ORIGINAL: missturbation Of course it is and there are exceptions to every rule but 16 years of dealing with situations like the op has mentioned makes you consider the best action to take to cause the least disturbance. Sometimes disturbance is unavoidable but stopping and thinking about the course of action we are about to take in all aspects of life isnt a bad thing. No question; it's why I mentioned what I did about my time as a bouncer. Grabbing another man by the shirt and throwing his ass through a window is rarely the wisest move. Tapping a guy on the shoulder and asking if he's got change for a five, or offering to buy him a drink are ways to catch him off his guard. Proceed to enthusiastically compliment his great watch, exactly the same kind my dad gave me the year before he died...blah blah blah. It might annoy him, but it might very well keep his girl's nose in one piece, too. The question is trying to minimize damage, while still minimizing intrusion. Personally, I would be grateful for someone if they grabbed my attention away from a situation that was becoming overly hostile. LaTigresse, Yes, I've made efforts to help prevent children from running crazy when their parents don't. I find keys to be great distractions for toddlers, and slightly older children are naturally curious; almost anything in my bag or pocket is likely to fascinate them. A few magic tricks don't hurt either, and can easily reign in sanity. Stephan
