my biggest fear is hurting someone close to me. i used to have a fear of being attacked (raped or otherwise), but certain circumstances in my life have led to that, well, not being my biggest fear anymore. however, i've always had a fear of disappointing and/or hurting those i love.

Yes fear of hurting someone emotionally is a great cross to bear.

I think the thing I fear most is discovering my partner is something else than I thought he was.

Yes having expectations dashes is not something any one wishes to have happen.

Past that a serious fear I have is heights.

I can actually lay in bed and just think of looking over a edge of a high building and get shivvers.

I never really thought about it.    I guess my biggest fear would be not being allowed to have the opportunity to experience everything I want to.

What is stopping you?

Non-consensual physical abuse of a grave nature (like a terrible beating).
Had it happen, and survived it - wouldn't go there again.

Not something anyone wants or should be subjected to

Second in line (and maybe closely related) is someone with an out-of-control temper or "anger issues".

Anger management is something that everyone needs.

my biggest fear is of losing my Master...him passing away and me still being here, having to function, exist, without him.

That would be sad but over time life goes within and without you.

As I said before he would want you to celebrate his life.

It would be interesting to find out what a dominant's biggest fear is...if they'd tell!

Disappointing the people I love. I'm a people pleaser.

No one wishes to be a disapointment in anyone's eyes.

Many adults are still trying to win the approval of their parrents

. Doesn't help that I lack experience in bdsm play with others to determine the bdsm related fears.

Experience is not needed. Just willingness to explore within consenting limits.

Anyone can experience.

Take a timeline where someone plays once a year.

Another one is on an island for a month and endures everything.

Who is to say who is most experienced?

No one is responsible for your happiness.

Happiness comes from within.

Others just make it a little easier.

Lets see, in terms of play, doing some edge play extended bondage/captivity scenes and trusting that nothing happens to Her.

Fear of heart attacks during play while bound is a common theme among submssives.

i would have to say that, although i don't fear too much in this world, being restrained gaged and blindfolded, and then (going against all my hard limits and any agreements made) being forcibly used by another male. i would definately put a bullet in my head once i got free after such a horrible ordeal.

I would hope you or anyone else would not be subjected to such a thing.

I would also hope you had the strength to deal with the aftermath and not to give up.

my fear ??
to be alone.. truly be alone; with no one to love and take care of

So how does one prevent that?....to project what you wish to be..as you evolve into what you seek and desire.

No one wants to be let go or thrown away. That is human nature.

For some collars have different significant meanings.

It is the agreement and understanding of the meanings that make the bind.

another of my "concerns" is to be badly injured or possible killed during a "session"

What if the submissive were terminally ill and wished to end it that way within the session?

Sometimes I take questions too literally but ...

1)  My biggest fear is dying, and there is no way I am going to escape that fate.
It's not bad to think realistically about it because it can put other fears in perspective.

and our choices are?

2)  Second worse is either nuclear war or looking like a fool - and in a survey of college students, the latter came in at number one.

I would rather look the fool than a war of that destruction

3)  As far as losing a treasured intimate relationship - been there and I lived.  Refer to #1.

I wrote an essay once on a monster that I grew up with, and its name was "Something Bad."  If I didn't do everything thing right, "Something Bad" was going to happen to me.  "Something Bad" is going to happen to me (see #1, above), so it's crazy to spend time fretting the phantoms of lesser misfortune.  IMO.

I think it is time to put the monster from childhood to rest and resolve concentrating on life and enjoying it.

My biggest fear being sub is feeling the need to serve so badly that i forget any sensible rules and end up letting submission take me to places i know i shouldnt be going...

Common sense is something one should not lose sight of.

It is the dominants responsibility to take care of the safety both emotionally and physically

My biggest fear would be to become so comfortable in my "comfort zone" that I stopped living.  I have seen so many wilt away and die that way ....
