What is your aversion to being bi-polar, or 'manic-depressive' over the standard depressive order?  I mean are you resigned to full depression?  (MDD)

SusanofO -> RE: Does "sub-drop" affect those with depression differently? (2/8/2007 11:10:32 PM)

obey1: Why? Do you think I am bi-polar? I am resigned to taking meds for the rest of my life. I do know how I feel when I periodically have gone off them - and within a few weeks (at most, usually withon a few days), I am feeling so bad I just about want to jump off a building or something. I know I will deal with it forever. But - some peooe have high blood pressure or Diabetes, it's not the end of the world. At least it's treatable. It sucked finding the right medication - but thank God I was ablt to do that.

the fact that he is a compassionate dominant will help also...my former Master is very compassionate & he would allow me to bask in the joy for as long as i needed to & then he would let me give him a "nail massage" during which i would feel this incredible energy exchange...i would nearly go into a trance & would do it gladly until he would stop me...it kept me connected to him....

What are you talkign about? I am just concerned that I have a chemcial imbalance, and will have it forever - and I know it;s not my fault. I guess when i first found out - my mother was pretty freaked out - and she didn't handle it very well at all - and maybe I still carry some of that shame with me, I don't know. In fact, I didn;t have a date from the time I was 18 until I was almost 25, because my mither had convinced me that - due to being a "depressive" I was "damaged goods". I was relatively attractive in my twneties 9and try to take care of jyself still) and occasionally, men would aks me out - but I always said "No"  becuas eI was somehow convinced they would find out I took meds, and was some kind of freak.

The one Summer, my sister took me to her law school picnic. I met a guy there I ended up dating for three years. He nevr cared I was on meds, and my mom turned out to be terribly wrong. her problme, not mine. I didn't get married until I was in my thirties, though. My twenties were just screwed up beyond repair.

Sorry about al of the typos. I am a terrible typist - andfor some reason, the edit" function isn;t working for me now, or I'd correct all of them (Oops).

i know how you felt about being ashamed about taking the meds...sometimes i meet a new person, tell them all about it & they look at me as though they think i'm crazy, which they obviously do think, & they head for the hills...just another one who wasn't right for me...hehehe

SusanofO -> RE: Does "sub-drop" affect those with depression differently? (2/8/2007 11:32:18 PM)

Well, I just couldn't get up the nerve to say "yes" to anyone who alsed me out. I spent my entire twenties hanging out with my gay haridresser, and going to his gay bars, because I could get rip-roarnig wasted, and no hetero guy would try to pick me up.

It was only after I started dated that law student that I realized I was quasi-normal, and really had nothing to be afraid of as far as other people or their reactions. This was 20 years ago, before Oprah, and the media had really made depression or talking about it "come out of the closet", though. Today, if someone has a problem that I take meds, I just figure they are seriously behind the times, not to mention not paticularly compassionate.

lilsubl -> RE: Does "sub-drop" affect those with depression differently? (2/8/2007 11:38:21 PM)

i felt the same when i first started taking them, like there was this big red beacon...then i learned through bad experience, that nobody wanted to be around me when i had an episode, so i got very nervous about attempting a relationship...my former Master, on the other hand, taught me differently...i was not allowed to curse after becoming his...when i would get depressed, i would call him--i did this twice in a year--& i would tell him he didn't want me & then i would curse at him...he would get very quiet & then when i would run down, he would say in a calm voice, "I'm still here"...this did more to help me than 20 years of therapy could ever do...no matter what i did to prove that nobody wanted to be around me during an episode, he would calmly tell me "I'm still here"......

That is so beautiful. It sounds like you had a great relationship.

I am just glad that we have effective treatment available for depression.  My attitude is: if a medication improves my life why would I refuse to take it?

I think obey1 needs to put down the crack pipe and back away!

lilsubl -> RE: Does "sub-drop" affect those with depression differently? (2/8/2007 11:47:26 PM)

catize, i agree with you wholeheartedly...if it hadn't been for the meds, i would have slipped into the well years ago & never have been able to climb back out again...& they just keep learning more & more about this illness & perfecting the treatments...

edited to add:  & i agree with you also about the dangers of smoking the crack!!

Just a challenge.  If it comes out later I told you so.  I do not smoke crack.  I want to know what Susan is accused of by her Master with specifics.

She said that he asked her.  Asked her about what?  She gave some examples.  Then she said that she never did them!

I looked on a parallel thread, and there is a similar post (maybe the stars) with a no-face avatar.....

It was a good guess.  Wrong, but a good guess nevertheless.

closertonova -> RE: Does "sub-drop" affect those with depression differently? (2/9/2007 12:24:10 AM)

so it seems maybe people with the bi-polar thing get maybe a more intense high and low, it would acount for not everyone getting that sub-drop. i know i am relitively normal  but you put me on birth control and i swing like a two year old on suger: i'm happy and i'm throwing tantroms then i see something shiny and i'm happy again, but day to day i don't crash like most bi-polars but i do get crazy sub-high and if forced into acting normal and not being aloud to simply live submissive after a long season i get terribly listless, low energy and grumpy, so i wonder, i could be very wrong here, but if those people prone to bi-polar like swings are the same that are prone to massive sub highs and lows? if simply your body chemicals are prone to laying low, and not peaking and crashing, wouldn't it figure that your not going to peak and crash? just might take more to get you higher. i mean in a natural body chemical way

cariad -> RE: Does "sub-drop" affect those with depression differently? (2/9/2007 12:26:46 AM)

while i do not suffer depression, i do have type 2 diabetes and subspace is something i ache to feel again.

i know that when playing or being punished i need to keep in my blood sugar what it was before we started playing, what it is after and if i am unable to test my sugars i hope that when i find my Daddy/Master He will help.

i know that any play that i do with Doms local to me is watched carefully because i have gone into subspace and not known my sugars were low because of it and that can be dangerous.

being depressed is okay as long as you take your meds regularly.

like one of the posters, i believe it was the OP my mother too convinced me that cause she had me labelled as emotionally handi capped did not have many dates if any until i walked out of the house one day and did not return.

the day i walked out i went to a specialist and talked to him about a medical condition i have other than the diabetes which was only just diagnosed last year, and he advised me my mother had more than one screw loose if she thought i was emotionally handicapped......so i went to her with a letter from the doc and she now leaves me alone to run my life.

she calls to bitch about my kids every so often, but other than that she  pretty much leaves me alone lol

take care and have a great night

I apologize for the crack 'crack' but I don't understand your rationale at all.  They each have a very distinct writing style which is consistently unique to their different personalities.
