Just to clarify, to the world at large of course, one aspect of PC Liberal thinking is to refuse to admit that something that they hold to be true and  operating in a positive way, is in fact false and is operating with negative consequences.

Exactly.  You would never hear Conservatives like Monkeyboy or whoever refuse to admit that something they hold to be true and operating in a positive way is in fact false and is operating with negative conse...

Take, for example, the connection between Al Qaeda and Sadda..

Bad example...

How about the connection between gutting FEMA, putting it under the auspices of the DHS, and standing water drowning New Orle...

Bad example...

Wait.

Umm.  Move along, nothing to see here.

Sinergy

p.s.  On a related note, NG is correct in his comment that the term PC Liberal Thinking is simply inflammatory rhetoric when you use the term.  Now if you were to provide a cogent definition of this rhetorical comment, and back it up with something which NG stated, it would nicely tie the two together.   From my perspective, simply restating a baseless assertion as an attempt to insult another poster reflects poorly on the one casting the stone.

Which is not to say I am blameless, but..

An example of this is when people assume, because of my almost constant casting of negative aspersions at Monkeyboy and his ilk, that I am a Democrat and a supporter of Zipper.  I am not.  The reason I write so venomously about the Chimp In Chief is that I have read a multitude of works on his policies, his history, etc., including one called "The Leadership Genius of George W. Bush."  I thought the book was a joke, but it turns out the person really believed what he was writing.

David Beckham told me that the invasion of Iraq was basically about WMDs.
The negative consequences seen in Iraq are down to hatred Sunni/Shia.  NO ?
G Bush never told them to start killing one another and blowing things up willy nilly.
He can do that if necessary !

I admit my <quote> example was weak because I tried to generalise with the PC ideal of the ongoing or likely future success of multi culturalism in mind. Not sure whether the full flavour of that translates to the US, but all in the UK will know how we have had it rammed down our throats for the last 15 years or so.

Just a thought: I did see G Bush admit that things were not going well in Iraq.
So maybe your example is weak too !

Who exactly is David Beckham and what basis did he make this claim on?

The Neocons wanted to invade Iraq after Desert Storm, but Monkeyboy's father paid attention to the reports that indicated to do so would unleash ethnic violence and the United States military would be unable to contain it.

Oddly enough, Rumsfeld and Cheney and Perle were part of the crew desperately trying to convince Monkeyboy's father to invade and control Iraq.

Monkeyboy doesnt pay attention to much at anything, so the Vulcans were able to convince him to go to war.

Not really.  Saddam kept an iron bootheel on the country and forced them all to play nice under pain of death.

On the other hand, the Kurds are Sunni (well, an off branch) and so are most of the Iraqis.  They hate each other, so to state that it is hatred between Sunni and Shia is an oversimplification of a complex situation.

A lot of the Sunni are busily killing other Sunni.

A lot of the Shia involved in blowing things up actually are non-Iraqis sent in by Al Qaeda to do so.

What is important about that sentence is none of this happened before the United States invaded.

News Update:   He already sent the US Military and all those contractors in to kill them and blow things up
willy nilly.

Apparently, he is the only person allowed to do that.

How many years too late?

And he did appear that somebody was standing behind him with their hand on the vice that Monkeyboy's testicles were in, in order to make him admit to the camera that he screwed up.

Whooops!

Mr. Beckham is the subject of the OP. I think what we have here is a slight failure of humour to translate correctly across the wet bit between here and there :)

Oh dear Sleazy! Now youve done it....

Still, its not a bad life being swerved past for "testing the patience" of NG (for which, read "exposing his dreamy view of the world as without foundation")

Damn. Now he's going to want an explanation of "dreamy".

E

LadyE, I think its well known now that myself & NG disagree on many things.

dreamy

1.
of the nature of or characteristic of dreams; visionary.

2.
vague; dim.

3.
soothing; restful; quieting: dreamy music.

4.
given to daydreaming or reverie.

5.
abounding in dreams; characterized by or causing dreams.

6.
Informal. wonderful; marvelous: He has a dreamy new convertible

Im guessing Number 2 would be your choice LadyE

Living near the future olympic site (if it ever comes to completion on time even if never on budget) I would like to take this opportunity to see if anyone knows how I get liberal-baiting to be a recognised sport (much more fun that football no matter what kind of football you prefer)

Well, a soccer star would be the best source for information about WMDs in Iraq.

My bad.

What really concerns me is that he would be no more and no less reliable than many political names :(

How did a thread about David Beckam moving to the USA turn political anyway?

Don't think I am to blame this time MissT.

I think I even tried to get it back on thread, but right now I'm barely awake.

Well I think Emma Bunton, who is a friend of D Beckham and asked him not to go to America, should have won Strictly Come Dancing.

Thats got something for everybody, A Spice Girl, A bit of Discipline (Strictly) and lots of coming whether dancing or not !

She was certainly a good little mover. No doubt about that.
But I think Emma's  legs would just fit nicely over my shoulders as we did one of those tricky dance routines, I would fall back over backwards and make a meal of anything I could my teeth into... I can dream cant I.
You look as tho' you have long legs Ms T

Nuke 'em, you must be running out of targets by now (they have WMDs, by the way).
