I make political posts on threads about sending money to africa.

Please make a note of this.

farglebargle, please. Although we're a dom/domme couple, it's a verb, so should not be capitalized as a proper noun.

puella -> RE: A Whole Lotta Bitchin' Goin' On! (3/10/2007 9:19:47 PM)

In my opinion, any two Dom/Dommes who can co-exist without self destructing deserve a cap.

Vendaval -> RE: A Whole Lotta Bitchin' Goin' On! (3/10/2007 9:25:25 PM)

I vote in local and national elections, have worked as a volunteer
for various clubs and organizations, worked in the mental health/
social services field, gone to political rallies and protests, etc.

Finishing my educatio in the past few years and family committments
has taken priority over volunteer work and political activism.  I do as
much as humanly possible, there are simply not enough hours in the day.

puella -> RE: A Whole Lotta Bitchin' Goin' On! (3/10/2007 9:31:07 PM)

I hear you, Venaval...

You just have to believe that doing something is better than apathy.

Thank you for the complement, but we self destruct often. That' may be the secret to success. Just let it all hang out... And no hard feelings for it afterwards.

Puella, that's true, I hate it when people say "someone" else will do it. If something needs to be done and I'm right there (or anyone else) then who's going to get it done?
The day after Hurricane Katrina when it became obvious that the scope of the damage was massive I was watching my Coast Guard Brothers on t.v. busting their asses and doing a great job saving people's lives and I was pissed because I couldn't be there with them.
I didn't know what else to do so I called up the local Red Cross and asked them what they needed, the lady said, "MONEY!" "LOTS OF MONEY!"
I told her I'd be right up and an hour later I was on the street at a busy intersection with a Red Cross collection can going car to car as they stopped. And almost every single person wanted to help and donated money.
In a bad situation like that I think everyone wants to help!
I actually had fun doing it too! I got a good suntan and met a lot of nice people!
I saw on the news friday that there's thousands of FEMA trailers sitting in fields and still people down there with bad living conditions so come monday I'll be on the phone to my congressman and senators telling them to, "get those fuckin' trailers down to the people who need them!"
I mean they're sitting there rusting while people are without housing! What the hell is going on?
I wish everyone in here would call their senators and congressman about this on monday or during the week!
I mean we (Taxpayers!) PAID for those trailors to be used by people who need them but they're sitting in fields?
I don't mean to mouth off about myself but when I see something like this that needs to be done I like to take action.
I couldn't have just sat on my couch and did nothing after hurricane Katrina.
They said on the news that that whole area is still a mess and evidently FEMA is worried about "paperwork." More college boys sent to do a man's job. All they want to do is sit in offices and write memos to one another.
They need to kick them all out of their offices and have them helping out removing debris and moving those trailers! I mean we're paying them $60-$80k per year to sit in offices because they have "degrees?"
Meanwhile Bush wants more Troops and more $Billions for Iraq.
Is it just me or does anyone else in here think that Bush is fuckin' insane?

If there is one good thing about today's yuppy sort is that they love these houses too and are restoring them rather than buying a condo. Even though gentrification has its downside (like increasing property taxes in poor areas and more StarBucks being built), all in all it has been a good thing in maintaining a certain authenticity in many communities.

These homes are very valuable in Southern California... they start at half a million where my Daddy lives, and if you tag on an ocean view they go up steeply, like 750 or 800k. I want to get one when the property values tumble when GW leaves office and the next guy has to raise interest. The market is already really soft and foreclosures are rising. So perhaps I can get what I really want in a couple of years for half the price

Well.... I guess that means we can't throw any more kidney shots at the yuppies for a while. I'm actually surprised at the prices you mention.. I woulda actually thought they were all well over a million bucks down there. I hope you and Sinergy buy one over the next few years.

Good luck

jeebus, UtopianRanger...

The quote in your tag line is chilling...   I wonder if the World Court will ever get to haul him in on their warrant? There are so many baddies out there you lose track of just how bad some of the big hitters are, and that much of what we see going wrong today goes back way beyond 7 years.

I am criminal psychologist; I volunteer at a youth center as a counselor in the hopes that my small contribution will in some way make a difference.

I am speaking of small houses that need renovation. The other types are over a million..

Do you really believe that that is an authentic quote? Hah!!! Funny. I wouldn't, if I were you - it's OBVIOUSLY pure B.S., and I don't believe that that's a Kissenger quote  any more than I believe that B.S. story you told about your "brother".

Sanity, you do not need to believe anything I share about my personal life, and your commenting on it, really does not alter its truth or its relevance.  Nor does it do anything at all to impact me.

Excellent thread for you to show pettiness, btw.

Can you verify you are a real human being? Just checking

domiguy -> RE: A Whole Lotta Bitchin' Goin' On! (3/11/2007 7:58:58 AM)

I have at this point made a concerted effort to ignore Sanity...His inability to accept "facts," or process any argument/opinions that are contrarian to his political and wordly views I believe renders  his opinions of little consequence.

As for myself I love the outdoors and belong ot several groups that promote a cleaner environment, we work at removing refuse from damaged areas, I have talked with local authorities as well as corporations about opening areas for use by the public as well as trying to be better stewards to the environment.  I have worked with the Chicago Park District on "their fishing kids" programs.

Obviously the random acts of kindness...Donate food, funds and time to the Greater Chicago Food Depository http://www.chicagosfoodbank.org/site/PageServer

I also spend a great deal of time fucking with those that are less fortunate or slow.

Sanity -> RE: A Whole Lotta Bitchin' Goin' On! (3/11/2007 8:01:14 AM)

You think I can only be a "real human being" if I believe every story posted on the internet that Liberals make up about Amercan soldiers killing little children and their entire families. Is that your only criteria, that I would have to be extremely stupid, and gullible?

I think that you are very mean spirited by everything I have read from you. Not all  conservatives are cruel and mean. Some are just pathologically ignorant, others are misguided, still others are intellectually stimulating and challenging to debate... but there are some like you that just look for an excuse to bash on a liberal... I attribute this behavior to too much Rush, Hannity, and especially Ann Coulter. Your posts do not reflect well on your ideology or your humanity. I will compliment wyrdrich who can make a snarky political post often, he is not cruel, he has a sense of humor about himself... you could learn a lot from him on the conservative side of things.

Go on making cruel and nasty posts, it just makes liberalness look that much more appealing to people that read you that might be sitting on the fence politically. It just confirms in my mind why I reject neocons as not being fit for human consumption.

I agree we often go toe to toe but we kiss and make up while tieing some unfortunate slave to the rack smiles..Give and take often more giving then taking makes it work..bounty

Sanity -> RE: A Whole Lotta Bitchin' Goin' On! (3/11/2007 9:18:48 AM)

But yet youy think it's NICE to try to make our soldiers, who are GUARDING the people of Iraq, and who risking their lives and even dying to keep them safe, look like monsters purely for the sake of political gain.

I'm sorry, jo - but I prefer reality to "PC World" even if it isn't the most popular place to be at the moment. If it's mean-spirited to speak the truth then give me mean-spirited every damn time!

Well.. I have found a couple of answers.  I had started this OP to try to encourage a positive and pleasant discourse from people of all political persuasions.  I had wondered how long it would take, and who it would be, who would eventually sabotage that sentiment and turn it into a place for them to get petty and ugly.

IThere were a couple of minor pot shots along the way but in the end it took 92 posts, and the biggest loser is....

heh...
At any rate, it was really neet to get to know another side of so many of the people who post here.
