Dallas gets Purdue DE/LB Anthony Spencer:

John Murphy's take: Hybrid pass rusher that can play left defensive end in a 4-3 or outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. He showed his athleticism at the combine by running in the 4.6 range. Spencer came on strong his senior campaign and played especially well against the top linemen he faced. He is an up-the-field pass rusher who should follow in the footsteps of former Boilermakers standout Shaun Phillips.

---------

"Listening to Sports Radio and Mel Kiper was on saying that he thinks that if DE Anthony Spencer is there at 22nd Dallas will draft him.  His thinking was that even though it makes more sense to draft a WR like Jarrett or Meachem, that Spencer is the perfect DE/LB to play opposite of Demarcus Ware.  Spencer had a super productive college career.  Top 5 pick offensive tackle Joe Thomas said Spencer was the one guy in college that always gave him trouble."

Could it be to announce he's repenting his evilness and is going to relinquish ownership to someone else?!?!?!

Yeah...I thought not.

This is a very good pick, minnetar. Gonzalez will fit in perfectly with the Colts' system, and he will develop into an excellent pro, IMO.

Hey now, plastic surgery options aside, Jones does a pretty good job .

Har har .

Jerry would love to coach, but even his ego knows some limits.

Teams that have done well so far:

The Browns, Bills, Panthers, and Jets.

Gonzalez is good, Ugoh (what a name) was an All American at Arkansas, but he's a "wait and see"....

The Steelers have done well too. I like both Timmons and Woodley's chances, but I'm curious as to how the new regime will use them.

Perhaps.  Having met and worked for the man, the legends of his ego are not exaggerated!

I am hoping against hope this year will be a better year and he can keep it in check long enough to allow the coach to do his job.

im just stunned by how terribly brett frave has been treated the last 2 drafts by ted thompson, so i cant even concentrate on the rest of the leagues picks. Ahman Green leaves for the Texans, ya, ok..they overpaid him, but , jeez! RB, WR, SS,TE, were ALL areas of much greater need than a DT who didnt PLAY his senior year due to injury! If i were brett? id be sitting on my tractor and wondering, super bowl? sure, if i can hand off or throw it to myself!
packer new D better hold everyone to a field goal all year, or its looking really sad for the end of a hall of fame career

I don't think anyone should get too excited about this draft, because it wasn't a very good pool of players to choose from. These are good players, that will help almost any team, but the guys at the top just payed superstar money for good players.

If you want to look for winners in this year's draft, look at teams that used low firsts, seconds and thirds to pick players that might develop into solid guys and help teams down the road ... teams that traded out to get multiple picks (increasing the chance of getting someone that will develop) ... and look at the Cowboys (like Jerry Joned or not), who seem to be the only team that understood that the best play was to get a pick next season.

If you want to look for big losers, look at anyone close to the top, that paid big money for players that all have major questions marks.

May God love us and save us. What is Belichick and Pioli thinking ?
Looks like Randy Moss, or the tool as he so lovingly was referred to in this thread is gonna be one of mine.

The article says there is going to be some clause about one incident and he is out. Maybe they are doing the same with Merriweather.

I wish he had given blow by blow of the second round. I had to go out and missed the latter part of the first and the second round. It was nice to come here and get a quick synopisis.

Raven : I'm guessing you're not a football fan ? I dunno, just something in the tone of your post makes me think that.
Now, I'm going to give you a little warning, just so you don't get your boxers in a bunch:
This thread is destined to CM greatness. We have vowed to keep it going thru the draft, training camp, pre season..... and yes, the 2007 season. So if our little thread bothers you, close your eyes, cuz it ain't disappearing.

I have to agree with you caitlyn, I think the 3rd and 4th rounders will have more of an impact for their respective teams than the premier guys.

Personally I enjoy coming here and reading this thread, it's a catch up of what I may have missed.
If someone isn't interested in the NFL, there are many other forums and threads that may be to their liking.
