ORIGINAL: WetHotGoddess When I was younger I was VERY skinny. Everyone hated me. I was ridiculed. I was ugly and dorky. Of course, since I was skinny and not fat, I got no sympathy. And now, people wonder why I am such a bitch. Hmm.. i was a toothpick until i was 15... and i was 2 yrs ahead of myself in school(as in skipped ahead two grades), and i wore glasses, and i was mouthy... Guess what? i got picked on.. Hell, i got picked on so much i had to be relocated out of one junior high cause they couldn't guarantee how long i'd live. (Jane/Finch area of Toronto is not a good place to be mouthy if you can't back it up with brawn).. Am i a bitch? well yes, yes i am. But i'm not about to attribute this to it being everyone elses fault cause i was picked on. quote:
ORIGINAL: WetHotGoddess These days being oversized is in style. Being able to "eat like a man" and consume mass quantities of food is something that is marketed to show a "healthy" appetite. Why is there a double-standard concerning obesity as opposed to being thin? It is OK to be fat but NOT ok to be skinny.. Why is that? Hmmm you obviously don't live in the same world i do.. because nowhere here is it ok to be fat.. nor is fat the way most people i know want to be. i get looks every day because of my weight and, yes, i'm about 40 lbs heftier than i should be.. so i'd love to know just where it is on this continent where being fat is so revered. quote:
ORIGINAL: WetHotGoddess I never had anyone compliment me on being thin. Instead, I was insulted. I was asked if I was sick. Skinny people have feelings too. Why are only the chubby folks given consideration? Who is the majority, after all? Well, usually, if i see folks walking around with more bone than muscle mass under their skin i'm going to assume they may have an eating condition.. but then again, i work in a hospital where we have an eating disorders program and have become accustomed to seeing underweight people wandering the building. quote:
ORIGINAL: WetHotGoddess I never had an eating disorder. I was just "skinny".. Oh BTW... being called "skinny" is NOT a compliment. It is a derrogatory comment! Of course, I should take it, and not call someone who is obese "fat", right? It is only derogatory if you allow it to insult you. My advise would be to grow a bit of a thicker skin. Not everyone is familiar with the term slender, skinny may be the only word they know to describe someone who is not fat. quote:
ORIGINAL: WetHotGoddess I , like many who claim to be open minded, really are just as biased and closed minded as the rest of society. Before accusing others of bigotry.. look in the mirror. Funny how these things work.. oh.. and by the way... quote:
ORIGINAL: CreoleCook Truth be told? Obesity is actually running rampant in the United States right now, and if obesity is defined as anyone who is 20 lbs or more above their target weight, I guess I'm fat, too. (even though I'm 6'3", 232 lbs.) Well Darlin... If You're fat, then i'm skinny.. but either way, i sure as hell love the way Your package is put together. [;)]
