Katy's Steelers get Timmons, LB from Florida St -- he should be a fine fit in either the 3-4 or 4-3.

Looks like Mangini is going to get himself a premiere CB.  Dammit !!!

From Yahoo Sports:

John Murphy's analysis
- Round 1 -
Read All Analysis

14 (14)
NY Jets - Darrelle Revis, CB: By trading above the competition for a guy like that -- potentially division rival New England -- you can't overvalue this move. In the AFC East, where teams have improved their passing game, the Jets wanted to improve their cornerback spot, which was an issue last season. Revis is also considered one of the better return specialists in the draft.

Good replacement for Porter. I watched him play a bit this year, he looks like a solid LB. Agreed Level, he will fit either defensive scheme.

Yeah, I know Level, I have the draft on TV, but the sound is off and I am listening to a local radio stations coverage. That just makes them all the more dangerous. Mangini's no fool. They were saying Jets and NE were trying to get a trade for the 14th pick. We are in need of a good CB too and there aren't a whole lot of themout there right now.

LAM must be happy about that one. Our resident Jets fan.

The Titans get a terrific safety in Mike Griffin, but I can't believe they passed up home state hero Meachum; they really need wideout help.

Giants take Aaron Ross CB from Texas; this ensures one of the better WR will be availible to Dallas

Level , you are cracking me up.
Cleveland gets their guy, after all, and makes Dallas happy in the 2008 draft.

He's a good, solid QB, minnetar, so I'm happy with him . And if we play the extra picks smartly, this might push Dallas over the top.

Hey, we still should be able to land a good WR with the 36th pick.

i think Jones got the better end of this deal.  At least Quinn gets to play near his home since he is from Ohio.

Pats use the first of two 1st round picks on Miami S Brandon Meriweather. I would have went with the DE/LB hybrid Spencer from Purdue, but Belichik is hard to second guess with his track record.

John Murphy's take: His image was tainted as a result of his involvement in the brawl against Florida International, but he has convinced teams that he's closer to being a top-rated safety than over-hyped troublemaker. Thanks to his all-around skill level, he has the ability to be evaluated outside at cornerback, but most scouts see him as an over-the-top safety who can also come up to cover the slot receiver one-on-one. He plays with the same flair as several former top-rated Hurricanes' defenders, showing both the ability to attack the ball carrier and being in proper position in pass coverage.

Meriweather hits with good authority, but can get caught flat-footed at times against the run. However, he rarely takes false steps against misdirection or play-action plays. He has a great natural feel for the game, gets to proper depth when asked to play deep coverage and also has the savvy feel to his game that lets him break up passes at the last moment.

He is not a workout warrior like Landry or Nelson, but running in the 4.5 range with a 35.5-inch vertical made enough of a statement when combined with his impressive game films. Has the chance to be taken in the mid-to-late portions of the first round.

He also was involved in an incident with a gun; it was his, bought and paid for, but it makes you scratch your head....
