The world and all it's people and situations can be a really horrible and trashy place.

The world and all its people and situations can be a really lovely and beautiful place.

Always depends on what perspective you're looking from.

i have to add my agreement to those who say that a hiatus is sometimes needed.  While i usually read through the forums when i have the chance, i often take a break from posting.  Sometimes it's because i have nothing to add (and sometimes i'll post even though i don't have anything new to add..lol), or because i'm not in the proper place in my mind and know my post will be negative or other emotions i rarely write about on the boards, and sometimes i don't post because i see nothing i want to write about or i know nothing of.

Over the time i've been here, i've seen people come and go, the chat cycles through good and bad..just all depends on the day, the month and our moods...

cheers,
jiminie

I come back today and WHAM! I get pissed on by benji here, straight from jump street.

I may be wrong since I didn't read the thread that Benji linked to, but I think his reference to it here was not meant to piss on you.  I think he was pointing out the irony of the OP.  I'm hungover, so what do I know.

I also think that benji directed his reference at the OP's remarks, which just HAPPENED to be about you, smiles, not at you......

Again, this is why things get so blown out of proportion.  I am aware that is not what you were doing, TM, but that brings up some of the points trying to be made.  It is so hard to be able to decipher tonality in the printed word, therefore, misunderstandings occur.

Edited to add:  whoops, this is why I need to read to the end of threads before hitting reply, you already knew all this, lol!!

I think I have to agree with you.  When I first started there were so many threads that I wanted to read I could hardly keep up.  Now, I'm lucky if I check back here twice a day.  Maybe it's just that I've seen everything two or three times already, but I don't find the boards as mentally stimulating as I once did.

I agree. I see alot of bickering and negativity. I ignore those that constantly are negative and nasty. I only respond to those post I want to. Some I feel like to live crisis to crisis.

candystripper,

I have read the posts you have made on this thread, although I dont recall your posts on other threads and for that I apologize.

Have you ever read Sartre's play No Exit?

Hell is other people.  But it is through discourse and disagreement and consensus that we as a species make our way through the hostile and ultimately fatal thing known as life.

I welcome your input.  I already know what I am going to say, and if I dont hear what other people say I dont feel I will learn anything.

Sinergy

candy,

Although i have been a member here for quite some time, i never read these boards (or posted) until just rather recently.  When i came on here, i knew nobody....not a soul.  But i quickly learned who were 'pals'....and who were warring factions (for lack of a better phrase...lol).  i'd say i even allowed myself to get pulled into that drama once, and have no intention of stooping to that level again.

In any event, i quickly learned about the block button here....and proceeded to block those i felt were not worthy of my time.  And it works!

The only thing is....i can't tell if i might be repeating what someone else said but what the hey....it's worth the peace of mind.

You will never change a F'd up personality, neither here nor in RL....so for your own peace of mind, don't let the bastards get ya down!

i've never read one of your posts before....so i don't really know you at all....but i do think your profile is pretty cool

Hope you feel better....soon

DG

miss, i think you are quite wise.  i have only been online a couple of years or so; in Nov of '03 i was in a 'nilla chat room for the first time, and a stray comment made there led me to castle realm, which led me here in Jan of '04.  It's been interesting, frustrating, scarey, amazing and a whole bunch of stuff.

*shudderz*  at the thought you(or anyone for that matter)had to get here through castlerealm, or was ever directed to go there....no one should have to go through that hell.

I also agree, we've lost some excellent people over the year's.  Replaced by a few good ones but we've never gotten what we once had back.
Repetition also gets old.  Two to three times, I'd say two to three hundred times a topic.
In any event the cure is to merely take a break.  That's what I have been doing recently and it works wonders.

Yes Jali that is sooooo true.

There have been times when I allowed myself to be emotionally upset by what I have read on these boards. I still am somewhat saddened by it at times, but for the most part it is just a message board, we should take what we need and leave the rest

My Daddy says that we are all responsible for how we let things affect us, and if I saw CM as being that negative I would quit posting on it...

I forget where I heard it, but we see the world how we are. I believe that to be true, I try to see good in people, even the ones I do not like and disagree with. They are still human beings after all.

I've been posting here for about 5-6 months now and it reminds me of a chatroom, but in slow motion.  You have a little bit of everything.  There are some people here that I like alot. There are others whose behavior I cant stand.  You deal with  the ones you want to deal with, and pass over the rest (or argue with them if you're so inclined) Isn't that life in general?

But like a bad penny I returned.

Hey, like your elephants too!

What happened, did the GOP operatives who appropriated them find out the one in front is an outie and a congressional pagyderm besides?

My advice to the original poster would be to take another hiatus. Twelve to eighteen months, say. ASAP.

Then sway back in with another piss-and-moan post about negativity and we'll take things from there.

Noah, don't forget to tell them to use another nick when they come back on, seems to work wonders for some, noone remembers reading their posts from before.  Sometimes color tells everything though.

While I wont pretend that I am nice to everyone on the boards, because I have taken my swipes at those who have started, for the most part I try and stay civil.
There are plenty that seem to be looking for drama, and when they start a forum or try and hijacka  thread to create it, the easiest way to avoid the problem is to avoid the thread.  I have been attacked on forums before, and survived.  Just remember, you are nothing but a name to most of the ones who are trying to attack you for how you think. The ones to whom you re more than just a nae on a board would know better than that.
Even with the occasional drama magnet on the forums as of late, I find the exchange of information and the help it can be to far outweigh the occasional issue that arrise. I never take anything on here too personally, unless I know the person sending it. Those few who are just random posters can attack me all they like, until they mean somenthing to me beyond another opinion to read on  abaord, itll never concern me.
