I was making a large poster, a flow-chart if you will, of a grade 12 Legal Studies unit in VCE (last two years of secondary school in the state of Victoria, OZ), which I was to present to my Social Education B tutorial the following day (as an undergraduate, I constantly left things to the last minute -- nevertheless, I took out the highest grade in the class, in the assignment). I was cutting out my typed up quotes (terrible handwriting), and, one of the pieces of paper slipped between my fingers. I stupidly cut anyway, and took a large CHUNK of flesh out of my hand. Between my thumb and forefinger, which is one of the most oft-stretched areas on the body. See, I was cutting downwards, and didn't have a proper grip on the paper... But I was impatient, and rushed, and didn't look at what I was doing, properly. Back then, I was quite a different person, and I did not respond to pain very well AT ALL. I proceeded to get a look at the blood, and my flesh hanging off the scissors (it was quite deep), and I fainted. Banging my head on the side of my desk. In short, I ended up with a concussion, and seven stitches. And a permanent scar, that still gets aggravated from time to time.
