If money were no object, I would buy all kinds of beautiful, funky bags.  I love purses, just adore them, and tote bags...  always have.  Don't give a damn about shoes, just make them comfortable (I have a torn tendon and have to be careful of what I wear), and look decent, and I'm happy.  Aaahhhh.....  but purses...    I get giddy!

*fantasies about bags that cost crazy amounts of money and giggles to self*

If I had a ton of money I'd buy every puss I could find.

Oh purse, well, my comment still stands.

FelineP - Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.  I've been very lucky so far, every site I've ordered from has been fantastic, hopefully the trend will continue and if it doesn't then my horror story will be minor.  Hoping your bad experiences are over now too

A friend stopped over to show me her new purse. Nice bag....over $600 !!! Ok...am I insane? I just can't imagine parting with 600 of my dollars for a purse. I do have a couple of nicer purses that were given to me as gifts...one a Brighton, the other a Dooney&Bourke....but I would dare to say that neither of them came close to that price tag, nor would I spend that kind of money on one for myself. I do love them and they are very nice quality bags but gosh....I'm fairly certain that I could find similar style and quality for alot less money if the name wasn't imprinted on them. Most of my other bags are the 50 bucks or less variety and I like them equally well.

How important is the designer name in your purchase decisions? If money was not an issue, would you still balk at those kind of prices? Is buying an item such as these a "status" thing, a "style" thing or more of a way to pamper yourself?

I tend to be the type of shopper that develops brand loyalty.  Once I like the quality and cut of a brand I stick with it, and for purses, it tends to be Coach bags.  They have a lifetime warranty, the quality of leather is absolutely wonderful, and I find that their styles are trendy but not so trendy that you feel like you can't wear the same purse for years.  I have a few other designer purses, but mostly my purses are Coach purses, but they all fall under the same "I like quality" rubric.  I don't believe you could find a purse with the same quality as a Coach purse for significantly less money, however someone of the designer purses I definitely think are all about the name and they really aren't very well constructed nor do they have a really high quality of leather.

So for me its not really a status thing, its a pampering myself with items I think are a good quality.  I do the same thing with shoes, I think that you can tell a lot about someone by their accessories.  A lot of times women pay attention to the clothing, but not to the other details which I think can tell you a lot (and I don't mean whether they are wearing a big ticket label).  So the shoes, the purse, the jewelry, the makeup (altho I'm a minimalist in that area) I think can really make or break an outfit and tell a lot.

I just had to add something I remembered about myself last night at the TSO concert- I'm a total seat snob at events.

If I can't get a good seat for an event, I'm far less inclined to go.  This usually means I don't go to as many events and plan them out in advance so I can get the advance ticket sales and be assured of excellent seating.

I won't REFUSE an event I like if I have a sucky seat, but it's certainly something I tend to be a snob about.

Women are so frivolous! Guys would never waste that sort of money on a purse - they'd save up for a really awsome, useful thing like a $150,000 pool cue...

I own 2 purses.  I use one for work, since it fits in my locker nicely, and the other whenever I go out aside from work since it is easier to carry over my shoulder. My mom was impressed that I put the effort into finding 2 that look similiar enough in design that both match my favorite wallet.
Sum total for both, $15.
I am good to go.

To me, it's all about what you are willing to pay for. I paid 20 dollars for my eyeglass frames at Wal-Mart. I paid more for the lenses then I did the frame. Part of that was because I needed them now. However, I'll pay 100 dollars for a wash, cut, and color in a fancy hairdressing salon because that's Aqua's pampering time. And I love it... Only do it about four times a year and I save up for it, but God I love it.

Purses? Eh... my prettiest purse is one that cost me about 10 bucks and it's perfect for me because I made it. I bought a small amount of fabric, a pretty ribbon, a decorative button and voila! A lovely purse that matches my favorite dressy outfit prefectly. I've never paid more then 20 dollars for a purse but my Mom has given me Coach purses. Honestly I don't really think they look all that great.

Actually Dooney and Bourke bags up there in price Erin, so don't bet one of your purses didn't cost close to $600.
I like purses/bags...  Nothing too funky/trendy, but definitely nice leather bags I like.   I have always found myself too cheap to buy a $600 purse.   Mind you I have more than $600 worth total, but my maximum has benn $120 for a coach as a matter of fact at an outlet, which I never used and ended up giving away.

I wish everyone Happy and Healthy holidays.   M

  I like your thinking, lol.

I don't see very many handbags, purses, wallets, etc..... that impress me all that much so I look for practical and affordable.

Right now I have 2 that I use off and on, one from Target (on clearance for about $15) and the other from a yard sale for  .25, LOL!

I like tote bags, but have backed off collecting them for now.

Shoes have to be comfy, but somewhat stylish (well, to me anyways).

I  *REALLY*  like excellent seats to concerts or why even bother.

*sigh*

Excellently put LA.. I'm just about the same. I would much rather be on the floor for my concerts than up in the nosebleeds..
