Well, since my picks at the beginning of the playoffs were Baltimore and Philadelphia (Baltimore winning it all), I'm going to have to pick the Ravens over the Colts.

Kinda cute, since Peach is in Baltimore and I'm in Philadelphia.

http://www.boston.com/business/globe/articles/2007/01/10/chargers_shut_out_pats_fans/

SD Chargers. What a bunch of shitheads ! What are they afraid of ?
Pats fans are travelers and not  unruly visiting fans, yet the Chargers are trying to shut out sales of tickets to Pats fan who want to make the trip. I know quite a few season's ticket holders who booked there flights and hotels after the win, they had planned on a certain amount of cash for tickets. Ohh they will still go, but I would be very, very ticked off if I were in a position to make this game. I have traveled for many games  and  I have hosted visiting fans from other teams at my home and at tailgates and never heard of anything like this.  Completely legal, but pretty shitty of the organization.

I heard on PTI tonight, that the Bears are doing or going to do the same thing.

While it pisses me off, I get a chuckle out of an organization that is so nervous that they want to make sure there are as few visiting fans as possible, for noise control? It's laughable. But then if I knew my team was in Marty's hands, I guess I would do anything it took to up the odds.

There's my rant for the night.[:@]

mb, thanks for the Parcells' link. If he does go, the one thing I can take solace with is that Jerry Jones, for all his faults, will bend over backwards to get the best replacement he can. Make fun of his botox all you want, don't think the man is cheap or uncaring about winning, though. [X(]

Coughlin back next year as Giants coach

By TOM CANAVAN, AP Sports WriterWed Jan 10, 2:24 PM ET

An embattled Tom Coughlin was given another year to coach the New York Giants on Wednesday after he convinced owners he can make Eli Manning a better quarterback and the team a winner.

"He has a vision and he understands how that vision can now move forward," co-owner Jonathan Tisch said during a conference call to announce Coughlin's one-year contract extension. "He did not have to save his job. He did not have to talk us into anything."

The Chargers are afraid.  haha!  I know it's rude and pathetic, but it's also ridiculous that they would do that to fans.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/10/2007 5:50:04 PM)

Ahh, but the ones that count, the players, aren't afraid [;)].

Level:
I heard today that both Parcells and the NY Giants are denying that article I linked you to. Parcells said that is is a " lie" that neither himself nor anyone representing him has had any contact with the Giants. He isn't saying if he is staying in Dallas, but he is firmly denying any " hunting around".

Coughlin ! lol.. I think the guy is a Dominant in coaches clothing. I never knew this until I visited one of the Giants MB this past weekend: He is a wack chop control freak and has a litany of " rules" that players must adhere to. One of them is " no knees showing" in practice, according to posters on the MB. It said that if a player shows up and his pants aren't covering his knees and he doesn't have high socks on, he gets an assistant coach to take them back and get the " proper outfit". Sounded kind of weird to me, so I Googled it, and sure enough.. the man is a control freak. The following is from a 2005 article but gives you a little glimpse, in that article it says the players don't mind it, but the inference on the MB was that this group of players is not at all happy with his  controling behavior.

"His dress code is strictly coat and tie, proper attire required even in the hotel lobby, and absolutely no white socks. No TVs in the trainer's room, weight room or equipment room. Team-issued workout gear only in the locker room and at every practice. No towels hanging from the waist. Socks must be mid-calf. No hats or sunglasses in meetings, and no slouching. Players must sit straight up in meetings, feet on the floor, no folded arms or crossed legs."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/21/AR2005122102150.html?nav=rss_opinion/columns

AND... he fines players for being 5 minutes early to meetings.. he consders that late.[&:]

How about not control freak, just a freak!
I do like dress codes when traveling though.  These are highly paid professionals.  Be proud and look nice, look professional, act professional.  He has a bigger problem in the locker room than dress code adherence.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/10/2007 6:09:00 PM)

Ohh, I agree Katy. I love to see men in a suits and ties. And I think they should present themselves in a professional manor when traveling. It's the locker room, practice field and meeting rules that I think are just crazy. I know I can't sit for long periods with my feet on the floor, but hell, my feet barely reach the floor when I am sitting on a regular chair. LOL.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/10/2007 6:13:23 PM)

I'm a huge sloucher.  When I catch myself and sit up straight it feels weird.  So I would not do well under his demands.  I don't get the deal with no knees showing though.  He may be sort of ocdish (not that there's anything wrong with that, hehe).

Coughlin is a good coach, but his iron grip cost him support in Jacksonville, as it may now do in New York; it worked well in college, but once you get on a team with vets, they don't want to hear all that shit lol.

Yep, especially Jeremy "we were out coached" Shockey.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/10/2007 10:50:07 PM)

Yeah, it's NEVER Shockey's fault.

That guy is an overrated piece of crap, and I'd cut his ass on my first day of camp.  Hell, I'd cut him by e-mail before I even got to camp.  I might even forgive his lowbrow attitude if he made a tough catch now and then.  Where's Mark Bavaro when you need him?  THAT guy was a monster.  Nobody ever wanted to try to tackle him one-on-one.  He was like: "OK, I'm going to cut across the middle, I'm going to make the catch, and I'm going to run eight yards after the catch before you finally drag me down.  Go ahead, try to stop me."  But he never said a word.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/11/2007 2:48:40 AM)

Good comment about Bavaro, Lam. He was one tough SOB, a "throwback" type of guy that reminded folks of Ditka.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/11/2007 7:43:27 AM)

The Cardinals are doing second interviews for some of their coaching candidates.  It seems they are waiting for Pittsburgh to make a decision before they decide what to do.

Baltimore, silly.
Colts vs Ravens is tough for me because I dislike both teams.  I would like to see the Ravens give Peyton a rough time.
I am rooting for the Saints.

I'm picking the Ravens and Eagles to win today, but I very much am rooting for the Saints.

Well, we all know I am for the Colts today...other than that, it would be the Saints.
