Ladies and gentlemen, take a bow and tip your hat to Bernie Sanders, poised to become the first socialist senator in US history.

Did I read on another thread that the good people of Vermont are considered to be the most intelligent when compared with other US states?

Correlation or coincedence?

Gent, not true. If they were intelligent at all they wouldn't be living in Vermont!
Lot's of inbreeding up there. You know Darrel and his other brother Darrel.

Socialism is for people that have no ambition to better themselves - they'd rather make everyone else "equals" so they don't have to put forth any real effort

The Socialists weren't counted in that poll - they don't believe in Democracy, so they never went and voted - LOL

Yup, you add in all the socialists and the inbreds and Vermont is way down on the list, probably next to Arkansas and California.

So, you can post nonsense but no one else can.

You also need to get a sense of humor or don't you understand what LOL means?

Yes, I fully understand what LOL means. It's normally used by those who aren't funny but would like to appear funny.

While you're ridiculing the said person he's busy opposing the Patriot Act which allows the FBI to find out what books you're borrowing. He's also turning out to be a success in his stewardship as a mayor by developing run-down areas and making sure ordinary people can enjoy them. He's also pointing out  that $125 billion have been paid by the Government (tax-payers money) to corporations (e.g. IBM, Motorola etc) in tax-breaks.

He sounds decent enough to me. You seem to have a problem with him. By the way, he considers himself a democratic socialist i.e. he follows the North European model.

He also points out that the US has the highest rate of childhood poverty of any industrialised nation on earth. Is this your problem? are you embarrassed so you'd rather keep it quiet?

You are so busy climbing up on your high horse with your tighty whiteys all in a bunch that you failed to see I wasn't ridiculing what's his name, but I was poking some harmless fun at your post.

We do have problems here in the ol' U.S. of A., but I don't see England as being absent of it's fair share of problems as well. So ...
  1. Get a sense of humor and whimsy or you're going to have an aneurysm
  2. Don't assume us Yanks need your help fixing our house when your house needs work of it's own.
  3. Don't they teach any manners their across the pond, or do you feel you have a right to just trounce on anyone that doesn't agree to every morsel that comes from your mouth?
  4. This is no longer your post - it's about Vermont, which is in the U.S. and since I'm a Yank, I am claiming it as our own.  (We will allow you to visit, but you will need a VISA, a background check and you will have to remove your shoes before going through security)
  5. You take yourself way too seriously - I suggest a nap
  6. Laugh already - golly gee whiz

I would hope that this would put a slight smile across your face, but I'm going to assume that it's only made your butt pucker all the much tighter ...

Oh well, can't please everyone all the time

First, re-read number 4 above - it's no longer your thread.

Second, you are assuming you said something of interest.

Third, you lost any moral high ground when you started name calling.

"He must be a member of the Politburo where some are more equal than others."

....animal farm......written by George Orwell.....who was a communist until he saw how Russia was panning out then basically turned Socialist. Personally TGD, i found your 'jokes' not particulary funny as they relied on the recipient having a McCarthy style fear of left wing policies........however NG is way out of line when he claims an open thread as his own.
As for the news behind the OP, well, people voted a Socialist into power in Vermont......from a left wing point of view it's a good thing....from  a right wing point of view its food for a few bad jokes......woohoooo

I have a fear of far left wing policies and far right wing policies - the people on the extreme fringes are kinda scary.  And there isn't a politician alive that isn't worthy of a few bad jokes.

BTW, no one ever said you had to find me humorous - never a requirement.
