Seems like every web forum I've been on has one of those stories. Makes you wonder about folks that have nothing better to do than start fights like that.

I have been on pay sites before, and trust me, it doesn't cut down on the junk mail. I always got messages from people who didn't pay much attention to what I wanted. I would rather have this site just the way it is and simply delete the messages that aren't interesting to me than to have to pay and delete the messages that are not interesting to me. But, I am cheap so what do I know.

I once came accross a set of graphic images for the particular denizens of cyberspace.

One was the cyber troll who would log into the chat room, expound some lame theory, and despite the reams and reams of evidence provided by everybody in the chat room would stubbornly cling to it.

Which is different from the cyber werewolf who logs in to chat rooms and expounds some lame theory just to start a firefight.

One reason for making this a paid site is, maybe then they can make it load faster. Sometimes I get on here (I have cable) and it takes forever for the site to load. Sometimes it won't even load at all. I'm not complaining because again, it's free... But with some money, maybe they can afford to upgrade it.

Um, I'm totally against the idea. Mostly because I'm a broke college student and I wouldn't have been able to make the connections I've made if this were a paysite. No way, no how would I pay.

Some of the suggestions you made are good ones. Why don't you post them in the suggestion thread? I think we should be able to donate to CollarMe.com so we can keep it free and the site can make improvements.

I'm sure this has been said a million times in this thread, but if you really don't like it here and Alt is so da bomb, leave.

There is also the question, "how many free of charge sites are there?"  I don't know about anyoneelse but I've found very few that don't charge anything.  Yahoo used to be free (a few yrs back) but then they went to pay as well.  And what is the result of such a decision?  You end up paying a minimum of 19.95 a month just to be able to send an e-mail that may (or may not) receive a reply.  I've seen it on sites all over.  You send an e-mail expressing interest in someone and (even if they bother to read your e-mail) often they don't even extend the courtesy of a short, "sorry, not interested."  So you cool your heels wondering if they did receive it or not.  I think it's rather rude myself.  While I feel that the recipiant has the right to say no to a potential interest the original sender paid funds to be able to contact them, and usually the return e-mail is free of charge, so that the recipiant has nothing to lose by sending a courteous ,"not interested."

I haven’t read anyone else’s response yet, so excuse the pete and repeat routine, but it’s a do or die kind of day for me.

First, I don’t agree that what you feel is important is important to me, and I don’t believe the new search options will ensure jack. Some people lie, and then there are those who believe, “where there’s a will there’s a way”. My profile mentions my involvement with my Dom and commitment to him in a few places, and I still get emails from other Doms who think they might have a chance.

Even if paying does “weed out (most) trolls”, as you put it, it will also prevent people (munchkins) like me, from being able to participate, due to the fact that most of the time, I do not get to “live”, but only scarcely exist.

Since I met my Dom here on CM, and without him I can not get my energies filtered, this would not make me a happy camper. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. Hell, I don’t like me when I’m angry.

Is there a restriction on how many emails a person can send on “Alt”?

Perhaps, if you are concerned about the age of those you are contacting, you could either shoot for profiles that state they are older then what you're looking at now, or conduct age varification yourself.

Hate to break it to you, but your not going to stop the unwanted emails this way. The idiots i get mail from know i am a lesbian and that does not slow them down a bit. i just got one last week that said "I have always wanted to take a lesbian and totally humiliate her ... Interested??? "
 
i wrote back and told him i had always want to tie an idiot to a cross and cut his dick off...interested?

Haven't heard back from him, maybe he doesn't have a dick.....

If this were a pay site, people would become MORE negative, whiny and complaining in their profiles and journals and probably here too, because their expectations would be higher, and when they STILL didn't find what they were looking for, they'd be pissed because they PAID to still be a failure.

If I had a choice between spending $15 on paying for a membership for one month or in attending a real party with real people and real beer, I'd spend it on the REAL party.  It would be more beneficial for my mental health and social life.  And I'd probably get a meal out of it.

I don't think this site needs to be a paid site to have another way of searching for profiles. Sure there can be some changes made, and they are made regulary. Things are added and taken away regulary as it is.

It would take away some of the cheap pro's yes, but it would take away a lot of other folks too. I for one will not register on a pay site. Partly because I am not interested on adding my creditcard details to some site on the net.
Comparisons with Alt were made. I think Alt is a really sad site. The layout is a lot worse then collarme, and the way of searching is not much better. During the very brief period I actually used that site (and paid handsomely for it) I got a lot of mails from male slaves trying to convert me to be a dominant female instead of a subbie. I got a lot more unwanted mails there then I get here.

I never met an underage person here on collarme so far, and no angry or bitter people either, save those who make must-bash-on-someone theads here on the forum.

So please leave collarme as it is for us who like it as it is, and if you so dearly want to pay for admission just use the aforementioned site Alt.
