Hmmmm, I do not find you mature, I find you snarky.

But that is just my opinion...

You did not have to address his post at all if you thought it beneath you, but seeing as you did just to insult him shows YOUR character and maturity level. It is my personal opinion that you cannot debate his points, so you attacked him, if that is what passes for maturity where you are from, I would rather never grow up.

Again with the name-calling, Julia?

While it is true that I could have completely ignored Sinergy's post, that I commented at all isn't because I felt the need to attack him or that I am unable to intelligently debate his points... I was merely expressing my own distaste for what I perceive to be an unnecessary juvenile tactic.  I won't be goaded and have no qualms about calling people on their attempts to engage me or others in this manner.

I did not start this thread as an invitation to debate, but as a wish to inject a positive note at a time when some are feeling less than encouraged.  However, I accept that there are those who may want to argue or share their own perceptions.

You are, of course, entitled to have and express your own opinions in any fashion that you so desire.  In the same respect, I will not refrain from bringing to light any conduct that I feel is in bad taste.  Personally, I would find the whole thing amusing if it weren't so sad to see adults displaying such immature and attention seeking behavior.

To be quite honest, Sinergy, I cannot see having an adult conversation with a grown man who insists on using an immature moniker such as "monkeyboy" for any person, let alone the President of our country.

You have every right to dislike the man, use your one vote to help remove him from office, and to encourage others to do so, as well.  However, your efforts to deride him with the equivalent of the school boy "Stinky" do nothing but detract from any intelligent remarks you are trying to make.

That is fine.

I dont have any emotional involvement in whether you listen to, understand, agree with, disagree with, or vilify anything I have to say about Monkeyboy.

I'll tell you what, Sinergy... if you can give me a mature and reasonable explanation as to what purpose it serves for you to refer to Bush as "Monkeyboy", I'll be happy to listen.

.....is an appropriate paraphrase of that paragraph, 'i don't care to hear opposing views, but would rather make those of us who have lost the argument feel as if we didn't......but i can't stop people answering a public thread so i suppose i have to put up with you damn commie pinkos'?

I sort of like "monkey boy", because it reminds me of thehttp://www.bushorchimp.com/

And yes, I know, it should be "chimp boy"; not monkey boy.

For someone who is CONSTANTLY saying things like "This is a comment you shouldn't be proud of," I'd call this one hell of a low-class remark.

I'd say you and julia are indeed a good fit.

Nothing low class about it, unless you have a mind to interpret things that way.

Are you telling me you don't think they are a good fit?

They have a sense of humor that is similar.

They have political beliefs that they share.

They are compatable in all the common ways.

What is it, specifically that you find objectionable to me making the observation that they are a good fit?

It's a personal comment.  Despite your explanation, I don't think you meant it as a compliment, but, regardless, like any personal comment, it's a distraction because it has nothing to do with anything they are saying in this thread; in effect it's just a way of discounting their opinions.  You don't seem to be capable of impersonal discourse, and it's tiresome.

Edited to add: You really don't see what just happened?  We were talking about issues, then you made a personal comment, and now we're talking about your personal comment.  You've derailed the conversation.  That's why adults don't make personal arguments if they want other people to take them seriously.

Interesting thought, but I've got a few observations of my own.

First, while some members of this forum think that the majority of Americans are left of center, the truth is that the majority of Americans are right of center.

You can break that down a lot of ways, if you wish.  In some issues, most are left of center (social beliefs primarily) but still right of center in other areas.  The entire left/right paradigm is a little shallow, but useful in common conversation.

And common perception by many of the "left of center" members of this forum is that they are the overwhelming majority.  This is a false perception (shades of Marx!). [:D]

The truth is, that most "right of center" members of CollarMe simply stay out of the discussions, and rarely call the "left of center" posters on their behavior.  I choose to interpret this in two ways:

1.  Most of them have lives and jobs, and better things to do than engage in rhetoric just for the shake of arguing (some of us don't mind, and have jobs that allows us to engage when we so choose).

2.  Most right of center posters seem to have better manners, in that name calling and juvenile displays of frustration and sarcasm isn't something that they like to get involved in for the most part.

Because of this, the left of center posters pretty much have the run of the forums, and their self-congratulatory posts about the election, and their petty name calling and juvenile  displays of both hubris and pettiness pretty much dominate here.  It's an example of mob psychology and dynamics.  They get a lot of reinforcement from each other, because they are so active.

Nothing wrong with that.  That's just the way things are (conservatives tend to be pragmatic as well).

But it does blind them sometimes to how narrow-minded and petty they appear to others.

This thread wasn't started as a challenge.  I think the OP was quite calm and non-challenging in fact.  Decorum and it's appreciation isn't always a strong point of many left of center people (exceptions noted), however they really do seem to really hate opposing viewpoints, so when they come into a thread like this, where they see things they disagree with, they have a tendency to want to (for the lack of a better phase) muck things up a bit and act like they often get away with because of the group reinforcement dynamic.

When a mirror is held up to their behavior, they see it as an attack (authority and rules - like manners - are bad), get all emotional and attempt to counter-attack to the preceived "injustice" done them, failing to see how their own behavior is offensive to the greater portion of others.

In this particular case, there are several threads gloating about the possible impeachment of Bush, about instant withdrawal from Iraq, about all the investigations that they hope will happen, and a lot of other joyous noises.

So, when someone like treasure post something that is less than a jump for joy over the recent election .... target time.

Welcome to the piling on.

Could be wrong, just me, yada, yada, yada ....

heh. Spot on translation!

I'll agree this was a great election for conservatives, though not because I'm buying any of the right wing propaganda the OP is selling. It was good for conservatives because they've had enough time in power to make their buddies rich and also bungle a war and the budget badly enough that it will take the democrats a long time to fix everything. Meanwhile, the republicans can busy themselves sniping on the sideline at the difficulties the democrats encounter while cleaning up the mess, and also persecuting democrats for having adult consensual blowjobs, and by the time the budget is balanced again and there is peace in the world the republicans will have undermined them enough to regain power again. Then they can get back to pursuing their agenda of greed, corruption, profligate spending, war, pedophilia, hypocrisy and cramming their morals down everyone's throats until they make a mess of everything again.

And the cycle goes on.

What I saw was julia calling people who support republicans the "religious right whackjob base" and saying "getting rid of republicans was like giving America an enema and flushing the toilet".

Basically, she was told that these comments (and others) were insulting.  Which they are.

Then all hell broke lose.

So, it appears to just be fine and dandy for your "side" to cast insults, but it's a terrible injustice and petty if someone on the other side calls them on it?

You and your supporters don't seem to be capable of impersonal discourse, and it's tiresome.

I think that on the larger issues most Americans swing left of center. Most Americans are pro-choice, worried about global warming, are against unnecessary wars, and massive government spending that is being put on a charge card that will be billed to their children. Most Americans support stem cell research, alternatives to fossil fuels, care about emergency preparedness and want to build are infrastructure.

*sighs*  I don't know where to even begin to address these comments.  If presented with some statistical facts or documented evidence that these are the viewpoints of all but a small minority of Americans, I might be able to accept your assertions.

Pro-choice = 49% for, 45% against

http://www.lifenews.com/nat474.html

Stem Cell = 58% for, 30% against

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/DailyNews/poll010626.html

Global warming = 62% are concerned

Just a small sampling. I didn't find a single poll which fell very far outside the numbers presented here and on the other issues, the views were similar, but you can do the rest of your homework yourself. :)

If you are an evangelical corrupt republican that held office, yes that enema comment includes you.

BTW People who insult others in a passive aggressive manner and then claim complete innocence after the fact are what I call dishonest.

I will post where ever I like BTW, and there is not much you can do about that other than block me. And yes, people who call my Dominant immature while they pretend to be somehow morally superior to us lesser mortals will get back a little of what they dish out. If she can't stand the heat she shouldn't have come into the kitchen, perhaps she learned something about insulting people while pretending that she is better than the rest of us. I doubt she will though, because you are HER example, and do the same thing.

I have to say my Daddy was never rude to your submissive even when attacked by her, you turned around and attacked him too, then claim you didn't. I know it, you know it.. and that is good enough for me. Like I have said, I will keep my values as opposed to your so-called moral republican better than ones.
