I can't remember my first concert, how awful is that? I'm sure I should, especially as I was over 30 yrs old..

I won't forget Elton John in Brum , Bare Naked Ladies at Wembley,  Fun Loving Criminals at Glastonbury Festival or REM in Hyde Park, last summer though....and I always enjoy Jules Holland live whenever he's local.

I feel a real itch for some live music now......lol

wow, has this post got me all nostalgic! First gig I went to.. Hawkwind, in 73/4. I was 16. Walked out of the gig partially deaf, with stinking headache from the noise, the lightshow (if anyone saw hawkwind in the 70's they made massive use of strobe lighting), and shaking my head to the beat! I had a brief heavy metal stage, anyone ever see Sensational Alex Harvey Band? Then got into punk in 76 seeing damned, clash, pistols stranglers and others all on their first tours. Wow that was a year....but that very first gig was something special! Thanks for reminding me of it...

Inspiral Carpets around '88. It was wank. Even to a 15 years old wet behind the ears.

Had a much better time at The Happy Mondays around 9 months later. A real eye-opener, never seen so many people completey and utterly blitzed. A first class band too and a whole new sub-culture for young Britons.

Much prefer small venues though - you can't beat a decent live band in a rammed hall where everyone knows the music.

First concert was Beach Boys 1964-65? Was in elemenatary school and Dad was cool enough to know it was important, since I had been playing drums since 2nd grade. At Merriweather Post Pavillion in Md. ( I opened the stage gate for performers and checked IDs) I had a great summmer out of high school 1970...met and saw Hendrix one night then Simon and Garfunkle the next. Couple years later saw Zepplin open as a new band for the Who doing Tommy. Pink Floyd's DarkSide of the Moon tour. Yes, Genesis, the Dead, ...needless to say, I love live music and go as often as possible.

My first concert was Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes when I was about thirteen.  Can you get more Jersey than that other than Bruce?  I saw them at Great Adventure back when a ticket to the park also allowed you into the concerts.
I've seen Duran Duran, The Eagles (Hell Freezes Over Tour, 1994), Pink Floyd (The Division Bell, 1994)  The Stones (also 94) and a couple of times after that.  They're friggin old..  I've seen Johnny Winter at a small venue...maybe 500 people.  He was fantastic.  Johnny Lang about three times.  The Allman Brothers countless times.  Buddy Guy.  The Black Crowes down at a bar at the Jersey shore.  They were incredible.  Bruce only once...not a fan.  Greenday a couple of times.  Godsmack twice.  Rob Zombie.  And Tom Jones.

edited because I just remembered John Mellancamp.  And Barry Manilow (don't ask)

We did 2 Doodlebops shows, and 2 Wiggles shows this season so far. ( ONE of the Wiggles shows was a Greg, before Sam took over... )

Mine was in 1979, I believe, the Pat Travers Band opened (doing new songs like "Crash and Burn", and "Snortin' Whiskey"), and Rainbow headlined. Both bands were terrific, the only glitch coming when Rainbow founder Ritchie Blackmore broke a couple of strings on his guitar, and there was trouble getting things lined out; you could see him getting extremely pissed.

Leaving the venue, my ears rang like never before... but I could still hear myself yelling "Oh shit!!" when we got to my car to find my stereo stolen.

Thinkin Mine was back in 1975 or 76 with The O'Jays, Eddie Kendricks and Tavares. Shortly thereafter I started goin to concerts fairly often. In 79 though I saw an unknown band called Van Halen opening for Black Sabbath prior to Ozzie gettin the boot! I saw Travers years later in a small venue here in Indy. Kicked royal ass!

My brother would have loved to went to the O'Jays and Taveres show, but the Van Halen/Sabbath, that'd have been awesome. I saw Ozzy on his Diary Of A Madman tour, not long before Randy Rhodes died; superb show.

Yea it was.. I remember thinkin after the show 'that lil guy on guitar blew Sabbath outta the water!' LOL..  Saw Ozzy several times around that time too, both ''Blizzard'' & "Diary" got to see Randy twice, damn shame legends like him and Dimebag go down like that. They are missed to be sure..

Just shoot me now.  I lucked out when my little ones took one look at the Wiggles on tv and said no fucking way.  They know the words to a lot of Godsmack, Zombie, Greenday.  Is that wrong?

My first big concert in a coliseum-type venue was the band Yes for the 90125 tour back in 1984.  I was so innocent back then, so I remember it all.   I still head to concerts as much as possible, but tend to enjoy the smaller venues like the 9:30 Club and Black Cat in DC, Starr Hill in Charlottesville, VA, and The Norva in Norfolk, VA.

So I'm pretty much screwed.
