To me I believe that what makes America great is that you really can be anything you want to be here....IF you have enough drive, motivation, patience and perserverence. Unfortunately, most people don't and would rather sit and whine about how it's impossible.

I was holding my breath to see if there would be any type of reply.

I agree with you. I never thought I would own a home. But I do. Perseverance had alot to do with it.

True alot of whining. Sometimes we dwell on all thats bad- I thought a cheerful thread might be fun.  :-)

abundant food. Interesting you mention that. Jenny flat out told me to stop sending her snacks.... I get them almost free, and like to share. I figure one will eat- so why not cave in and have "some" of the snack food.

The midwest is the breadbasket of the world. I do sorta wonder about the aquifer- that we are draining it too fast.

I love summer. I go to the local farm stand. I go every other day and get real food locally grown, at good prices. I can see and talk to the farmer that grew it. When I eat more produce i feel better.

Conversely I avoid all you can eat buffets- it seems like a banch of cattle that will never eat again. Im not a big fan of that- [may as well bring back the vomitoriums from the middle aaaages..]

pssssst.....vomitoriums don't have anything to do with vomiting. They were passages in amphitheaters that allowed crowds to flow out.

As a judge in the wild west once said; "we're gonna give 'em a fair trial then we're gonna hang 'em!"
Would it make you "feel better" if we gave them trials then hung them?

1) Without an arraignment, how do you know they're accused of being Al Quaida spies?
2) Yeah, a FAIR TRIAL would constitute Due Process and Equal Protection. You know, with Lawyers, Judges, Juries, etc...

we take it for granted. despite the past 8 years- we still have the "real America" that is made up of real people.  one can not be certain the bush years are now what America is forever.  We constantly are re-inventing ourselves.

as a whole the country very much wants to move on from the doom and gloom of the bush years.  Quite possibly it is possible- that our next president could be the greatest in history. Never say never.

in day to day living- I dont find the bush thing to be of relevance. For instance- when one goes about their day- the fact that bush is prez doesnt factor in a whole lot.

Im excited about PAs new energy policy. Good things are on the horizen here in PA.

That's not in the rule book!
People who use the word "morally" try to say that and they always lose.
Are you trying to say that I'm not better than some insane suicide bomber who doesn't care if they kill innocent women and children?

I'm pretty sure "we have to be better than them" comes from here:
