MsCfromMelbourne -> Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 5:48:46 PM)

There seems to be a common belief that
1) you male Master/Dom/Tops think male submissives are weak
and so
2) you would be ashamed to admit if you actually tried - and god forbid enjoyed -  submitting to a woman.

Are these assumptions about your antipathy towards your submissive brethren fair?

Over the last 10 years, my submissive males  have all been powerful and/or adventurous "high fliers" - several lawyers, several CEOs, a soldier, two paramedics and a heart surgeon. They were all completely confident in their own masculine identity and sexual orientation.  They all wanted to be owned, used and abused (SSC of course) by a strong, beautiful* woman. They were not afraid of committed monogamous relationships.  Most of them were almighty pain sluts too.

None of this was weak or pathetic IME.  I would not date a doormat.  Submitting to female domination  takes guts and determination (and a huge appetite for kink)

So why do people think Dominant males disrespect submissive males?  Do you?

* beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder of course.

sweetnurseBBW -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 6:04:02 PM)

There are weak Doms, subs and slaves. Doesn't mean all are. Gender has nothing to do with weakness. Some of us have needs to be submissive and that certianly doesn't make us weak, male or female.

MsCfromMelbourne -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 6:07:52 PM)

Thank you sweet nurse and I agree - but I was asking the Male Doms their opinion, since they are the ones that are alledgedly repulsed by the idea of male submission.

Come on guys, why?

joyinslavery -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 6:09:03 PM)

In my experience, it's typically the average full-on hetero Dom/Master that seems to hold that opinion.

But, I've seen it in Dommes too (although few I think would admit it).

Fear. Much like homophobia there is that twinge of submission, that what if in the back of the mind that the ego cannot handle.

I will tell you that I feel it takes more strength to submit than to dominate.

Thank you.....answers have been given by a submissive female, a dog (I think) and a Troll (which is some kind of hairy frog thing.....!!)

But this is "Ask a Master" so come on guys!

letting go.     - Sylvia Robinson
These are some of my favorite thoughts on the strength to submit.  Like Sir says, I dont give my subbmission to world but to him.I am sure this is true of sub males as well.Personally I do not understand male subs for I find that being the way I am is not  a "manly thing thing" to do in private. But that is JMFO.A CEO can find himself running a worldside company, with determination, success and straight forwardness and NEED to find fullfillment in walking through a door disrobing and kneeling to the whims of a "supreme goddness."  I do NOT think it is always a man kneeling "for a huge appetite of kink" as you say.  If kink is involved in any D/s relationship, it is because the relationship chooes the kink.  Sir does not dislike male subs;  it is I who does NOT understand them, nor do I not dislike them,  I just do not understand them.  Sir and I were discussing just today that male subs do have kinks a female might never even think of.  That is from his 12 years of vast experience even in the complexities of the Chicago scene. I will still caution you are generalizing a lot, and the generalization partrol might prey upon you, that is, if they have the guts.

Edited to say: Pardon me but the forums are public and demanding only masters to reply is like demanding all you Dom/mes stay away from the sub/slave forum.  [:@]

MsCfromMelbourne -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 6:38:24 PM)

Should I go put this question in "Ask A Submissive"?????

I was asking (not demanding) the Masters if the "generalisation" about them was true or not.

I cite my own experience and I hope they cite theirs to dispel the generalisation

ArgoGeorgia -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 6:55:02 PM)

I definitely don't think any submissive is weak.  They are the ones who give themselves over, takes a great force of will to do that, to put that trust and faith in someone else.  That goes for male or female subs.

And I have bottomed before, but I can't submit.  I've tried, I just don't have it in me.

azzmaster -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 7:45:58 PM)

I do not agree with this, I do not know many "weak" submissives. To me it takes alot of strength to serve someone. It takes even more courage to go against the idiotic traditional gender roles. Weak? No, not in my mind, but everyone has their own belief. I think the person who is weak is the one pretending to be something s/he is not.

I personally don't know too many subs who are "ashamed".

The only shame involved would be on the part of some generic dominant that had the misfortunate to say something like that to me in person.

They'd realize pretty quick there's nothing weak about me.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Are submissives weak? (3/3/2007 8:50:16 PM)

speaking for Daddy (as i'm premitted to do)

quote:

1) you male Master/Dom/Tops think male submissives are weak
and so

first of all, you are blatantly generalizing in this statement. have you personally polled every single male Dom to come up with this conclusion? just curious how you came up with that general idea of what Daddy thinks about male submissives. to answer, Daddy has no comment about male submissives because He has no interest in them.

quote:

2) you would be ashamed to admit if you actually tried - and god forbid enjoyed -  submitting to a woman.

again you are generalizing.

quote:

Are these assumptions about your antipathy towards your submissive brethren fair?

hint in the keyword - assumptions because that's what you posted nothing but generalized assumptions.

Please realize we do not all feel this way.  As others have said, there is nothing weak about submission, and damn sure nothing to be ashamed about.  I think it takes an uncommon amount of inner strength to be able to give your trust and core to another unreservedly.
