John Mayall. Turning Point concert, November 1969. I was 14 and the girl I was with was also14, that night we smoked our first joint and indulged in a lot of heavy petting. We both broke our duck on my birthday a little over two months later. Thanks for the memories J. wherever you are now.

Ah yes, I did not see a concert for many years without being stoned or chemically altered  .
I'm not sure I had any ducks , but there were some nice young ladies around back then.

Me and a friend gave some thought to going there for the Stones, but money is just too tight right now. Hell, I even passed up a faux Foreigner show here (no Lou Gramm!).

That's what we decided for The Who unfortunately.

And I hear you on the Foreigner, I'm a recent convert myself (as well as Supertramp and the Cars).

The J. Geils Band in 1974, I believe. Opening act was Brownsville Station.
I had just moved here to New England from Pa and didn't have a whole lot of friend. There was another " new girl" from Jersey and she and I went together. We both talked " funny" , but at least we didn't have to repeat ourselves to each other. lol.

I was forbidden to go to concerts at that time, so I had to sneak out. I remember panickign on the way home cuz we smelled of pot, which was everywhere at that concert. We stopped at an all night drug store and bought a bottle of Charlie cologne to mask the smell toour parents. Damn that stuff was awful smelling, but we thought we were pretty slick.
Nope, I never got caught and confessed my sin to my parents about 6 years later. They weren't at all surprised.

Led Zep! Probably around 1975 or so. A girl fell from the tier above me and broke her back, and my older sister was grounded for a month for taking me because I was only about 10 years old. LOL ahhhhh the 70's.

Love the Cars; they have some primo videos of them in various concerts on youTube, if you haven't already checked them out, LA.

LOL at your "charlie" story . I think a lot of our parents were far more knowledgable than we gave them credit for.

I damn near would have given my left one to see Zep in their prime. I still remember getting ready to go out the door for school when they announced on the Today Show that John Bonham had died, and the tour was cancelled.

Robert Plant said he would not be against joining back up again with Jimmy Page to do some more music, but for some reason, they have shunned John Paul Jones. I guess that'd make it too close to Zeppelin.....

What was your first concert to see? Any memories of it, lol?

Mine was in 1979, I believe, the Pat Travers Band opened (doing new songs like "Crash and Burn", and "Snortin' Whiskey"), and Rainbow headlined. Both bands were terrific, the only glitch coming when Rainbow founder Ritchie Blackmore broke a couple of strings on his guitar, and there was trouble getting things lined out; you could see him getting extremely pissed.

Leaving the venue, my ears rang like never before... but I could still hear myself yelling "Oh shit!!" when we got to my car to find my stereo stolen.

Thinkin Mine was back in 1975 or 76 with The O'Jays, Eddie Kendricks and Tavares. Shortly thereafter I started goin to concerts fairly often. In 79 though I saw an unknown band called Van Halen opening for Black Sabbath prior to Ozzie gettin the boot! I saw Travers years later in a small venue here in Indy. Kicked royal ass!

Hmmmmmmmmm.

I ~think~ it was Van Halen in 1982, forget the tour (we smoked a lotta good weed back then 'cause we were young, stupid, and still had connections).

My brother would have loved to went to the O'Jays and Taveres show, but the Van Halen/Sabbath, that'd have been awesome. I saw Ozzy on his Diary Of A Madman tour, not long before Randy Rhodes died; superb show.

I just read that Eddie Van Halen has officially fired Michael Anthony, and replaced him with his 14 year old son Wolfgang, and they may bring Roth back.

Any of them would be excellent shows, Ron. Lee doing "I'd Love To Change The World", or Miles burning down the joint..... and I like the Moody Blues a lot.
