My prediction, is the citizens of Farmers Branch will pass an ordinance next year to monitor the rapidly rising cost of lawn care and roofing companies. What I don't understand, is why these starving produce pickers don't fire up their high speed internet connection and fill out the proper paperwork to get in legally. They are probably just lazy. At least with this new bill, they can reach into their deep pockets and pull out that extra 5K they have hanging around, and pay their way in.

I am a law-abiding, tax paying American citizen and would never in my life assist ANYONE in breaking the law, regardless of relation or reason.

I agree, I could have just ignored her; being human, I have flaws, like everyone. One of those is despising weasely behaviour, which she exhibited. But again, yes, I could have used a different tact. For some, likely quite a few people, illegal immigration IS a racial issue, like it or not. Personally, I don't like illegal immigration, it hurts this country in many ways, but I understand why some break the law to get here. Tough situation with few clear-cut answers, in my opinion.

If I went to Mexico through a legal Port of Entry and then instead of returning through that or another legal Port of Entry waded accross the Rio Grande I'm a Wetback. And to which "race" are you referring, Caucaision, Negroid, or Mongoloid?

Popeye, the term wetback is used, for damn sure down here, as a derogatory term for any hispanic. I don't know the origins of the word, but whatever it's original coiner meant has been long relegated to the back-burner. I see too many super-"patriots" who love to use terms like that, and then try to pretend they meant no harm.

The term "wetback" is a derogatory word normally associated with illegal Hispanics, much like "honky" and "cracker" are derogatory words for Caucasions. Once again, this post is NOT about racial issues, it's about our country's laws.

No Popeye, I didn't say that. What I said is I've never heard the term "wetback" used in any other than a derogatory manner. Your earlier post made if sound like the term itself had no connotation. You can address people any way you want to. Doesn't make a bit of difference to me.

The real problem is that people complain at both ends. If all those big ranchers and farmers hired legal labor, the price of food would skyrocket. No one wants that. But they don't want illegal immigrants, either.
