Well there aren't elves or any other races in it but it is primarily pvp oriented and supports guilds. You'd definately need a team if you went yeti hunting heh :)

Its graphical but its a simple interface, theres still a fair amount of typing involved for buying things and all that.

EDIT: Hmm the pic doesn't seem to be showing on my post. I uploaded it and embedded it yet its not showing....

'In all honesty from a program / game / application perspective I wouldn't go to Second Life, Aquatic. I was on it for a bit, and quite honestly...the coding is HORRIBLE! The moronic Lindens freaking coded the damn rendering code BACKWARDS so its slow and clunky and over all a very slow and poor situation. Yes it is very good at what it does (visual and modifiable chat room) but the slow rendering and the lag the permeate because of the poor rendering code is indeed why I would recommend not going to it.

In case and of you are wondering what I mean by rendering backwards, vision out from a character is supposed to be rendered from the characters point of view, aka a wall blocks their view nothing is rendered past there, in SL it is rendered as far as the "max distance" is set to and then back towards your character. Its very poorly coded and I am sure they did it because it was faster to code it poorly when they were first testing it and possibly did not expect it to take off as much as it has...but when they are reworking it now it would be a great deal better and faster if they learned to recode the damn rendering, hell it isn't THAT hard to rewrite just the rendering code!

LOL i'm glad someone else finally noticed that. Their programmers and modellers clearly don't know what they're doing.

Master and I are both geeks - we met at an anime convention! [:D]

We do tabletop gaming as well as video games. Whenever we play in a game together its generally on the same team helping each other out. If he gets something that I could use, he hands it my way. We tend to go for different classes and balance each other's characters out.

To Rhodes.. SL isn't really a "game" in the sense of any gaming. So the person who likes video console games or online multliplayer games is going to be wondering .. what's the game here? Cause mostly there isn't one. (excepting of course some serious combat zones or RPG worlds)

I agree with all you said about the coding.. and here is what is so amazing weird. Supposedly, coming from the original Linden embedded journalist, the founder set up SL partly as a games development platform. Yeah. is that weird. Why would they ever code the way they did if that had been a primary goal?

The other huge problem you didn't mention was the choice of the avatar mesh system (forgive me for lack of grip on proper technie talk) It has huge problems with clothing templates.. and animating the avi. Even at the time the original was coded, there were other 3D modeling systems for making avatars that were much better. Now the thing is so antiquated, it's a joke.. and the cost to the game itself, the economy of SL.. of creating/ installing a new system for avi modeling--it's hopeless. I believe we'll be forever stuck with this out-dated avatar.

I'm glad I never investigated it, in that case.  I currently play a text-based MUD, which is primarily focused on roleplaying, but I'd hate not being able to go out and slaughter some orcs if I was in the mood.  And yes, I"m often in the mood to go slaughter things.

Eh, you can slaughter in SL. You just go to the combat zones she mentioned. It is weird how so many people call this virtual world a game though. I fail to see the connection.

I don't really see how it's a game either. Games are easier to understand... I got so confused by how to move around and do things that I deleted it at once. You could call it a game from the role-play point of view I guess.

Eh.  I'll stick with the games I currently play.  And Fallout 3 when I can afford it.   Though I am looking forward to Rhodes setting up the server so we can all play together!

I don't even know what game anymore... but I'm willing to look into things to game with CM folks. As long as ya'll process not to make fun of my Barbie voice over voice chat.

I wouldn't say you suck, honey. There was that one time you beat the ass off of me in headshot count. Damn, I'm STILL proud of you for doin' that.

...and she does. She really, really does. It's part of the reason I endeavor to get her noisy whenever possible.

My friends in EverQuest 2 tease me about sounding like an airline stewardess or FM DJ. I am the world's calmest, most laid-back raid leader. And an amazing number thing that my harsh Texas accent is "sexy", go figure.

An interesting question..

Both Master and myself are intense gamers, albeit, despite owning all new gen and most older gen consoles between us, my game play time is limited to when Master will allow me to play. We are not MMORPG-ers ourselves, albeit, when playing split-screen co-ops in, say, MW2, for example, it is naturally expected that he assumes a leadership and I am his support. I believe I have never killed him via friendly fire but I do not doubt that my doing so would result in a spanking.

We also play Magic The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, albeit, I have been known to throw a game once or twice in subconscious submissiveness. As above, my "cheating" resulted in sufficient punishment.
