RiotGirl -> RE: Can avatars be deceptive advertising? (12/4/2006 4:05:15 PM)

lol - ok ok ok so its not technically possible to impale a girl with a penis.  Although, i think if one were to aim to do that alot more would come out then the penis first.  heh!

Erm, but what do you think would really happen if one were to put the whole of an elephant sized penis in a girl?  A girl is only suitable for about 6 inches in length.. maybe 8 inches... Now imagine a 5 foot elephant cock thrust into a girl.  It would have to go somewhere.  And if it were me, since i am 5'1, it would surely be popping out of my mouth.  ::sigh:: i cant imagine a girl not  running from a 5 foot cock.  Especially with the thrusting power of an elephant.  What a way to die.

Which <wicked grin>  brings me back to my orginal conclusion.  Women are afraid of your penis!

::sigh:: dont you love it when i'm right!!  ha ha

I often see people choose avatars that are a photo of some gorgeous model type woman. For many of us, we have come to know over time that it's not their picture. I have seen many times though, that someone mistakenly thinks it IS their photo. The avatar that was chosen by SusanofO comes to mind most recently when someone saw it used by another poster and assumed it was Susan under a new name. Does anyone view this as deceptive advertising?

I think the rules are fairly clear;

No commercial photos or artwork - Only pictures you took yourself

No extreme or vulgar pictures.

No objects or places for your primary photo

No explicit genital nudity or persons in bondage.

Persons who appear underage will be asked to furnish proof of age

I took this to mean that I couldnt place pictures up that are "cartoons" or drawings etc etc and that the displayed picture MUST be me, though so many member seem to display images that clearly are not them and nothing is done, so I assume that the rule is one that just isnt enforced. I could of course be misinterpretating.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I havent gotten through the whole thread yet. For the record I'd like to see ONLY pictures of the real person allowed, no symbols, "artwork" etc I think it gives a much more personal feel to things.

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Can avatars be deceptive advertising? (12/4/2006 4:31:59 PM)

Haven't read the entire thread.

I tend to think a lot of what is shown by people in general is false advertising, I take everyone here at their word initially, but that's with the safety that I'm not looking for a partner so I stand no real risk from doing so.

In /rl however, it's much different.  I have a baseline of trust that I give to everyone because that's the way I like to interact with others, but I'm very cautious about them at the time until I feel I've been able to both follow initial instincts and ascertain a knowlege of them based on time spent getting to know them.

Even then, I'm realistic enough to know that people can often surprise you later on, so I rarely feel 100% certain about someone and keep whatever distance I need to in order to feel 'safe'.  There's risk in everything, it's all variant on the situation and the type of relationship with a person whether or not trust even needs to be an issue.

As far as this site goes, I take an avatar with as much value as I'd put on a physical appearance.  It can help to get a feel for a person, but is a bit ridiculous to assume anything in depth about a person from it.  Anyone's who convinced an avatar is the real person and then feels some disappointment likely needs to reassess their processes.

Maybe I'm just thinking too much, I tend to do that [X(] lol

If it's just as basic as someone having a false picture for an avatar or profile, and another being genuinely interesting then finding out the pictures had been a lie, I could understand feeling angry or disappointed.  Seems it's just one of the risks of online dating.  I'm not the kind of personality who could deal with that sort of 'risk'.  I'd rather stick with face to face interactions where I know I could still be fooled by a potential partner, but the risk would be significantly lower because there is so much more to go on that is harder to fake when you're both in person.

It is a shame that the avatar library hasn't grown since they shut down people using their own.

copied from the board:

If your avatar is missing... - 10/22/2005 6:54:00 PM
Out of necessity we have removed some user posted avatars and are forced to restrict the addition of new ones due the inability to moderate the content of the avatars before they are posted. If you have a photo on Collarme it will default as your forum avatar or you can select an avatar from one of the avatar libraries we provide. If you are an artist who would like to contribute more than 10 avatars of your own creation for our use please feel free to contact me on the site. If you had an avatar that you posted which you feel should not have been removed and is not sexually explicit in any way, or you have a primary photo on your Collarme profile and it does not appear as your forum avatar please send me a note and I will look into it.

Ahhhh, well that clears it up for me, though also confuses me.

Well, dearie...
I know who you are and what cha look like and have seen you morph from your butterfly pictures, to striped stockings, to a manequin, to you again, to this chick-lette.  [:)]  I just wanted to say that your new "manifestation of self" seems to agree with you.  Hope you and your Master are doing well.

Owned1 -> RE: Can avatars be deceptive advertising? (12/4/2006 8:22:48 PM)

Just for clarification I am my avatar~~~~in my dreams~~~~~~ I liked the pic,  there was little to choose from I have tried a couple before I settled on this one,

I have no desire to post a pic of myself for many reasons.

If anyone asks I am very upfront and let them know it is not me.

There is no direct connection between a woman's vagina and her mouth.

Now, if the elephant put you in a cheerleaders out fit and anally violated you, it's penis would have to transcend 5 or so feet of large intestine, 23 feet of small intestine, the stomach, the esophagus, and 5 inches of mouth to pot out of your mouth.

I suppose it is a goal to strive for, but there you go.

Consider these tidbits before you go for it there riot....an average elephant penis is 5ft long and weighs an average of 59.5 lbs!!!!

I think most of us that are new to the message boards, think all pictures are the person who wrote the posting.

What are you confused about?

Only that in one section it states all pictures must be ones you have taken yourself and can not be drawings etc and yet as someone else quoted you can choose from a selection of avatars for your messages.
Its ok now I do understand, I was initially under the impression the picture you used for your profile WAS the avatar, so thats where the confusion (for me at least) came in.

Fawne -> RE: Can avatars be deceptive advertising? (12/4/2006 11:19:02 PM)

Elephant's penis' aside ;)

Those "real pic" beautiful human avatars did confuse me in the beginning. Until I searched the avatar choices and saw the staged hottie shots were choices one could make if desired. It is kinda misleading, although not by intention - I guess.

I used to use cartoon avatars. They are cute and designed by talented people.

When my profile is open. I use my own real pictures of myself.

I do believe I'll open my profile again! Its way more fun to "be real"!

Love, fawne

slavemaia -> RE: Can avatars be deceptive advertising? (12/5/2006 12:01:06 AM)

Well, although this is not me it's an avatar, i like it alot and so does Master. Since i'm owned it doesn't matter what anyone thinks about what i look like. i have never and would never put a real pic of myself on any public board - too many wackos out there.

mstrjx - oddly the foot always gives me pause.  I initially think "woman" and i remember seeing some where that you arent a woman.. but a man.... and sometimes i cant remember where i saw you as a man.... and then i get confused = (  Now i just wonder why you have a foot.  Shoe fetish?  Like the Stilleto?  But really, a stilleto with a platform??

No, RiotGirl, I'm definitely all 'Jeff', which would be male.

To say that I have a shoe fetish would be accurate but not really telling the entire story.  I find that women who enjoy dressing for pleasure (implied but not required by the combination of the stiletto and the platform) are more in touch with their sexual selves, more confident, and more adventurous.  To me, these are qualities that I would ultimately want to attract.  These are also the same qualities I possess; I just don't go around saying so very often.

Jeff
