Well to be honest it's never even occured to me to post anything...until today.  Today my eyes just got drawn to the button.  So I pushed it. Hmm, think I'll go see what other buttons I can find.  Heh, there's one below here that says OK.  I think I like that one...time to push again.

Welcome excellent first post!..Look up!..that sub above you doesn't wear panties and doesn't shall we say "tend to her garden."

SassySue -> RE: Those who do not post (2/4/2007 8:00:30 PM)

I don't post much because everytime I do, my mailbox fills up with nonsense.

tml721 -> RE: Those who do not post (2/4/2007 8:03:57 PM)

To me its another way to meet the right woman I'm looking for. Unfortunitly I get in over my head at times and end up in a bar room brawl.

I tend to my garden very well, thank you.  Now run along and get ready for school you little scamp.

LadyEllen -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 4:48:03 AM)

I worked out once, that for the number of members on the other side and the number of posts here, there is an average of 2.something posts per member. Since plenty of us are in the thousands of posts, and taking 1500 posts as an average, it meant there are less than 600 people participating on this side.

Yes. I have a boring and lonely life.

ScreamerGirl -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 3:19:38 PM)

After several years running some yahoo lists, I burnt out hard on internet BDSM discussions.  I haven't even looked at the board in months, maybe a year.

I've also been going through a divorce and wanted to keep my halo clean til it was done~

Perhaps that is just because "you so dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmn sexy?"  [&:]

littlesarbonn -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 5:10:10 PM)

I posted a lot. I've decided due to some hostility here to post sparingly, if that.

deeddlit -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 5:21:21 PM)

lol...I just think of the folks that post as the folks that like to hear themselves talk...obviously me included.

sassykat -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 5:25:01 PM)

I generally post if I feel I have something worthwhile to add. I started reading the forums when I was getting to know a Dominant who posted here regularly. His advice to me was to read his postings and see if I thought I mght be interested in knowing him bettter. I took his advice and am very glad I did. He's dear to my heart and I'm glad we're friends.

This is a very good point. First of all, who made LA the official "Welcome Wagon" driver here on the forums? And secondly, LA, you need to be nicer to newbies. Shame on you ;)

venusdiva429 -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 7:41:48 PM)

I'm up in the air about whether to post more. I already had a very condescending and presumptuous Dom sass me about my profile, and there seems to be a lot of flaming. Eeek!

I will say that there's a lot of very good knowledge on here, and that it's a wonderfully diverse community. Now, I think I'll go hide again...perhaps.

MistressSassy66 -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 7:55:46 PM)

The main reason IMO is because some of the people here are not always welcoming.
New people that have posted(I know who they are) have been picked on,so they just lurk instead or avoid them all together.
Another reason, they are busy doing other things.
Sometimes I get busy and dont get over to the forums for days on end.
Some are perhaps just shy and prefer to lurk and learn.
I would guess they all have their reasons.

smirkingsheep -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 8:02:41 PM)

The way this forum reacts is very bizarre.  Or may it's how I react to the forum?  Normally I'm really intimidated, but I guess normally the forums I visit aren't necessarily connected to something that's designed to meet people.  I don't particularly care if someone doesn't like something I post, because I know someone will.

Granted, I'm also not an asshat.  That helps.

Edited to say that usually on forums I strictly lurk.

wizardprincess -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 8:05:38 PM)

I'm posting....I'm posting....
just kidding. I was being a smartass. sorry all

quietkitten -> RE: Those who do not post (2/5/2007 8:11:13 PM)

When I first began to post.. I learned to grow a thick skin quickly.
Not everyone here is sweetness and light and it is very easy to offend someone with a perfectly innocent comment.

If you stick it out long enough you get to know the rythm of the place and it gets easier to deal with the multitude of personalities here.

WorldofSilence -> RE: Those who do not post (2/6/2007 4:28:54 AM)

Excellent thread :)

I must admit I'm a self confessed lurker, I read alot of the posts and topics.

However as one person mentioned there are days when I bearly have enough time to check My emails. then I have more time then I know what to do with and then I go through a frenzy of posting.
Or the other side of the coin is the topic requires a level of experince or the such in order to post a construtive reply, I try not to reply to topics unless I have thought an answer through, and even then I sometimes don't have the english at My disposal to properly express Myself, so another reason why I don't post.
My fave one is the english is so complicated I need a distionary next to Me in order to understand it, and thats time consumming so I would glance over it.

But I'll nearly always be a lurker *dons a cape and wide brim hat*

rascallymisty -> RE: Those who do not post (2/6/2007 6:05:05 AM)

I'm a lurker, mainly here on this side to see what I can learn. I tend to have strong opinion on things but I am not one to share them unless asked. Not into flaming so I stand on the side lines and either cheer or boo quietly for a post.  The friends I talk with do not post, so we talk on the other side. ~smiles~

I;m really curious as to what you all think.

I can't tell you how many times I've read a profile here on CM, found it interesting, and wanted to know more about the person, so clicked the button which says view forum posts and..................nothing.

I really don't understand it. The best thing about CM (as opposed to another site which will remain nameless as well as clueless) is the thoughtful, intelligent, (okay, also wise ass) posts by people who (mostly) know damn well what they are talking about. Even the one or two post wanker wonders are amusing and illuminating in one way or another in what they are telling us.

I can understand not posting photos, but some of the conversations, which take place here, the questions or information which is exchanged  must be of interest if kink enough a part of your life to post a profile. No?

I've written to people who never post and often they are bright, intelligent, curious and write welll.

Are the people who post here a different species? Or is it something as simple as some people like age play or scat or cross dressing and others don't?

I have had the same question in the back of my mind for a VERY long time.
I think maybe the cynicism of responses tend to drive people away and only the "in group" keep up the cycle and the newer ones find it hard to post out of fear they will be begrudged, laughed at, find their genuine need in the form of a question belittled and  all sorts of other things..... it is very intimidating as a new poster to find this in response to a need or question.
Been there done that and yes, I was very intimidated and now I have grown tougher skin.... but never the less, this is an issue of concern.
