the players that did it.

As you mentioned earlier, they get a "reward", it's called a paycheck.

Is anyone else getting tired of the Super Bowls being played in the same places year after year? I am... I don't care if the weather is warm...or how big a stadium is... I think the Super Bowl should rotate through each and every venue in the league.

I agree the venue should be changed more often, I figure one of the reasons they keep playing in Florida is because they don't have to worry about the weather.

It does seem odd that a playoff game might be played outdoors in sub-freezing weather and two weeks later the SB is played in some dome or in Miami. I think it should be done like baseball. Whatever conference wins the Pro Bowl then next year the Super Bowl will be played in the city of that conference. Make the game matter. What I really don't understand is how Goodell is telling Atlanta that they need a new domed stadium (the Georgia Dome isn't all that old) to be able to compete for further Super Bowls while that decrepit Super Dome keeps getting the nod.

A paycheck does not defrost extremities.

And I am talking they should get a reward for freezing their balls off by going to a warm climate to play the super bowl.

Of course the ones we really need to feel sorry for are cheerleaders from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Norbert College appear at home games throughout the season.

Skimpy costumes, sub zero temps... And being college cheerleaders, they DONT get paid to freeze asses off.

I remember the snow bowl...and many many games played in all kinds of weather... it just adds to the game. Cold weather venues manage to fill their seats no problem.

Like Liz says have the Pro Bowl decide the location for the next year...It works just fine in Baseball....and it would make for a good Pro Bowl too.

The Georgia dome is 20 years old.

The super dome is 38 years old this year.

If the Georgia Dome is too old for the super bowl, then wtf is the deal with New Orleans?
