ORIGINAL: WyrdRich If you want to be sure you are actually helping, put together a nice care package. They appreciate canned soup, baby wipes, DVD's, books and good 2-ply toilet paper. Since you don't seem to know anybody who has chosen to serve their country, pick a unit and address the package to 'First Sergeant' and the unit number. He'll make sure it goes to someone who could use it. I have NO intention of jumping in this fray...I only want to inform anyone who reads the above and feels inspired to act, to check out the website www.anysoldier.com. it is an excellent resource: of what to send, how to send, how to find someone to send to. you can select from servicemen and women stationed all over the world. I would, in fact, challenge each person that has contributed to this thread to take 5 minutes, find a serviceman at this website, and send them something, anything, to acknowledge their service and make their day a little better. Thanks for the site, I went ahead and played soldier roulette for a few calling cards. I did have an issue with the sites advertising 8 dollars worth of stuff for 130 dollars, but my issues with those who capitalize on the tragedy of others is not something I am going to inflict on those in Iraq. Sinergy you're welcome...thank you for accepting the challenge. one of the things I like best about this site is that it makes a good point about supporting troops...it doesn't have to be about money. sending a card or a letter is just as welcome.
