(damn memory has gone blank, but I think most yanks will know what I am thinking of). There is an initiation of sorts. The other analogy is the party or school social one where there are many different sets/groups of established friendships. Joining a forum is akin, IMO, to being a stranger walking into a school social. Some groups will point at laugh at your differences and poke fun. Others will simply ignore you and others again will sit back and observe before deciding whether or not to approach. There are also those that will welcome you. You cant really walk up to any of the groups and instantly join in and feel part of them. You dont get any of the "in" jokes, or "remember when" references etc. Its an adjustment time. You need to see where you fit, and sometimes you will never "get" some jokes and they wont be explained. Me? I tend to walk up to and into a group, thats my nature. Often it back fires. And yes your right the icecream cone is like a red flag to some posters LOL. <and before I get accused at attempting to attack or have a dig at anyone here, I'm not>

Ahhhhhh... I miss those days! Not so much for the sexual freedom, but because people were not so quick to point out the error of someone elses choice. Basically, what most others have said. Talk to each other & see what you both want. And get tested for cooties. Pubic lice don't really care about condoms... neither does crotch rot (athletes foot in the nether regions) and an assorted other nasties that I can't remember atm.

WHAT SAMKEITHSLAVE SAID!!! I think the term your look for is fraternity? Hazings that take place in a fraternity? CM can be a bit "cliqueish" and a vanilla cone will bring those few out of the woodwork, no matter how benign or innocent your post may be. i'm not sure what the magic icon is yet that makes you a full fledged member of CM.
