It might be interresting to discuss who is today's draft busts, and sleepers.

Busts

Calvin Johnson (WR, Georgia Tech) - In my view, he is very fast for his size and has good hands. What bothers me about him is that he pushes off down field far too often. The NFL is really starting to tighten up on this. I think he is going to end up being a pretty good receiver that will be paid like a superstar.

Disagree on this one, caitlyn. I think Johnson will develop into an upper-echelon WR.

Joe Thomas (T, Wisconsin) - Simply put, he has maxed out his body and won't get much better. He will be very much like Leonard Davis, a guy earning left tackle money, for playing right tackle or guard.

I disagree again . He is big, nasty, agile, and smart, and a future Pro Bowler.

Adrain Peterson (RB, Oklahoma) - They should have taught him in college, not to run over people. He will be the most talented player on injured reserve, in the entire league.

Agreed. Peterson is a super-talent, but how long can his already banged-up body withstand the NFL?


Sleepers

Adam Carriker (DE, Nebraska) - This guy is unusually strong for a guy with his size and speed. I like him better than several players that will be taken before him. He is a monster against the run, and has good pass rushing skills.

Agreed. I watched him play a couple of times, and he was dominating at times. Nebraska has a history of sending All-Americans to the NFL, only to see them warm the bench; I think Carriker will buck that trend.

Dwayne Jarrett (WR, USC) - Not overly fast, but gets open without pushing off. This is the best players in this draft, bar none.

Agreed. As we talked about previously, I think Dallas would love to get to pick this guy.

Eric Weddle (S, Utah) - The way the league is structured now, guys that tackle well enough to play safety, that can also cover (speed and skill), are at a premium.

I'm not familiar with Weddle.

Kenny Irons (RB, Auburn) - This is the back that will end up with solid NFL game, because he is not only just a skilled runner, but a very good receiver and willing blocker.

I know of Irons, but I don't have an opinon on him.
 
My busts: Alan Branch - DT - University of Michigan
 
This guy is an overweight, underachiever that gets far, far more press than he deserves.  Some are talking him up to be a top notch run-stuffer in the NFL, but he can't carry Ted Washington's jock, IMO.
 
My sleeper:
 
John Abbate - LB - Wake Forest
 
Abbate is too small and slow. Like Zach Thomas, and Dat Nguyen. I don't see him approaching Thomas' level, but Abbate will make a very good value pick late in the draft.
 
LaMarr Woodley - DE - Michigan
 
This is the guy that made Branch look good. Smallish, but explosive and tenacious. Could excel as a pass-rushing OLB, ala Shawn Phillips with the Chargers.
 
Eric Wright - CB - UNLV
 
Has every physical gift you want in a cover corner, but also had some character issues. He's taken it upon himself to try to relieve NFL brass on those issues; if he really has grown up some, he could be a special player.

Steelers have a new mascot to celebrate their 75th season.  All you Steeler fans: there is a contest to name your new mascot, much like Indy had last year. C'mon Katy: tell us what you think his new name should be.
Please don't hate me Katy, but the new mascot looks more like a lumberjack to me, than a steel worker.  

They're also going to have celebrations throughout the season. And wear throwback jerseys and throw back helmets at a few games. I love the throwbacks !
