Status: offline 		Yeah other countries do it, I was a child when we lived in Europe, women went topless at the beaches and yanno it was no big deal.

Kids take their social cues from the adults they are around. If the adults act like it's no big thing, the kids will respond that way. It's the same deal as when a kid falls down and smacks their head, you start wigging out - the kid WILL cry. You check the kid while making a light voice and are calm, most of the time you can get them laughing and off on a new tangent in seconds.

I mean it's WHY we *have* the damn things. Making it into some sexualized thing when you are just feeding a child is so ... I dunno ... silly. I mean if you feed them formula, you *still* use a nipple. lol. It's so ironic. No one seems to ccare about seeing a nipple on a bottle in public, why they care more about the real deal than a simulation is just beyond me.

I'd rather have my small children learn why breasts exist long before they realize they also play a sexual role in our society. We send the message from the get go that our bodies are to be hidden - cloaked in secretcy, why?

It's like when women hide the fact that they HAVE menstryal cycles (though these days that is starting to be the truth and I'll bet there's gonna be a REALLY nasty problem with all these women going years without periods in the next 10-20 years, but that's another thread LOL although that bone disintregation dealie isn't sounding lovely at all) from men, which I never got either - they had biology and sex ed, all men KNOW we have periods, so why act like you don't have one?

I dunno, there's a lot I don't get I guess. LOL!


And I am SOOOOOOOOOO freaking jealous when it's 110+ out here and a guy strips off his shirt. ARGH! That will usually send a thousand curses muttering under my breath for not being able to do that without getting in trouble. Though when I was a lot younger - that - ah - didn't always stop me LOL!

I kinda think the guys started taking off their shirts more just to see me get pissy and do it too. LOL.

I'm with proud. A blanket would have been appropriate. I breast fed my babies as well. And while in public used a light blanket. I did it for my own comfort not the comfort of any one else. And would do the same today.

totally agree with You ShadeDiva,

for me as an european and living here, raised up here - even i lived in turkey and africa - its sometimes strange to see that the US express in public freedom of sexuality.
thats what you get here, in looking videos, music... etc

in visiting the US - we get another impression. there is a prudence and a lot of things seems "normal" to us - people being aware of it there and like ooohhhh....

first time i was in US - i didnt expect that - smile -

That's fine when it is for your comfort. I applaud you for doing something that makes you comfortable and telling the rest of the world to take a flying leap through a rolling donut.

But if it is more comfortable for the woman sitting at the table next to you to breastfeed sans a blanket that ball is in her court and no one else's. She's doing things for her comfort and perhaps for her child's comfort. Good for her too.

Everyone should stick with what they feel is best and keep their lips shut when it comes down to someone else doing something natural with their body. (provided they aren't invading your personal space or trying to screw/masturbate on your property)

If she wants to sit in a person's lap and do it... if she wants to stand up, hovering over someone else's table and do it... then she's going out of her way to make someone twitch. But if she's doing it and isn't interfering with someone in a direct manner then why should she stifle what she feels is natural or good just so that she doesn't put a bur up anyone else's ass?

Status: offline 		I've never had one of my own children. If I had. I doubt I would be breastfeeding to begin with. I definately would want to leave my child with a babysitter without having to suction my breasts before hand.
They recently came out with a study about breastfeeding and the bad side affects.
Of course, that is one in hundred's.

Anyway, if I did breastfeed. It would be considered non consentual behavior to do it in front of strangers. I know I would not take a poll of all of them to ask if they felt ok with it or not. So, I'd either cover myself. Or go someplace private.
Why offend other's if we have no need to?

i have to disagree with you here... *everything* offends someone, and IMHO people who are "offended" by breasts have problems. The case that comes to mind is my short hair...i live in the bible belt and there are a number of people around here who, for some reason, do not believe women should be allowed to cut their hair, or wear pants or jewelry. i assume my short hair and covered crotch offend these people, but i don't care.

Status: offline 		Honestly, it's very hard to tell when a baby is nursing and when a baby is just sacked out there in mom's arms. As one poster mentioned, they make clothing specifically for this purpose. And women become adept at managing these maneuvers without 'flashing boobs' and upsetting (or whetting) the apetities of nearby patrons. I have seen several women breast feed their children (with and without said blankets) and I have never seen an errant boob.

I will probably not be able to have children. But I would absolutely breastfeed if I ever do end up with a happy surprise.

You can do that too you just can not have your nipples showing. I could walk outside in broad daylight with just my nipples covered and other than complaints r harrasement I would not be legally indecent.



You guys would prolly be a whole lot less pro active for the matter if someone was say trying to piss in public or something lol. Urination is a very natural function not only a function a need..... LOL yeh I am a smart ass.

Actually it was me that made a comment, and no I do not believe I made it sound like that. But I will beg to differ, as I know many people who feel like they are being smothered when forced to have a blankets covering their face and heads. I can't even handle long sleeves, and only wear a coat if it's below 20 degrees AND I am going to be outside for more than 15 minutes straight (cars do not count).

That depends on where you are. I was once going cross country by grey hound (about 7 years ago). It was summer, and I was wearing shorts, a sports bra and a sleeveless shirt that was open and tied at my midriff. I was a size 8, but had 36F boob, so I had a good amount of cleavage showing, but no nipples and less the 1/2 of my actually boobs since the bottoms and sides were showing.

I was going to go outside of the station to a payphone since I had 25 minutes, and all the phones I saw inside were in use. Just as I reached the door, someone grabbed on to my arm, and said *hold it*. He let go and I saw it was a policeman. He asked me where I was going, and I said outside. He said he didn't think so, so I asked why. he said if I stepped one step out of that door, he would arrest me. I said he had to be kidding. He said no.. that they were a moral people and outfits like mine were not legal. As long as I was getting back on a bus and leaving, they wouldn't do anything, but if I stepped outside, I would be arrested.

As I said, this was less than 7 years ago (1998), and he was very serious.

Something just like this happened to one of my friends in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma. We were driving through and stopped at a gas station to gas up... but were not allowed to go inside the store to pay because my friend was "indecent". Old lady behind the counter threatened to call the police if we entered, who may not have had anything better to go than hassle us. We were on our way back from a medieval fair and my friend *was* wearing a *very* lowcut dress, but, as in your situation, there was no nipple showing. We had to put our money outside the door and the clerk came and got it.

i guess some people are just terrified of sexuality. Kinda sad.

I had my son a while back now... oh gosh... but He was no more than a month and there was I... had got back into shape and was thinking... I want new underwear! So I went to go into a store thats a bit like Victorias Secrets I guess... all beautiful garments etc... not a sex shop and had noooooo toys... just nightwear and silk etc... was an over 18's only. And I was refused entry because of my one and a half month old son.

Now is that a little ott or not?

public not thinking once
about hiding Our actions
and never once needed
to think about the word

course thats a word only
the preachers wifes needed
to know......
however where I raised My children some Rastifarians
walked around naked with their cock twitchin back and
forth and this was concidered the norm. In My Home
We are taught not to look at that which is normal and
ignore it especially if it is a natural thing thats done and
thats how modesty was practiced where I come from.
Hiding a natural action of a parent to child bonding and
