Status: offline 		Is this something you would ever do with your s type, or allow to be done to you (f you are the s type)

Why and/or why not?

If this seems okay with you, what kind of restraints would you use/allow to be used? What kind of safety measures (if any) would you have any place?

If you caged someone or agreed to be caged and left alone, please give us details of the circumstances (size of cage, safety measures, etc).

I have my own strong opinions on this subject, which I will post at some point this evening, but I would like to get others' thoughts first, if you please.

Status: offline 		I would never leave her alone while tied up... I would be paranoid that something might go wrong while I'm away.

Besides, I like looking at her while she's bound.

Alone in the house/apartment/hotel room, ect? No way. It would end any relationship we may have. Too much can go wrong.

But my off-the-cuff thought is that if I'm willing to send Carol in the car to the grocery store where the odds of an accident -- possibly fatal -- are extremely high, then why wouldn't I leave her tied up more or less safely in my house?

Carol adds: I think leaving two teenagers alone in the house for an evening seems a lot more risky.

Status: offline 		Alone... hm... well, as I haven't a cage yet, that's kind of a moot point. But with restraints, ones that lock closed, the closest to "alone" I leave them is to travel about 15 feet away to the restroom on the rare occasion, or maybe to go to the kitchen for about 5 minutes to grab a drink or a little snack to share. Never alone in the house, never out of ear-shot. As Tazzy said, Too much can go wrong.

Status: offline 		no i wouldn't leave someone, i just don't have anyone i'm willing to go to jail for if anything goes wrong.

and no i wouldn't allow someone to do it to me. far too much to go wrong, and if someone did do it to me it would be a deal breaker. i'm an asthmatic for a start, and an emotional one at that, it's not worth the risk for myself and nore would i put that on someone else.

Those possible variables require too much typing for me to go into great depth.

I remember there used to be a couple that posted here. She was a 24/7 slave, kept chained all day while he was gone. The way they describe it (if indeed it was to be believed), it did not seem so horrific. She had a very interesting journal.  I've often wondered what happened to them.

I just do not do cages or any long term bondage, my body wouldn't take it and I'd be bored as hell.

Leave them tied so that I can use the bathroom?  Yes.

Gone to another room to get water?  Yes.

Step out to smoke a cigarette?  Yes.

I've even left a hotel room and gone down to the lobby to get another person.  Yes.  (We're talking ten minutes.)

Leave the property?  No.

Speaking of that car accident, how do I, as a top, know that I won't have one while somebody is tied up at My place and I was out for that quick run to the store?

Status: offline 		Thank you for the responses. This thread was prompted by the dishonesty thread in which an s type was bound and left alone for over five hours. Some posters did not think the situation was all that dangerous, others saw it as a complete deal breaker.

This was compounded by the fact that she did not really know him. Which is why I am asking for circumstances you might find this sort of thing appropriate.

Status: offline 		Actually, on the "mind fuck" side, I do enjoy employing noise cancelling ear buds and music as he's bound and blindfolded, so he has no idea if I'm there or not unless I touch him. That's rather fun, and certainly leads to the feeling of "Am I alone? What do I do? Am I okay?"

Sure. I've been in that position more times than I could begin to count. I don't see it as a big deal at all.

Is it somewhat risky? Sure, but life's full of risks. We pick the ones that are worthwhile, and move forward with them.

does alot of what you have the risk of carol dying and you going to jail for it? also, if she died because you left her, could you live with that?

that's why i won't allow it on either side.

Just because another parallel risk might be "acceptable" doesn't mean you specifically "increase" a risk unnecessarily.  Not when somebody is actually depending on you to keep those risks as minimal as possible.

Let's say that I tie clip up and make that run to the store.  If the potential car accident that I have is bad enough that I can't get back, what happens?  I'd better hope that MP finds him and cuts him loose.  If I lived alone, how long do you think it would take somebody to find him?

Even better, let's go with somebody who isn't clip in the same situation.  Every top out there knows that some folks aren't as forthcoming about that part of negotiation where we ask about physical/emotional health.  Asthma, frequent panic attacks, heart conditions, circulation problems, etc, etc. 

Part of this is about protecting the bottom, but I'm protecting Me, too.  The consequences of what *could* happen in leaving that person alone and leave the property just aren't worth it to Me.

Status: offline 		It depends on the restraint, or the cage, how comfortable I would be with it from the s side. Suspension-bound while he's gone to work all day? Probably not a good idea. I'm old. Handcuffed to the bedposts while he runs out for beer? No problem. We don't live in a secluded area, so no Gerald's Game is likely here.
Sure, something COULD happen while he ran to the store. But something COULD happen if I step outside too. Just not that big a risk.

Status: offline 		I don't see this as being a parallel to other "every day, acceptable risks". The going out and possibly getting into a car accident, for example. While that is extremely plausible, it's something that can also plausibly be avoided during the circumstance, by swerving away, etc. However, if I'm out and there's a short in some wiring or something, and the house catches fire, if my sub is locked down to the bed, he can't exactly plausibly do a damned thing to escape the circumstance.

Whilst out and about, taking the normal, every day risks, we're also of a capacity to at least attempt to avoid some of them or lessen the effects should they occur. Leaving someone trapped somewhere and helpless, unable to do anything but scream and wonder why they've been abandoned by someone they trusted implicitly is not something I'm willing to do to any person I love.

Yes, lots and lots of stuff... waking up in the morning for instance

Less stuff, but still yes. For instance, having sex with her.

also, if she died because you left her, could you live with that?
Unequivocally yes assuming I'd done due diligence in the actuarial tables.
