Update, they just announced that "29" have been killed.
It's Blacksburg not "Blackwell", my mistake.

Now if everyone was armed to the teeth he may have gotten a few before they mowed his ass to the ground...

Do you feel that the government can protect you?

RealOne, they just said on the news that back in 2005 a student who was Liscensed to carry a gun by the state of Virginia was "disciplined" for carrying one in class at Virginia Tech.
Man, someone has egg on their face now!
I think if just 1 student who was a lisensed gunowner was in that building things would have turned out differently!
We have states who are trying to disarm their Citizens but they can't protect them!

I doubt it.  Things might have, but it's far more likey that they wouldn't have.

That's a uniquely beautiful part of Virginia right there......not far from the New River gorge. But it’s also Jerry Falwell country, if my memory serves me correctly. I was down there all the time when I was in the Marines.

Stef, and what leads you to that conclusion?
Boy, they're taking an awful long time to release the shooter's name!
I wonder why that is?

Actually, one or more could have been licensed gunowners -- even with concealed carry permits. That particular university has a policy of expelling students caught *legally* carrying -- and firing staff who do so. To be fair, they have not exercised that policy. But it's likely adhered to, as the penalty is Draconian.

And while I agree that one student carrying might well not have made a difference (that high a body count doesn't come from random shots; there was aiming going on), if there had been several students carrying (likely among 30+ victims), the likelihood of a lower body count would rise considerably.

Maybe...  you know?  If the kid happened to be in the exact right place at the exact right time and had the opportunity to fire back, you know?

Now if every american was armed to the teeth that would have been a very different story because there will always be someone in a position for a shot and like i said they would have mowed his ass down before he could have hurt to many.

It does show that licensing does not do a damn thing which we all knew anyway.   They simply want to disarm the general public as a whole and rather than teaching "gun control"  they prefer everyone is afraid of them and just to ban them.  Cant defend the republic without them.

Its wrong thinking wrong direction.    Gun control should be part of going to school so people learn to respect them rather than watch terminator shows and the first day mommy doesnt give the the tit go out and waste all their friends.

Oh and for those who did not read any of my previous posts....

Gun Control = 1/2" group at 300 yards

You do realise this is bullshit? Every time there is one of these shootings people say if the victims were armed it would be different. There is enough psychological research to suggest people could be armed to the teeth but will not respond.

What really needs to be asked, what is the underlying problem in society that prompts these types of incidents. Why can someone so disconnected from reality get a weapon and enough ammo to do this.

Of course, these questions are asked every time an incident like this happens but nothing is ever done about it. It is just a matter of waiting for the next event and no matter how much the victims are armed, it won't change anything.

There are millions of guns out there owned by millions of owners.  Percentage wise...there's bound to be a wacko that goes crazy and kills a bunch.  It's probably less than one percent of the gun owning population.  Millions own and never hurt another person.  So do we take away the guns of the millions because of the actions of a few?   I hope not.

Hey, didn't Virginia Tech have a "No Guns" policy on campus?
Maybe the shooter didn't get his copy?
I have a problem with a State Funded school abridging 2nd amendment rights but taking Taxpayer money.
Maybe they shouldn't get anymore state funding. (Tax Dollars)
