hell - the illegal immigrates are part of the economy now.  You'd piss alot of people off who need their cheap labor if you kicked em all out.

if an illegal immigrant mother gives birth here, their son/daughter is automatically an American citizen yet there lays another problem - the parents themselves.  you see legally, the mother and/or father have no parental claim on any child born in the U.S. if the parents are caught by INS and the child with them is an American citizen, their child is placed immediately into foster care for adoption while the parents are deported.  case in  point that mother who barracaded herself in the church here.  her son is an American citizen and she's not.  legally she has no legal parental claim to him because of her illegal status.

there was a HUGE rally here in Chicago Tuesday which tied up traffic for hours - i have no sympathy for those who enter illegally however the US govt is not doing a good job protecting the borders since most of our budget is spent on that damn "war" in Iraq.  terrorists can sneak over the border disguised as illegals and set up shop here. i have seen the INS agents do raids in the Hispanic neighborhoods before and though people do protest when they do, they forget the law is the law.  just because you're here illegally, you shouldn't be given any special treatment and/or services (that includes medical, WIC, food stamps, etc) while trying to obtain legal status.
