I've never been to SF, but Midori headlined Shibaricon two years running. She's fabulous!

I have never been a serious big league player in SF but it is a small enough town that when you go to private parties you see all sorts of interesting well known players.

Jay Wiseman of SM101 fame shows up at munches and events all the time. Midori is a real player and shows up at small parties. People like Dossie Easton are working therapists, she didn't do much for me, but she is talented and has a very interesting take on this stuff. The only person I have wanted to meet but haven't is Sybil Holiday who wrote one of my favorite BDSM books, Consensual Sadomasochism, but she gets around still as well.

I'm not a big league player, but I do enjoy the "events". That's where we see so many of the well-known players...IML, Shibaricon, etc. Course I don't go to a lot of private parties either so maybe they are there also.

Midori gave a demo on bondage one year that had 'em hanging from the rafters. It was simply amazing.

And, Michael, sounds like you are being modest.

Mary? Some of us are looking online to find someone to be with r/t. It's kind of painful to read all these posts about how anyone who is online only (for the moment, anyway) just doesn't deserve any consideration from those of you who have found what we seek. I live in a very rural area, and don't have access to resources like munches and parties less than several hours away.

Maybe that's a *good* thing, though, the painful part. lol.

I'm very happy for you.

Jeez I am in a minority of one. Again. CelticPrince.. yes my Dom fits every one of those except for the online chat admittance thingie. He is not a chat room person at all.
I met him online folks. In a chat room *gasp*. I have been with him for 6 years.
My only difficulty is that he lives on the other side of the US & he cannot relocate.

Yes Dorothy & Toto, online can turn into real.

Thanks for the recommend! I am a total newbie to bondage but hell-bent on going this year. The workshops they are offering sound fabulous, and the idea of bondage as art is yummy. This probably sounds silly coming from a sub, but I want to get a life-sized doll and try my hand at Shibari! I'd rather be the medium than the artist though.

There is a VAST difference between looking online for someone to drag home, or in your case, to drag you home, and thumping your chest about BEING online.

The day I find my woman, is the last day I will be here. I mean I might pop in once in a while, boast and brag a bit, even perhaps pontificate, but I am here and at munches and parties HUNTING for my one.

Also, if you ARE in a place without a group, perhaps organizing one, even if it is only an email group for people in a closer but wide geographic area.

Thanks, Michael. I feel the same way. I've had this in r/t and r/l and was hardly ever on the sites when I did. Starting a group is a good idea. Maybe I can start a thread here that would lead to that kind of thing.

Me too and I haven't attended a munch or party for many years. My only consideration when I read such a post is that it is not about flesh-on-flesh, and I cannot relate to that, let alone swallow being told how it all works based on that. Also my success in finding r/l people online that I want to meet has been 90% failure. A whole lot of work with a very limited chance of success, but the one success was a stellar experience - a local man whom I did not meet on this site. My current squeeze I did not meet online. We've known each other for years. Is it possible that there is someone locally who is in the closet too?

I highly recommend finding a way to attend an event, even if you have to invest hours. Also, expanding your search beyond these boards, beyond free boards, was helpful for me. My initial fears were overwhelming, but once my feet were wet, I dove in head first. A little pluck and mettle can go a long way.
